Burton wins final Busch Series race - Childress wins Owners Championship
Jeff Burton won the final Busch Series race at Homestead over Carl Edwards and Mark Martin. Ironically, Richard Childress owns the winning car and he won the Owners Championship too. Mark Martin put on quite a charge to challenge Burton and had me worried there for a few laps, but then Edwards got in the mix and it helped let Burton pull ahead.
Interestingly, the car that won the Owners Championship was driven by two drivers during the season, Jeff Burton and Scott Wimmer, because they split time in the car, neither will be at the table at the Busch Series Banquet, but teammate Kevin Harvick will, finishing fourth in the standings even though he didn't run all the races.
Lots of cautions and most of the open wheel guys had trouble, another reason why I think they shouldn't be able to jump right up to the Cup Series.
Now it's the end of an era, the Busch Series is no more, next season it will be the Nationwide Series...Busch did the series proud and I'm sad to see them go. Don't be surprised if I slip up from time to time next season and call it the Busch Series, that's all I've ever known it to be called.
Congrats to Burton and Richard Childress and all of RCR.

Jeff Burton is without doubt the classiest guy on the track, in any of the NASCAR series. He is the "Virginia Gentleman".

Well its done F5 cut the damn lights out and take the quarter panel home to work on for the next 2 months and that damn splitter, sick of it cutting my hand.LOL
Be at the diner Tues for lunch.
First good job for Dave, knew you'd be happy on that 5.
Congrats to Robbie Resier Matt and the Bees, going out as top dog in final "old car " race ever.
Time to breathe , relax, heal and get some time off>>>>>
Will I miss it, hell no not next weekend. But it was bittersweet walking that walk for the final time before the race. Then relief set in.
Everyone was in a good moood , well till i saw Smoke after the race.

Jon2,
You say we took your comments about Harvick complete out of context and then in the next post you insult him, that's why we think of you as a Harvick hater.
As to me despising Gordon, I don't despise any driver. I admit I don't like Gordon, but I don't despise him, not hate him.
Posted by: Kathy | Nov 18, 2007 7:38:48 PM
J2
Did you even watch racing before Gordon came along??
Posted by: bandit | Nov 18, 2007 7:29:00 PM
Fan #5,
Most Gordon fans are bandwagon fans, the only reason they even are fans of Gordon is because he wins, besides there isn't any other reason to be a fan of Gordon. LOL
Posted by: Jon | Nov 18, 2007 7:16:41 PM
J2, ONCE AGAIN...being a "Bandwagoneer" is showing...Steve Park won in a DEI car at the North Carolina Motorspeeday following Dale's death...Kevin Harvick won at Atlanta the following week!
Posted by: Fan #5 | Nov 18, 2007 7:00:12 PM
Jon2,
Kathy doesn't despise Jeff Gordon, just because she doesn't fawn over him like you doesn't mean she despises him.
Posted by: Jon | Nov 18, 2007 5:46:56 PM
Bandit,
And what is that fishy thing happening at HMS? Not all the media types are fans of Hendrick so I'm certain if the fix was on one of them would spill the beans, such as Kathy who despises Jeff Gordon and probably the HMS org in particular.
Why is it, and forget that I just happen to be a HMS fan, that certain orgs., the very wealthy, who are successful in life, of course, must have cheated to get there (my sarcasm)?
Well here's to hoping Jimmy makes a mistake and Jeff is crowned his fifth. Ain't gonna happen, but.........
Posted by: Jon2 | Nov 18, 2007 3:58:38 PM
As I recall, wasn't Harvick supposed to be anointed Dale Sr's heir apparent on the Childress team? I believe he won the next race after Senior's death and was to have gone on to great things in the CUP series as a result of his aggressiveness and the black car.
Can somebody whose in the know on these matters tell me what happened?
Posted by: Jon2 | Nov 18, 2007 3:49:29 PM
I don't care what you say J2. There is just something Fishy going on at Hendricks.
Posted by: bandit | Nov 18, 2007 3:46:39 PM
Hate Harvick, you people take a comment and extrapolate it all over the place. Completely out of context.
I just said he was a homely looking guy. Now what type of despicable comments have I heard from many of you folk about Jimmy J and Jeff Gordon. Oh that's right, different rules apply.
Did you just hear what I just heard on ABC's mini documentary regarding Rick Hendrick? Steinbrenner of motorsports.....the bedrock of motor sport racing. The loss of his son, brother and his daughters in that terrible plane crash. The fight with leukemia. Very touching.
Absolutely Aggie. Success has it's perks.

SteveH
Harvick Haters lol they are everywhere
like em or hate them, the kev and DeLana have a great lil up coming org and who knows how big or successful they will be one day in nascar
Posted by: aggie | Nov 18, 2007 3:22:49 PM
SteveH, you're lucky then. Hope you enjoy the race too.
Posted by: Kathy | Nov 18, 2007 1:25:45 PM
Kurt2,
You are right, the Monster is another heavy duty trophy.
Posted by: Jon | Nov 18, 2007 1:25:24 PM
Congratulations to Jeff Burton for his win at Homestead. Congratulations to Richard Childress, his family, and all of the R.C.R. employees for Owners Championship. Harvick Haters, don't know any myself, all of them must live on the east coast. Enjoy the race!
Posted by: SteveH. | Nov 18, 2007 12:57:41 PM
Yeah Kurt2, Harvick haters are everywhere, they don't like to see emotion, especially a driver getting angry over something or one that will do what it takes to win, they'd rather see the pc robots in the cars.
Posted by: Kathy | Nov 18, 2007 12:14:15 PM
Jon, that is in fact a heavy trophy. Kinda like the MONSTER at Dover.
Race fan: you have to understand there are many Harvick haters in the world. I never hae had a issue dealing with or Delana at all, good people. But to some just becasue you get pissed off on the track, because you wont to win, you must be a jerk. Know what I mean...
OFF subject, finally got to watch a college game last night. Thank god Gretchens (and Debs?) dawgs won or Gretcehn would be killing someone.LOL
Havent gotten to see much but sees if you are in the Top 5 this year you are looking to get beat. OKlahoma lost, BC has lost,LSU and the list continues.
Posted by: Kurt2 | Nov 18, 2007 10:27:58 AM
Congrats to Jeff Burton and Richard Childress for winning the race and the owners championship.
It looked like Carl Edwards had a bit a trouble lifting the Busch Championship trophy over his head. I can tell you that I can understand why, that Busch Series trophy is extremely heavy. He made a comment that maybe he needs to lift more weights.
It is an end to the era of Busch and we have to say hello to Nationwide for next year.
Posted by: Jon | Nov 18, 2007 8:31:57 AM
Congrats the RCR, JB, and the entire 29 team. Also congrats to Carl and his team for winning the points. Two great performances this year.
Farewell to Busch...thanks for the great years.

K2
Aggie, you OW boys need a clue, even though Homestead might as well be a foriegn country they blew tonight.
nascar has in some ways always been a monkey see monkey do series and right now its OW's with sponsors or cash that some teams need or want, short term ok long term who knows
a guy like DF whats he going to do in irl if its even around?? so he probably thought hey cup is going to be around for ever so he jumps over with CC in his pocket and CG says hello and here is a car....sad for all the guys trying to make their way up thru short tracks thru out the usa :(
K2 did u ever see that episode of WT with JJ on it??

Congrats to Richard Childress and the
whole gang at RCR on winning the "Owners
Championship".
Congrats to Jeff Burton on winning the
final Busch race.
It's kinda sad to see Busch go and it's
going to take some getting use to calling
it the Nationwide Series next year.
I agree with Kathy on these OW drivers,
they should have to climb the ladder like
all the rest of the drivers have had to
do.
"Happy Thanksgiving" to all of you.
Posted by: Angel | Nov 18, 2007 1:18:26 AM
jon2 just likes to comment about shit to piss ya'll off.
the dumber the crap he says the more he tries to ruin your day.
he reminds me of a 12 year old who used to chat in a nascar room years ago and started every other sentence with "dad gum" or however you spell it.
as far as rick hendrick, i don't think he spends a lot of time saying here's some crumbs have fun with them. i think he's a hyper freaking competitive person and thinks about his stuff and how to improve his company.
jon2 is a little bitch who likes to piss you off.
Posted by: exile | Nov 18, 2007 12:46:55 AM
Congratulations Richard and everyone at
RCR on winning the "Owners Championship".
Nice to see Richard smiling again.
Also, congrats to Jeff Burton on his
Busch win.
It's sad to see Busch go, I'm like Kathy,
I'll probably still call it the Busch,
it's all I have ever known.
Kurt2
Your mom has got to be a super person and
I am sure she is very proud of you.
Jon2
I don't know where you get calling Kevin
Harvick ugly. I have met and talked with
Kevin Harvick and to me, he is one good
looking guy. He's very pleasant, easy to
talk with and has a gorgeous smile.
Gosh! why bring the driver's wives into
this.
Posted by: Race Fan | Nov 18, 2007 12:33:56 AM
LOL No flipping yet, still one more race to go...I'll probably do that next weekend.
Posted by: Kathy | Nov 17, 2007 11:00:28 PM
LOL , thanks Barb. He gripes me in genearl but there is no call for that.
Kathy are you flipping yet?
Posted by: Kurt2 | Nov 17, 2007 10:58:48 PM
I know your mom is very proud of you, K2. Good luck tomorrow.
Posted by: Barb g | Nov 17, 2007 10:55:43 PM
Barb G,
Thank you glad its not just me, and i hate when a male has to be a asshole much less a pig asshole... No call for that.
My mom taught me women were to be respected and treated right not pieces of meat or sounding boards.
Posted by: Kurt2 | Nov 17, 2007 10:11:55 PM
I agree again Barb :)
Posted by: Kathy | Nov 17, 2007 10:10:03 PM
I didn't want to sully my congratulation post with anything relating to the "upscale fan". Upscale? I don't think so. Ugh. His mommy needs to take his computer away before he hurts himself.
Posted by: Barb g | Nov 17, 2007 10:04:33 PM
Yes Barb g, it was great to see that big old smile on his face, haven't seen him smile like that in a long time.
Posted by: Kathy | Nov 17, 2007 10:04:32 PM
Congrats to the whole RCR bunch for a job well done. It's so nice to see a huge smile on Richard's face.
Posted by: Barb g | Nov 17, 2007 10:02:18 PM
F5, you didnt respond to the reflecting pool meeting? YES I KNOW where to meet you...
Kathy you are so right, he portrays himself as upscale but the pig came out.
F5,Humm yeah i heard RC used the same car Sr wont he first one in.LOL
Posted by: Kurt2 | Nov 17, 2007 9:52:33 PM
I think you're right Fan5.
Great job by RCR, not sure if Dale won the first, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did.
Sad to see Busch go as I'm sure many are, but no matter what it's called, it'll still be the Busch Series to me.
Posted by: Kathy | Nov 17, 2007 9:51:01 PM
Kat, I think J2's 7th grade intellect is showing!...sorry for the "cut and paste" I posted this on the other blog...funny me
Ironman, I feel left out! you didn't mention Toyota in your rant?...But I mentally put it in there!
Jon2, I unnderstand where K2 is coming from! Aurguing with you is much like teaching a dog to sing...you waste your time , and annoy the dog!
Congratulations to the entire Richard Childress Racing organization on wraping up the Owners Championship, and winning the LAST Busch race!!....Hmmmm didn't Dale Earnhardt win the first?...was a RCR prepped car???

Jon2,
For you, everything may revolve around HMS, but not for everyone else. He's not leaving "crumbs" for others to pick up as you seem to think.
And Kurt2 is right, the comment about Delena and the other wives showed no class at all, definitely not something you would expect from an upscale fan as you call yourself.
Posted by: Kathy | Nov 17, 2007 9:29:38 PM
Umm dipshit, I know it all J2...
"Mark did a real good job though for someone driving part time and in addition with a team also on an extremely part time basis.".
Umm earth to Ricks Hendrick ass... The team isnt part time idiot, it was Casey Meas pit crew. UMM HENCE THE NATIONAL GUARD UNIFORMS>.You must have been eating bon bons at the time. So your crumbs musr have fallen.
You are so on your one with calling Mark Martin elderly.Any blog will will slam you for that.
NEXT:
"NASCAR didn't drop the yellow flag when they should have and let Kevin Harvick and his twin suited babe, she is so good looking, win the race. How did someone so ugly as him get something that hot is beyond me? It has to be the money.
They oughta get one of the bikini poster things going for the NASCAR wives, and donate all the proceeds to the Victory Junction Gang camp. Include Ingrid, Delena, Chandra, and have a spread with Kim Burton crying, oh yeah, don't wanna forget Ashley, and Montoya's hot latino wife, and Mikey's wife ain't a bit shaggy, and include Brooke in the ex-wife's section area. "
That above showed no class at all. Have knon Kevin and Delana for years. Trust me you think Grethcen would kick the shit out of you? Delana would bea your ass in 3.5 secs.
You can have the rest of the post above as they arent anything to look to look at minus Kim and Delana.
You must like the "duh look" as Chandra and Ingrid are nothing to write home about nor is Connie. Ewwwww you made my damn skin crawl thinking of that. TV does them justice trust me.
Thanks for getting a clue and not mentioning Patty Petty in there. Oh thats right minus Delana and Kim you were on your hell bent classless time.
As far as Brooke you can have her , everyone else did.:)
Posted by: Kurt2 | Nov 17, 2007 9:21:16 PM
I agree about the open wheel guys. I think you should only be able to run a max of 5 cup races per season unless you have a full season of busch or trucks under your belt.
As far as Jeff, Scott, and Richard, great job, I would LOVE to see Jeff win a drivers champ in cup, the man deserves it.
Posted by: another joe | Nov 17, 2007 9:06:36 PM
No Mark didn't win for HMS or his team today. Ya got something against the elderly, Kurt2?
But HMS has got to spread the love around and make the other guys feel special once in a while. It's called being extremely unselfish, that's one of RH's finer qualities. Let the other guys eat the crumbs that fall off my table, that sort of thing. Let 'em win some in the JV league, and we'll clean their clocks when the big dogs duke it out in the tall grass.
Mark did a real good job though for someone driving part time and in addition with a team also on an extremely part time basis. I'll give him that. Remember, Mark almost won the big D in a car with an HMS engine in it but lost it because NASCAR didn't drop the yellow flag when they should have and let Kevin Harvick and his twin suited babe, she is so good looking, win the race.
Oh yes, congrats big time Jeff Burton, a really great guy.

Live from Homestead its Sat night. Yeah that was corny.
Congrats to Richard, and RCR. Great year. They kicked our butts.
Glad to see RC happy as he was and Mrs. Childress came. He's a happy man.
After the struggle with losing Sr, and almost hanging it up, glad to see that man so happy.
Jeff drove a great race , it was a good night.
Aggie, you OW boys need a clue, even though Homestead might as well be a foriegn country they blew tonight.
Sorry to see the Clydesdales and Busch go.
Oh J2, interesting.
Somewhere a little tidbit came into play, 13 wins this year and 13 Championships for RCR.
Damn they must suck.
Nothing against Mark Martin at all, but he was in a HMS car and humm the Holiday Inn car won. Oopps not a HMS car.
Guess RH can only be "amazing" in one series.
