Newman wins a green-white-checkered for his third consecutive Busch Series win
Ryan Newman won his third consecutive Busch Series race in the NASCAR Busch Series on Friday night.
It was a race delayed by rain, 12 cautions total, which is fairly normal for Bristol Motor Speedway.
Newman held off a hard charging Kasey Kahne for a while until contact between the two sent Kahne spinning. Once the green flag flew again he had to hold off Greg Biffle, who in turn had to worry about Keven Harvick. A caution in the closing laps set up a green-white-checkered and Newman was able to hold off Biffle and win the race.
Reed Sorenson was able to move up from his 42nd starting position and finish 11th, despite a spin earlier in the race. I think it was great that he was able to pull off a good finish despite the problems earlier on Friday with his crew chief and tire specialist screwing up and getting kicked out of Bristol. All I can say about that whole thing is....STUPID.
Martin Truex Jr. retained his points lead over Bowyer, Sorenson kept his third position in the standings, only losing 20 points over the whole thing. Even if Sorenson is penalized points for his crew chiefs and tire specialists stupidity, he'll still remain 3rd in the standings.
It'll be interesting to see what the Cup Series has to offer at Bristol on Saturday night, hard racing and maybe even some paybacks. Hey, it's Bristol, anything can happen.

Yes, that was quite the feat, stepping down a series to win a race. Way to go Ryan! OK, can you smell the sarcasm?
Yes boys and girls, the buschwhackers have done it again, they should be proud, they stole points and money in SIX of the top TEN posistion. Brian France has vowed to do something to help the Busch series regulars next year. There are those who didn't think NASCAR listened and would never do anything about it. Even they must think it's bad for the sport if they are willing to address the issue. There is one very simple solution that would all but eliminate buschwhackers, they don't have to ban them, they don't have to make any special rules directed to them, they simply have to switch the Busch series to bias ply tires and the problem of buschwhackers goes away overnite.

Yea he won, too bad he got lucky that Kahne apparantly is a cleaner driver then he is, Kahne should have held his line and let Newman worry about spinning out but instead he took his car to the apron to avoid wrecking Newman and wrecked himself.Oh yea the cup race has ended and it seems Newman spun a certain Mr. Jarett out in that one. But it's all good, Jarett got him back. As big a Dodge fan as I am, I am certainly no longer a Newman fan and would hate to see him as one of the Dodge reps in the chase.

Except for those two rain delays the race was pretty exciting. I was hoping to see Harvick hop out of his car and pounce on Biffle one more time. But cooler heads prevailed and Harvick just chose to make his comments to the pit reporter instead.
I agree what Sorenson's Crew Chief did was so stupid and even if the entire garage does it doesn't make it right and hopefully they get hammered by NASCAR.
