What's going on with Team Red Bull?
They knew it would be an uphill battle, two young drivers and new manufacturer and yes, they've struggled, but there seems to be more going on over there than meets the eye.
First we had the rumors back in early September that they might be switching manufacturers possibly to Chevy. That rumor floated around a bit and then was denied by Team Red Bull, yet the rumors kept floating around despite the denial. Then they came out with this statement in a USA Today article...
The rumor keeps coming up, but we are staying with Toyota," Team Red Bull vice president of competition Guenther Steiner said Friday. "We don't want to want leave Toyota, we want to stay with them and I hope I have to say it for the last time now."
OK, rumor denied, the team will stay with Toyota and move on, no changes expected.
Then there was the rumor earlier this month that they wanted to buy Yates shops, because they needed more room to start their own chassis and engine departments. But Team Red Bull had this response...
"Robert Yates did contact us awhile back to see if we were interested in talking with him about purchasing his building or his teams. We weren't - so the conversation ended there. We're committed to building our team from scratch and making our cars competitive. We don't have plans to buy anyone else's team."
That one was kind of strange especially with the fact that Yates decided to retire and hand everything over to his son, but another rumor denied here. Seems like things would stay status quo over at Team Red Bull as they state once again how committed they are.
Then just yesterday we learn that Crew Chief Doug Richert and Team Red Bull part ways, effective immediately. They say it was an amicable split, but that's usually just what teams seem to put out to the media. Usually when it's an effective immediately thing, things didn't end well. Now Vickers will have a new crew chief this weekend at Atlanta and for the rest of the season.
Put all those things together and it's easy to see things aren't going well over there. It just seems like somethings up over there and maybe there may be some truth to some of these rumors floating around. With the rumors and the immediate changes, just says that somethings going on, we just don't know what it is and can only speculate.
Whatever it is, they sure like to keep it quiet and we probably won't hear of anything until the end of the season.
Your thoughts?

Kurt2,
Once again, you indicate you know about the Jimmie Johnson true colors thing, but in the end, ya got nothing to bring to the table except a bunch of curse words. That's why your credibility as an "in the know" person suffers.
Gee whiz Kurt2, I wasn't dissing your position. I'd be happy to just be a waterboy for one of the crews, except for the one that someone a few topics a go mentioned that you were associated with, ya know, the one that apparently lives on the "wild side."
You're right, I'm definitely not qualified to change a tire or find out where the air hose goes. But I know a backyard mechanic who has the pedigree for that one.
Where can he send his resume for consideration?

Kevin,
From what I've read Evernham had to start all over because of the junk data, so I guess it's still a work in progress over there. Also, Penske wants to add that 3rd car from what I've heard and he wants Hornish in it, only time will tell on when that will happen though, he seems pretty set on Hornish and no one else.
Posted by: Kathy | Oct 26, 2007 9:23:20 AM
if its true what evernham says that all their cars were built on junk data.. then we really dont know what kinda COT program everham will have.
DEI has 3 teams in the top 20 owner points i dont see that happening next year
its time for penske to form a third team. or perhaps merge with haas racing and field a four car team.. not sure how haas or cluster eel about dodge but with pending legal prblems and lack of sponsorship penske would be and ideal deal...

Kevin
pretty sure evernham will make the chase with kahne next year...
Kevin dont just seen in a disarray and the 19 is just that a 19th place or lower car?? RE is on down ward spiral and iam not saying a thing about EC.....they are so far behind it seems in their 7 post shaker data......when your renting time on one maybe they have one now? how are you going to be a top cot team next year?
some of these teams are so far behind they are going to think they are in first place when the top dogs pull up on their bumpers!!

K2
Well what can I say?? Sure I bug you and razzzzzzzz you on here BUT Id never throw u under the bus or call you an air hose applicator, try goggling that?? HOWever the best is yet to come for us on here …….. so here goes
Like the Rock use to say on his WWE promos
K2 Take that air hose pull about 100 feet of it, pop on the air chuck, hold it up, look it over, grab a rag and shine it to mirror polish…….. then walk over to JON2 and tell him to bend over, and when does shove that air chuck 10 feet up his ass, like only a professional air hose applicator could do ………then yell back at our infamous gasman buddy or F5 and tell him to turn on the 1,000, 000 psi compressor and see if that tickles Jon2’s ears.
LMAO as u 2 have been a blast on this blog and u 2 are always a fun read!!
Round one last weeks Martinsville K2 you won hands down as Jon didn’t show up….. chicken poop!!
Round two this trb hijacked to hms blog, sorry k2 judge Whoppner calls it a DRAW under team orders from HMS, they called to tell me not to vote!! You know those bs team orders!!
So its 1-1-0 as they in English soccer, two fixtures 1 win 1 draw o defeats and seeing you like "dicks and semens" we’ll have the Rubber match next week lol

Honda? Do you know something? l.o.l.
well you look at their sales and hey its not like they dont like to be in racing...they blew their brains out in F1 and at one time just dominated like no other team with senna and prost winning 15 of 16 races with their 1100 hp 4 cyl grenades

jeff and kimmie have complained over the years during races about the following drivers.
tony stewart, Paul Menard, Michael waltrip, dale earnhardt Jr, Kasey Kahne, robby gordon, johnny sauter, bill elliot, matt kenseth, kyle busch, bobboy labonte, Martin truex jr, denny hamlin, Kevin harvick, jeff green, carl edwards, mark martin, jeff burton the list goes on.
if these guys dont mind getting on the radio and asking joe schmoe from team po to move out of their way or let them run their line what makes you think they arent going to do the same to a teammate.
when you guys take these comments you seem to forget that there are alot of deals made between drivers on the race.
Kurt and fan know this not sure why they choose to ignore it.. oh wait kurt has a blind eye to anything and everything kyle busch does.
kyle busch quotes
when busch was not in the chase
“I know Jimmie is a chase driver, but it doesn't much matter to me, I'm trying to race as hard as I can to win,”
when he was
“I am sure these guys aren't very appreciative that the guy who is going to be racing for them next year just dumped their car that has a great shot for the championship, where he doesn't”
you know its funny that jr apologizes for running his groove and taking the lane busch himself said he gave to him.. he also apoligized for busch rear ending him in a big cloud of smmoke where most drivers would of slowed down
lets not forget about busch running someone below the yellow line. wrecking kvapil because he lost it it on a turn then not even saying a word to kvapil... hmmm was this or before kb said he wanted other drivers respect?
pretty sure evernham will make the chase with kahne next year... the real dodges to watch are kurt busch and ryan newman imo
bill davis racing should have another solid year with year his toyotas.. MWR will outperform red bull overall but vickers will be the strongest toyota of the non jgr teams
im thinking kimmie will have an off year no solid reasoning just think its the nature of things.
was kinda disappointed about talledega the drivers capable of holding off the hendrick assualt at the end were jr and tony, waltrip and treuex and half of them werent even on the pavement at crunch time
Posted by: Kevin | Oct 25, 2007 7:14:22 PM
Aggie,
Honda? Do you know something? l.o.l. GEM & Dodge, hmmmmmmmmmm. Kasey Kahne has had a rough year. Don't know if GEM will rebound next year, but anything has to be better. My Dodge bets would be on Kurt Busch and Ryan Newman with Penske, and Juan Pablo Montoya with Ganassi for 2008.

All I can say is if you give 125% and your driver is not a 4 time cup champion, you need to find another line of work. I heard Kleenex is hiring and they give a discount.

Fed ex ..behave please. Only one is whom I wish right now.
Now JON2;
AS I said and havent "directed "anything at you thus far since the truce. Well you chose to so:)
"Please be more specific since you've positioned yourself as the guy whose "in the know." I'm certain that in your capacity as a tire changer and air hose applicator you hear all the "sewing circle" gossip that goes on in the pits. Please, tickle all of our ears with the latest that's going on at the NASCAR version of Peyton Place"
First and sorry this is not going to be PC nor a happy place for you.So if you are offended go grab your JJ teddy bear and Pj's now.
One my friend, you couldnt take a 8 hours, day a weekend, or a hour of working in this sport.
I am a front tire changer,Not a air hose applicator. Could I do a tire specialist job. Yeah already been there done that.
I have no idea who you are nor do I care, as you feel with me.
If you would like to tell me, the rest of the garage , (well unless you work for the 24 or 48 IYOO), that we do not give 125% each day,or each weekend feel free.
Please go whereever and try changing a tire during a pit stop. Your pencil holder might get in the way.But I can point blank say you couldnt handle it period.
Yeah we are "bad people" we cuss .But thats life. We have a job do do and not care about being PC individuals.
AS I stated prior JJ and me are a personal issue. Personal being the keyword.Since you have a shrine keep bowing to it and dont worry with my issue.
To your "sewing circle" comment.Back to the beginning of this, go and change a tire, there are pit schools, you dont even have to tell me when your candy ass is doing it, please let me know when you do and how you made out.
You cant fathom how it feels on a weekday when you just hurt. Its my job and I love it.So yes I cna prvide a inside look of drivers, teams etc.
Continue to watch Sesame Street and play with Elmo, after that turn into Mr.Roberstons neighborhood.I swear that is where you live.

I don't know if Knauss actually said that Kurt2, the thing about JJ better than Jeff. I'm just repeating what Gretchen indicated in one of her comments and replied accordingly. And that's all I'll say on that matter.
Since you brought it up, what are the 48's true colors, Kurt2? Please be more specific since you've positioned yourself as the guy whose "in the know." I'm certain that in your capacity as a tire changer and air hose applicator you hear all the "sewing circle" gossip that goes on in the pits. Please, tickle all of our ears with the latest that's going on at the NASCAR version of Peyton Place.
Gretchen, quite frankly, as I stated a while back the HMS org is so deep, that certainly it would hurt Jimmie if Chad is suspended but not to the point where it would be of major concern. Toooooo much talent on the frontline at that org. As I recall when Chad was suspended I believe it was for a few races last year, at the outset of that suspend, Jimmie won the next two races. I don't believe Jeff lost ground much when Letarte was suspended this year, in fact discounting the impact of the 100pt thing, he may have gained ground on his competitors. Ya got me.
I know there's a lot of HMS despisers out there, but even if my favorite driver wasn't an HMS guy, objectively, imo that org. is the real deal and there ain't no others that are competing on their level.

And we are SOOO off the TRB subject again...LOL!
yeah its basically turned into a lets bash the 24 and pound the f k out of the 48 lol
k2 you do have a massive woody LOL for that 48-24 and i undertand why, they are just so sqeaky clean and i agree with the f1 tactics in nascar are just bull shit

"Ain't no one born or out there's gonna be born who'll ever have a big enough crotch,"
LOL!!!
Nope noone will ever have a big enough p***y to fill that crotch

"Knaus said his driver is better than Jeff? If he said that, all power to him. Nothing like pumping up your driver. Hey nothing wrong with being a cheerleader"
How did I know that would be our response? thought you had all the facts, he said that last week.
you know where you pulled where Petree and Punch mentioned that database, thats a joke.
Damn I am getting sick on this one Kathy. Shit I think someone is JJ's love child.Damn "toot "a little more. WOW
Go to your screensaver or room and kiss the poster a little more.
No I am not bitter but damn they are drivers and all there human.
As I said many times , dont have a issue with the 24 personally nor professionally.
Sorry Jon2 for the bad words coming. Kimmie has become a little whining baby. Yes , JJ and I are way personal with our distaste for one another.
No never worked for him at all, thank god, but its a sin to watch a driver change that bad from Busch to Cup..
Only could wish the true colors of the 48 are caught on camera one day. Then I will be in absoulte heaven
Posted by: Kurt2 | Oct 25, 2007 4:48:43 PM
Ain't no one born or out there's gonna be born who'll ever have a big enough crotch, or big enough 'girls' if it's a female, to get behind the wheel of the #24 car after Jeff's gone.
Ain't no one ever gonna replace a racing icon like Jeff Gordon.
If this were a Catholic thing, he'd been crowned Pope a long time ago.
Rick H. will petition the powers that be to retire that number.
Posted by: Jon2 | Oct 25, 2007 4:44:17 PM
Another question jon2, what, IYO, would happen if you remove Chad K and Brian Whitsell from the 48 for a suspension?
Posted by: Gretchen | Oct 25, 2007 4:43:13 PM
Yeah, he said that during Martinsville and that ain't the first time he's said it either.
I have one confession which will upset some of my fellow Jr. fans......I didn't want TE Jr to get out of his contract at DEI. I was hoping that Gustafson was going to be DE Jr's CC next year.
K2, do you think the jrs, with HMS "stuff", will fare better next year, or should, IYO, Dale Jr. started "fresh" on the Island?
And we are SOOO off the TRB subject again...LOL!
Posted by: Gretchen | Oct 25, 2007 4:39:32 PM
Knaus said his driver is better than Jeff? If he said that, all power to him. Nothing like pumping up your driver. Hey nothing wrong with being a cheerleader. That's what Knaus gets paid to do. Prepare the car correctly according to the track, and get your driver in a good mental frame.
I'll give Chad credit, he's a very very good CC and in my opinion better than Jeff's current CC. Of course, he's had a few more years on the frontline than what Letarte has had on top of the pit box.
In fact, I believe that JJ has the big MO going for him and has always fared well at Atlanta, the next race. Jeff's gonna have a hard time keeping ahead of Jimmie in the points column imo.
Posted by: Jon2 | Oct 25, 2007 4:31:57 PM
All I can say "De Plane boss de plane"
Fantasy Island
Damn alot of people are going to be upset in the next few years when the 24 goes. With what he has made and what he makes off Kimmie. he will be just fine.
Cant wait to see the reaction to whom replaces the driver of the 24
Posted by: Kurt2 | Oct 25, 2007 4:26:08 PM
So, what you're saying is that he's the "greatest" driver?
I see......................
Anyway, what say you to Chad Knaus refering to Kimmie "Pass the Puffs and Poise Pads" Johnson being the "better driver"?
Posted by: Gretchen | Oct 25, 2007 4:17:23 PM
Gretchen,
The modern era according to most NASCAR followers consists of such drivers as Darrell Waltrip, Dale Earnhardt, and Bobby Allison who began their CUP driving careers in the 1970's with the arrival of the Winston Cup sponsorship which I believe occurred in 1972.
In the modern era record book Darrell leads in the category of wins at 84 with Jeff now very close behind.
Posted by: Jon2 | Oct 25, 2007 4:02:48 PM
"Gretchen,
I know, us Jeff Gordon fans can go overboard with our praise and adulation of the greatest driver in modern CUP history"
Do tell sir, what do you mean by "modern cup" history?
Posted by: Gretchen | Oct 25, 2007 3:18:55 PM
OH F5 there "diving" styles are quite similar....LOL. Just playing w you.
He marketed himself-admittedly by JJ himself- to RH and JG very well. Me thinks he's full of poopie. Their driving styles couldn't be more different. Jeff can drive. JJ can't.
Posted by: Gretchen | Oct 25, 2007 3:04:26 PM

his post on that was"envy, jealousy and team players".
Yeah WTF ever.Love to see him do any form of a job in the sport for even 8 hours.
You know 5 what the Yates move means, not on paper but what is really means.
You are dead on on the 24 and 48, no similairty at all.

No Red Bulls won't work for me. I am an energy drink JUNKIE. ( Not like Fike, he's smack junkie-lol) But that damned Mountain Dew Amp ( the green one) is TERRIBLE. I tried one. Oh god it is horrible. The Red Amp is pretty good. But. Red Bull drinks are the bomb. Red Bull Racing has been bombed though
Posted by: Gretchen | Oct 25, 2007 2:57:08 PM
I get it NOW!...earlier I asked K2 WHEN did he come over to the Yota camp...Now THATS funny! I don't care who ya are, that's funny...I guess that one wasn't as subtle as previous ones sprinkled in posts to throw the common fans off...I was wonder how you and your teamates diseminated testing data K2?
I think that JJ...mediocre driver...was hired thinking that his diving style is simular to JG, But in fact it is strickingly different! But the #25 and the #5 became R&D teams.
I am REALLY dissapointed with Toyota's foray into Cup...I had already expected 2 wins by now, and Jack Roush's "declaration of War" only fueled the fire...I feel bad for Yates moving next door because of all the negativity the permiates that facillity hass seeped in THAT shop...case in point, Boris Said' comments at 'Dega...he became a taller version of JR!
I hope Kyle ( never thought I'd say this) Wins the 500 to rub it in some peoples faces...I was NOT a KYB fan...before, Moniker is Krista Voda's fifth fan! But as Kyle has matured, he's goen on me like his bro!
And about teams/shops/owners not giving 125%! Bullcrap! and K2 you know what I'm talking about.

Kimmie " Get off my bumper, stop racing me hard, get out from behind me, get from beside me, and move over. Can I get a team order please Rick?!?" Johnson is NOT a non-stink driver. He has a non-stink cc, and plenty of to's to keep his pretty squeaky clean a$$ up front.
