Burton wins final Busch Series race - Childress wins Owners Championship
Jeff Burton won the final Busch Series race at Homestead over Carl Edwards and Mark Martin. Ironically, Richard Childress owns the winning car and he won the Owners Championship too. Mark Martin put on quite a charge to challenge Burton and had me worried there for a few laps, but then Edwards got in the mix and it helped let Burton pull ahead.
Interestingly, the car that won the Owners Championship was driven by two drivers during the season, Jeff Burton and Scott Wimmer, because they split time in the car, neither will be at the table at the Busch Series Banquet, but teammate Kevin Harvick will, finishing fourth in the standings even though he didn't run all the races.
Lots of cautions and most of the open wheel guys had trouble, another reason why I think they shouldn't be able to jump right up to the Cup Series.
Now it's the end of an era, the Busch Series is no more, next season it will be the Nationwide Series...Busch did the series proud and I'm sad to see them go. Don't be surprised if I slip up from time to time next season and call it the Busch Series, that's all I've ever known it to be called.
Congrats to Burton and Richard Childress and all of RCR.
Your thoughts?

Live from Homestead its Sat night. Yeah that was corny.
Congrats to Richard, and RCR. Great year. They kicked our butts.
Glad to see RC happy as he was and Mrs. Childress came. He's a happy man.
After the struggle with losing Sr, and almost hanging it up, glad to see that man so happy.
Jeff drove a great race , it was a good night.
Aggie, you OW boys need a clue, even though Homestead might as well be a foriegn country they blew tonight.
Sorry to see the Clydesdales and Busch go.
Oh J2, interesting.
Somewhere a little tidbit came into play, 13 wins this year and 13 Championships for RCR.
Damn they must suck.
Nothing against Mark Martin at all, but he was in a HMS car and humm the Holiday Inn car won. Oopps not a HMS car.
Guess RH can only be "amazing" in one series.

No Mark didn't win for HMS or his team today. Ya got something against the elderly, Kurt2?
But HMS has got to spread the love around and make the other guys feel special once in a while. It's called being extremely unselfish, that's one of RH's finer qualities. Let the other guys eat the crumbs that fall off my table, that sort of thing. Let 'em win some in the JV league, and we'll clean their clocks when the big dogs duke it out in the tall grass.
Mark did a real good job though for someone driving part time and in addition with a team also on an extremely part time basis. I'll give him that. Remember, Mark almost won the big D in a car with an HMS engine in it but lost it because NASCAR didn't drop the yellow flag when they should have and let Kevin Harvick and his twin suited babe, she is so good looking, win the race. How did someone so ugly as him get something that hot is beyond me? It has to be the money.
They oughta get one of the bikini poster things going for the NASCAR wives, and donate all the proceeds to the Victory Junction Gang camp. Include Ingrid, Delena, Chandra, and have a spread with Kim Burton crying, oh yeah, don't wanna forget Ashley, and Montoya's hot latino wife, and Mikey's wife ain't a bit shaggy, and include Brooke in the ex-wife's section area.
Oh yes, congrats big time Jeff Burton, a really great guy.
