Why so much hate?
We all have drivers we dislike, that's just the nature of being a fan, but there seems to be a lot of hate out there for Kevin Harvick. My question is why?
What has Harvick done that no other driver has done to make people hate him so much?
I've read numerous articles and opinions on the latest penalties from the Las Vegas infractions and I see a lot of people saying that the penalty wasn't harsh enough for Harvick. Why? He got 25 driver points taken away, his crew chief, who was responsible for what happened, got fined and suspended for four races, why is that not enough? Why are people going on and saying that Harvick should be fired? I just don't get it.
So, why so much hate for Harvick? Is it that he will retaliate against another driver if they do something to him? So will practically any other driver out there. Is it that he'll bump a driver out of his way for a win? Wait, other drivers do that too. Maybe it's because he won't be a yes man for NASCAR and isn't afraid to speak his mind? Guess what, other drivers do that too. So what is it?
The hate needs to stop, for Harvick or any other driver out there. You can dislike a driver for whatever reason, but hate is going overboard, that driver has done nothing to you.

I'm not sure all the hate is for Kevin,I really think some some may be left over from Dale Earnhardt.Seems just a number change was not enough to get the hate off that car.Myself,I am still a 3 fan,An 8 fan and for sure a 29 fan!FOREVER3GO8!!!

Hate is such a strong word. I don't know any of these drivers personally, so I can't say I "hate" them.
I do not like Jeff Gordon. So what. He wins, he does well, he's always in the hunt, and I think he has qualified for every Cup race he has ever entered. Sharp record. But I still can't root for him. Why? Dunno, maybe because I am a dinosaur! But then, why root for Harvick? I did so because of the ride he took over after Feb 2001. Cheered for the victory at Atlanta that spring. I still root for the Goodwrench team and hope it isn't like rooting for the 43 or the 21 long after Petty and Pearson left the driver's seat.
Hate. Every sport has good guys and bad guys. Some of it is bandwagon (see Yankees, Cowboys, Gordon) and some is regional pride (see Packers, Kenseth, Biffle). We try to relate to a team, a driver - and hope they do well. If that means we need the other guy to do poorly, well, okay. Blown engine, damaged aerodynamics, flat tire, yeah.
Hate? It's pretty strong, and can cross the line when you hope for injury or worse. Then I suggest you seek help. Contrary to popular belief, true fans don't go to see wrecks. Don't let your hate consume you.
