Harvick is Happy again
Kevin Harvick took the checkered flag for the first time since the Brickyard 500 in 2003. Harvick practiced patience working his was from the back of the pack in the wreck filled race with the help of Richard Childress. Childress was up on the pit box for the first time since Harvick's 2001 season because of Berrier's suspension, and it seemed to help. Maybe Childress should sit up on the pit box more often.
Rusty seemed to have had the car to beat at first. He led the most laps, but had a tire go down on lap 195, putting him two laps down. He fought back and got one of those laps back and looked like he could possibly get the other one back when Bobby Hamilton Jr. caused that big wreck and Rusty's car got damaged in it. Rusty ended up finishing 2 laps down, but in 13th place and he maintained his 9th place position in the standings.
The other big wreck was when Jimmie Johnson hit Jeff Burton and sent him spinning and Kurt Busch ended up slamming practically head-on into Burton. Both were OK, but Busch did seemed a bit woozy after the wreck.
We heard from most participants in the two big wrecks, Hamilton Jr., finally being big enough to admit it was his fault, first time I've heard him admit anything. We also heard from Burton, who was visibly upset, but tempered himself and Kurt Busch, but we never heard from Johnson. Looking around this morning at articles about the race, still nothing about or from Johnson, maybe we'll get an update later today from him? Then again, maybe not.

As to Johnson apologizing...

We all know how hot Burton was after the wreck, and even Busch didn't seem too happy. With Johnson sitting on top of the points I'm wondering if someone is "accidentally" going to take him out as a little payback. Last year I would have put it on Harvick, but after Daytona I don't think he'd risk it. But he did say to his crew: tell the 48 I'm not the 31, I will bite back. Hmm...

Every blind hog finds an acorn every once in a while. Don't get too excited.

Just a thought: if Berrier hadn't lost his head for those few moments it took to rig the tank, Harvick would be 25 points richer. My working out says that makes him joint third in points with Tony.

paul,
hey come on man racing is just like fishing.
you need to be in the right palce at the right time. When that big one finaly hits your line, you better dam well have the right bait, the right gear and a little talent can't hurt. Seems that Harvick had the right stuff not once but 2 times this weekend. Harvick landed that sucker.

For your information

Got this from JJ's site
Like all Bristol races, Johnson endured many close calls. He and the lapped car driven by Jeff Burton made contact sending Burton into the wall and ending his day. Johnson apologized over the team radio.

Slow down Paul, I wasn't lecturing you. I am simply saying that on any given raceday 42 drivers could say "if" "coulda" "woulda" and "shoulda". On Sunday, it was Harvick's turn to reap the spoils.
As for the team, RCR has three driver who are working well together, and I think they will be a force all the way down the line. I reiterate, that RCR could be the one team with the potential to jump into the dance with the other two. Because, with those three top 10 finishes, Harvick is 6th in points.
Relax, Paul it's only racing.

Barman, I am not demaning his victory and I really don't need the "you wouldn't like it if somebody said that about your driver" speech from you. I was simply stating an opinion. He was very fortunate that Rusty had problems and Biffle and Richert were dumb. As far as your comment about raining on the Hendrick/Roush parade, here are a few stats for you from the first 5 races of the year. Harvick 28th, 6th, 5th, 21st and 1st. Burton 29th, 19th, 17th, 15th and 36th. Blaney 14th, 34th, 13th, 8th and 20th. Hardly the consistency it will take to overtake Roush or Hendrick.

Paul, I will agree that Happy has toned it down a notch. Being humbled for 55 races will do that.
However, trying to diminish what he did, from back to front, by saying it was this problem or that driver - Rusty did have problems - all drivers have races when they have problems - and Biffle and crew made the decision to stay out on old tires when Harvick pitted. You wouldn't demean the victory if it were your favorite driver -it's called - "that's racin' " remember.
Harvick showed he can win in the series, and he did pay a great tribute to his teammates and crew, and THAT is the secret to the RCR success. All of them were up front at some point (see also: Bristol Busch race).
I think if there is a team poised to rain on the Hendrick/Roush parade, it is RCR.

Don't read too much into the last to first thing there Frank. Harvick was far from the best car at Bristol. He was just lucky enough to be there when Rusty had problems and Biffle's crew had a mental lapse. As much as I dislike Harvick I was glad to see him be a little more genuine and less cocky in the post race.

hey
so as we can see Harvick has what it takes to be a winner. Most of us already know that.
That's why he's my driver, but seems Jimmy Johnson is up to his old tricks on the track.
I think Jimmy shopuld be fired - he does not belong on the track. AT LEAST THAT IS A REPEAT OF WHAT HE ONCE SAID.
Seems that RCR finaly has a team that will work together and that will help them all.
So congrats to Kevin and the Goodwrench team.
From last to first and all at Bristol - not a bad day's work.
