NASCAR - Penalties could be more harsh
Brian France said NASCAR hasn't ruled out suspending drivers as a penalty for COT infractions. They don't want to, but according to France they could.
We feel very strongly that we're going to be very, very tough on people that test us with the Car of Tomorrow.
It's hard to say if they will really get tougher. There have been three COT penalties handed out and they were all the same as far as points and money, not sure what it would take for them to up the penalties, but I'm sure no one wants to be made an example of NASCAR getting tougher.
NASCAR is also looking into the fact that all three suspended crew chiefs were at the track in New Hampshire. France supposedly met with Helton on Tuesday to discuss it saying it wasn't in the "spirit of the suspension" for them to do that.
If that all is accurate, we will be addressing that shortly.
I guess we'll have to wait and see if they do decide to do anything about that or not. I suspect they'll probably "talk" to the people involved, let them know they can't be at the track and that will be that. We all know how they like to talk tough about things but then not follow through.
Your thoughts?

IMO, someone suspended by NASCAR should not be allowed on track property, period. The reason for suspension is to keep them from participating in competition. Maybe NASCAR should change the wording, instead not being allowed in the garage are, make it the entire facility. ALso, it would be great if they could find a way to block communications between the crew chief and the crews and/or drivers.

I agree Smoke Fan, but I don't think there is any way to block the communications, if there was I would think they would have done it by now.
