Engine woes for Burton
Jeff Burton was hoping to stay out of trouble, but engine troubles put him out of the race early. Not only did he lose the points lead, he dropped four spots to fifth in the standings, 48 points out of first.
Most of the Chasers were able to gain in the points thanks to Burton's problems, especially race winner Jimmie Johnson who moved up four spots to third in the standings and only 41 points out.
Kenseth is in the points lead by 36 points over Harvick, even though neither one of them had great cars.
Everyone, including me, was saying it looked like it was Burton's title to win or lose and this really hurt him. Now, Kenseth is on the point and now it's his to win or lose. I do have to say though, if Kenseth has more races like today's, he just may lose it too.
Four races to go and eight drivers under 100 points. We'll just have to see if it stays status quo or if Atlanta causes problems for any of the Chasers.
Also, it looked like they picked the wrong track for David Ragan, he seemed to be having a hard time staying out of trouble and was involved in a lot of the cautions.
Your thoughts?

I'm still for Jeff Burton to win this championship, and although I hate the whole mulligan theory, some bad luck was expected during his pursuit of the Cup. Although he can't blame the engine for all of his troubles today, I think he can shake this one off and get back to finishing in the top 5 again next week.

yes, David ragan looked a lot like Larry Foyt out there today.
I too would not mind seeing Jeff Burton win the championship, just somehow feel his accomplishment would be briefly overshadowed by the constant media coverage of "Crying Kim"
God, did I ever get sick to death of that back in Burton's 99 Exide car days!
