.. and Mr. Wallace had a good consitent day.. all in all, a pretty good day for all involved... and the DW Curse... sounds like there needs to be a Time-Life Books investigation there... you could be onto something.

NASCAR achieved exactly what it wanted to with this gambit.
Exposure, and money.
New sponsors showed up and demonstrated their willingness to help out.
I predict this track will be on the CUP schedule by 2007. NASCAR interviews will become indistinguishable from CART (remember them??) interviews.
Racing - actually, the racing from the NASCAR gang showed the locals what they have been missing by focusing on F1 all this time. Access to teams and drivers, spirited racing, lead changes, passing throughout the field, and cars that can take a little bump or off-track adventure and not be sidelined. I enjoy watching NASCAR on the road courses. After all, you don't drive YOUR Monte Carlo around in circles, do you?
Get used to it gang, this is the way we are going. And there is still a Rockingham race track - in England.
