DEI/Ginn Merger announcement Thursday
On Thursday at Indy, according to many sources, the merger between DEI and Ginn will be announced. According to many articles online, the company will still be known as DEI and Ginn will be a partner, although Sieleg will still run the operation. Everything will supposedly moved over to Ginn's facilities in North Carolina. DEI had been looking to expand their operations but were having trouble finding land, this gets rid of that problem.
Mark Martin will still run the 01 at Indy, but it will be under DEI and not Ginn. Menard will get the points from the 14 car, but will keep the number 15, giving him a guaranteed starting spot in the race. From everything I've read, the 13 will be dissolved, although there were rumors about possibly selling to Furniture Row Racing and the 78.
It appears that Regan Smith will be the odd man out, since he was suppose to start running in the 14 this weekend after the release of Marlin, but before the merger was made. Almirola will supposedly continue as planned to share seat time with Martin for this year and next year. It has been mentioned that Martin will run races next year for DEI, but not in the 01, according to online reports (no official word from DEI yet) he will be in the 8. Who will be in the 01 next year is anyones guess until an official announcement has been made.
It just seems like the letting go of Marlin and Nemechek were part of this, kind of leading up to it, although different reasons were given for letting them go. DEI had said they had hoped to have an announcement by Indy for who will drive the 8 next year and everyone was expecting it to be Kyle Busch, obviously that isn't going to happen now, so everything still seems to be up in the air with him too.
Do you think this merger will be good for all parties involved? Your thoughts?

Well the merger is in fact happening and pretty much all you posted Kat is the case with the issue with MM and Arics #...
I know this is going to turn in to a hate Teresa and max post. But logic is logic. To compete with HMS and Roush this was needed for both parties.
DEI has a awesome facility and Ginn Racing is just as amazing and a hell of alot more up to date than DEI. 7 post shaker, more room and more modern.
This will help Jr. make the transition and the Chase, with MM being there effective now. MM is the best mentor in the garage I have ever seen.
Welcome to the world of the ever changing face of Cup, its a smart business decision and one that needed to happen

I'm just wondering who will be more upset, the Martin fans or the Jr. fans. I know many weren't happy with Martin's move from Ford and now he's with DEI. The Jr. fans will probably be upset with the fact that all of this could have been done sooner and Jr. might not have made the move to go to HMS.
