NASCAR hands win to Gordon
Wow, yes I'm probably going to get all the Gordon fans mad by this, but oh well. NASCAR handed that win to Gordon, plain and simple, there is no way to explain the whys and timing of the cautions for todays race.
It took NASCAR forever to see Robby Gordon was putting debris down on the track after his tire blew, but they waited until he actually got into his darn pit stall before throwing the yellow. A bit late with that one and then they decided not to throw a caution at all when the same exact thing happens to Jimmie Johnson on lap 91. So what if the car was sparking all over the place more than when Robby's blew, there doesn't need to be a caution.
Of course then there's that last caution, the one that gave Gordon the win. They waited until Ryan Newman was almost side by side with Gordon and then they throw the yellow for rain. There was no way Gordon could have stayed in front of Newman, or Truex Jr. for that matter, for more than one or two more laps at the most.
NASCAR cheated the fans out of a good race and handed the win to Gordon, they need to make it a bit less obvious next time.

Handed him a win?! That wouldn't be jealousy talking would it? This happens all the time -- rain, tires, gast -- duh, things like that often determine a race win.

Kathy, you are an idiot. Newman himself said that if they raced into the next corner, they would have wrecked!!! Sometimes your good and sometimes your lucky! Jeff won this race because of an incredible pit call by his crew cheif. He knew he did not have the car to win racing, so he did what he had to to win. Thats what someone leading the points can do!!!

Before the race, Newman said he sure hoped they could get the DELAYED race in so that he could have Monday off (He had already run postponed races at Richmond, Darlington, Dover and Prelude to the Dream Wednesday at Eldora. It was Newman, himself, who radioed in that it was POURING on the back turn. When the caution was finally called, Jeff and Ryan had well passed the scoring loop, which is why Ryan got so close. During the red flag Jeff and Ryan were talking and laughing -- of course Jeff was doing a rain dance -- every one of these drivers says they'll take the win any way they can! I root for Jeff, but would have been happy to see Newman pick up a win for my friend Tommy, who's been devastated. I know Jeff didn't have the best vehicle, but sometimes the winner doesn't, as we all know. Steve Letarte wasn't just "lucky," he looked up and and made a brilliant decision. Go Jeff, go Ryan, go Dale!

I just have to say, as far as the rain out in Poconos is concerned, did anyone catch the interview after that race from Ryan Newman? Newman, himself said that he was not upset over the way Jeff Gordon won that race. He said that the first race he ever won was because a similar rain delay, it happens. Sure, every driver wishes they could win it by racing until the end but you can't control the weather. If Nascar didn't red flag the race and let's say Newman or Truex did take the lead then crashed because of the weather conditions, the same people that complained over stopping the race would have been po'd that Nascar didn't stop the race because of the weather conditions contributing to a crash! I am a Gordon fan for years now, even when he lost. However, whether he wins or loses doesn't effect my life. Every one of those drivers are outstanding or they wouldn't be out there. I just love racing! Good luck to Dale @ Hendricks! I have a feeling he's going to see more of the results he has been looking for!

Thanks for that. I will stand up and support Jeff when I have to, but online to bunch of faceless folks is futile. I used to take all of the insults and things so personally. I just finally realized that people just don't like Jeff and will say anything to get a rile out of his fans. I'm the only member of my family that is a Gordon fan and have been razzed by family for years. I don't let it get to me. Jeff proves everyone wrong with what he does on the track. And, IMHO, Steve Letarte won that race Sunday, not Jeff.
And as far as Jeff having no talent..blah, blah. Didn't anyone buy the PPV Eldora race. For a guy who's "been handed everything" & "has no talent", he sure did a pretty decent job on a dirt track.
Can't wait till the press conference tomorrow. Because I'm a rarity, I'm a fan of Dale Jr. as well...this will be quite interesting!

Years ago, I read an article in Sports Illustrated about Jeff Gordon. Dale Earnhardt Sr. asked him if he was gay since he didn't have a girlfriend and was the best looking man in nascar (Dale's words not mine, even though I do think he's a nice looking man.) Jeff's answer was no (at the time he was dating Brooke but couldn't say anything since she was a Winston Cup model.) The truth came out when she was no longer a model. I truly believe that's what started the rumors about him being gay. I never once believed it and never will unless he gets on television and says so himself. Go 24!

On a serious note K2, got some Harley parts from some guys that supply the teams like; CV products, WOW talk about an impressive supplier to NASCAR and Clive’s V. people are just great to deal with. Also Andrews, nice gears ect and valve springs we get em from a guy who supplies a few teams. All nice products and bullet proof. Its nice to see all the great products’ still made right there in USA as opposed to the Fling Ling off shore stuff!!

Even with the hi grade lawn fertilizer on here, being a NASCAR fan is still better than being an nfl/nba fan and cheering for some idiot killing dogs on his property or robbing a 7 11 to feed his crack habit!! Or trying to do a 20 year chambermaid. Beats reading about some hollywood 20 year who cant drink and drive or one who cant decide to shave her head or ??? !! And what did that idiot on the Vikings do get caught with a wizanater!! Thank god NASCAR fans don’t have worry about drivers behaving like this. Its more fun to read about all this stuff on here, than read about the nfl, nba,

But, I love it, these Gordon fans proving themselves. Everyone complains about Earnhardt fans, but seriously, Gordon fans have proven themselves to be the biggest jerkoffs.
I'm not whining about Gordon's win, or him, but I am amazed at his fans.
I'm sure if Jeff Gordon read this post, he would be more disappointed with his fans than with Kathy. I would hope that he would have more class than these fans. Wonderboy would be very disappointed in his fanbase.

NASCAR is not "fixed." If you truly beleive that it is "fixed" and the outcome predetermined, why do you watch?
Hendrick just has the better organization - better engineers, better mechanics, better crew-people, and, yes, better drivers. That organization, top to bottom, is simply the best in NASCAR. They work from the same rulebook and templates as everyone else. They just do it better. It is just a fact. Get over it.
Whenever any driver, for any team wins a race, and NASCAR allows the win to stand, then the winner of the race won within the rules. Period. NASCAR, while not perfect, does try to run things fairly, like it or not. They police things pretty well.
If any of the above were not true, then NASCAR would be where it is today. I, for one, would no longer follow the sport. Nor would many others.

We don't throw beer cans when Gordon loses, we don't constantly scream about Gibbs cars having unfair advantages when Tony Stewart wins, and when a race is close and Gordon loses, we're not online screaming "IT'S NOT FAIR!!! NASCAR HELPED HIM WIN!!!WAAHHHHHHHH!!!!"
Most people get over that type of behavior by the time they're about nine years old.

I also noticed you jumping all over someone for saying something about Jr. So it is all right for YOU to bash Gordon/or any other driver you don't like all you want but if someone mentions Jr you jump all over them. You Gordon fans want to act like your beloved Jeffy "GOLDENboy" Gordon deserves all the praise, that is fine, but please don't act like all other fans have to. But if you can't take the fact that we all don't love Jeffy like you do, lay off our drivers.
You all seem to come out of the woodwork when you feel Jeffy has been dissed on this blog, if you really need a daily dose of affirmation for being a loyal Jeffy fan why don't you go a check out one of the many Jeffy Gordon fan blogs or better yet, why don't you go over and read the articles written by Jeff Hammond, Larry Mac and Darrel Waltrip.

Besides I would love for you to point out where she bashed Gordon in her post. Why is it that you all can bash Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and a few other choice drivers all you want, but heaven forbid we say don't praise you beloved Hendrick drivers and you all act like the sky is falling.
You Gordon fans are going on and on with this like someone killed your dog. You all need to lighten up a tad bit.

KUDOS, to all the Gordon fans! Bout time people started standing up for Jeffie. I will agree that we got robbed out of a good race and Jeff would have got passed and struggled to get back to the front and had a slim to none chance to win the race but to say NASCAR gave it to Jeff is the most childish, immature, unrealistic comment that I have ever heard. Of all the drivers on that track, you would think if they were going to give the race to a drive, it would be poor ole June Bug. God love him, he cant pull his head out of his own arss long enought to have any kind of mentionable finish. Had it been him, who "got lucky" we would not be here discussing. BUT once again, you guys cant come up with any better reason to rationalize why Jeff really wins races than to say he cheats and Nascar gives him wins. HMMMM....guess they GAVE him all those (9)dirt track championships before he even thought about drving for Nascar. Who ever made the comment about Jeff never beating Davey, that dude needs some serious counseling. Davey was a good driver at best, but would have never stood up to Jeff Jeff is the man, you guys cant deal with it. Stay outta nascar...we dont need you, you wont be missed, I can assure you of that. Find better hobbies than setting around and trying to figure out why Jeff sucks so bad and seriously try to figure out why cry baby little e is never going anywhere

From where we sat, that was a WWE private jet and we think they screwed up OK, I think we saw the Rock and Steve Austin pouring some Miller Lite on the 24.

No Jon - they don't expect loads of praise to be heaped on Gordon. MOST fans would just settle for a little respect... ALL drivers have fans that could learn a little respect for what others have done. They risk their lives weekly for our entertainment and actually showing some respect over hatred would be nice every once in a while. I was never a Dale Sr. fan but I RESPECTED him and what he was able to accomplish. Too bad a whole LOT of so called fans can't learn to do that as well..... Like I stated above this is just racing and they are just human beings trying to do what they love for a living and NONE of them have personally done anything to any of you to warrant hatred... Disliking a driver is one thing but the flat out hatred on here is pretty darn sad...

Jon - the way you CONSTANTLY go on and on and on and on about Gordon we are all beginning to wonder if you are a closet fan. IF you hate him sooooo much why in the heck do you spend the vast majority of your time on here commenting about him? I have asked this numerous times of you and am still waiting on an answer. If he is so awful and his fans are "lameass" and "apologists" etc, etc.... why in the world would you waste your time commenting on him.... Some of you on here and way too bitter - life is too short to be filled with such bitterness. This is just racing and there are a lot more important things in life than if Nascar handed Gordon or ANY other driver a win.

Okay, I quit reading about 3/4 of the way through all these comments.
First let me say that I'm very disappointed in some of my fellow Jeff Gordon fans. If you are a long-time fan of the 24, such as myself, then you should be used to this kind of stuff by now. I am, and now just find it amusing. Steve Letarte is a very smart guy and made a fantastic call. It could have ended up badly as well. I suppose had that happened, Kathy wouldn't have gotten this many posts.
I've been a Gordon fan for going on 15 years and when he won that first race in Charlotte, I could have never imagined in my wildest dreams that he would've turned into the driver that he is. Congrats to the 24 team on their win.

If you mouse over the names, you'll see two different email addresses. Whoever "Cale" is has a different email address than mine. I have no reason to post here with two email addresses.
Believe what you want, but that trailer park comment was out of line and far beyond anything I'd post. This is a public blog and people are going to react how they want, but I wouldn't personally insult Kathy or anyone else. Differences of opinion, sure, but I did get crossed up and didn't see the other Cale's comment until later in the day...it's difficult posting on a NASCAR blog from work with your bosses' cube behind you...

I'm sure Kathy will have several more times this year to bash Jeff Gordon, I really hope she gets a chance to write at least one about Jr winning, but I doubt that will happen this year.
And as an added thought, should Jr end up driving for Hendrick, what are all you Jr loving Hendrick haters going to do?
Oh well that isn't gonna happen anyway, but something to think about

I am surprised you took so long to join in with all the other childish Gordon fans. But of course you only come out and comment when you feel Kathy disses your beloved Jeffy.
