Lowe's repaved and ?
With all the complaints about the condition of the track at Lowe's from the last race and test sessions, it looks like it will get repaved. Not before this years race, but next year. I haven't heard of any time table on it though.
I have not problem with that, if it'll help the racing, I'm all for it. There is one thing that's been going around about Lowe's that I don't like. Granted, it is just talk at the moment, but restrictor plates were mentioned! I don't know about you, but I don't want more restrictor plate races. Let's just hope this is something that won't happen.

How can we "The Fans" stop Restrictor Plate Racing?
Is there any organized effort?
If Yes, do we have a leader?
If no, would it be possible to talk to Mark Martin - possibly, Mark could be our leader.
Thanks,

Great idea, but it's been said by most fans, wonder why someone in NASCAR hasn't come up with the idea of going back to their real roots, where the Driver and ingenious engineering, had something to do with winning.

Don't need plates.
Just need a dirtier car.
Here's a thought.
Why not make the cars on the track resemble the stock cars they are supposed to represent? (what a concept, huh?)
Maybe add a spoiler here, and air dam there, but use the ACTUAL BODY STYLE off the showroom floor.
It would slow them down.
These CART cars with fenders are no more stock car than a tricycle.

Why doesn't NASCAR get it? They don't need restrictor plates at any track. What they need to do is get Goodyear to bring back a tire that won’t let the cars drive through the turns at 180+ MPH. I drive a street stock at a local short track, our engine will produce far more horsepower than the spec tires will allow us to grip the track with and hold the turns. With the right tires, Cup drivers could still go as fast as they want down the straight but would have to slow enough to get through the turns. The overall speeds would be held down to safer levels and driver talent would mean a lot more than it does now. No more “big ones” from the packs of cars on the supper speedways. Drivers would have to use the throttle in stead of just holding it to the floor for 30 laps at a time.

How fitting. Bringing restrictor plate racing to the home of NASCAR will be like putting the guy who invented the designated hitter into Cooperstown. I have never liked what the restrictor plate has done to NASCAR and it is the one thing that makes this sport the laughing stock of racing. NASCAR appears to think its drivers don't have the talent to control their cars at high speeds like you would get in professional racing, so they create a 190 mph commuter fest that looks more like the traffic to make the 8 am at DFW Airport. And when the buffoons get into the big one, you can just hear the other sports laughing. It's great to get a big swill of beer and let out a big YEE HAA, then watch them good ol boys git all bent up in all... but I miss Bill Elliot running 214 mph in a real stock car race. Tear the plates off and race. If not, then plow up the back stretch and turn it into a road course. Leave the side-by-side crap for the idiots on I-20 headed home.

Come on Cindy, is that an attempt at satire? Junior's reign as "plate king" is over. And please provide a link that outlines his use of a different spoiler than the rest of the field.
With the speeds being run at Lowes now, and with 1-2 more mph on a newly resurfaced track they may have no choice but to use the restrictor plate. And you can add Atlanta also. Speeds there are also approaching the level where it may be needed.
The ultimate answer of course is a downsize of engine horsepower and tossing plates into the dustbin of history. That in the form of "the engine of the future" has been stopped short by both the teams and car companies.

If they use restrictor plates at LMS it will be the most obvious way nascar has ever tried to help dale jr. He is the restrictor plate king, or he used to be anyway before they finally started running the same spoiler as everyone else.
