Let the withdrawls begin
Ok, this is weekend one of the off-season...great for the drivers, crews and everyone that works in the sport, but that means the start of withdrawls for NASCAR fanatics.
I'm sure the holidays make it a little easier for some, family is over, college football is on, etc., but if you don't watch football, this starts the long off-season of finding things to do on the weekends when you're normally watching racing.
What do you do during the off-season to pass the time? I usually complain, play NASCAR video games, other games, complain, do things with the kids, get ready for Christmas and did I mention complain? :)
In other words, I drive my family nuts waiting for NASCAR to start up again.
So how do you handle the off-season?
Oh and only 78 days until the Bud Shootout.

OK, since jon2 has decided to let Deb know that this is a NASCAR blog, I do apologize for speaking about football. I thought we could talk around and about everything.
I mean, damnit jon2 YOU- I said YOU- turn every god***n subject Kathy writes about into an HMS LOVEFEST. And THAT is supposed to be OK huh? But some of us shouldn't speak about football? I see. This is an HMS/jon2 worl and we all just occupy space in it.

EN,
In a nutshell, you're saying enjoy it while you can.
And I'm LOVING every minute of it.
K2,
What changes are in the air? Would you be more specific, instead of your typical vagueness.
Chad K will probably get suspended again, next year or the one after because he tends to push the envelope for better performance, and that's what Rick pays him and Steve to do. Try to get that extra edge over your competition.
Posted by: Jon2 | Nov 27, 2007 8:33:32 AM
aggie, you sure? Dario Franchitti won the 2007 500. The 1995 crowd were CART guys, meaning they weren't racers but merely pampered technology conduits. Jerk Villeneuve won that race because Scott Goodyear blew it away by jumping the last restart.
CART was a corrupt series that deserved to be killed. Tony George was right in what he did in 1996.

NEWFLASH>
JJ wont the Championship.J2 please give up on it, its said and done and I think ENation said it just perfect.
Changes are in the air.......
AS a blog we should bet on when Chad K gets suspended next year.... WE know it will happen.Just when will it????...

Jon2,
yes,you have much reason to be cocky after the awesome performance of the jeff and jimmy show..I'll give you that..but remember this..as in any sport no team dominates on top for long.
The YANKEES fell,as did the LAKERS,STEELERS and 49ERS, hockey fans were lucky WAYNE GRETZKY was only one man and not 20 people, but even his teams eventually bowed to others..and just like my boy EARNHARDT found out with D.E.I.'S domination of restrictor plate races a few years ago, nothing in nascar can be kept secret for long...teams will catch up to HENDRICK's boys.....and the ''car of tomorrow'' will leave HENDRICK wanting back the "car of yesterday".

We all get it!! You say the same thing over and over again. You just say it differntly every time.Your point has been made. My question to you is,, Have you always been this way?? Life is good, Enjoy it..

Deb,
This is a NASCAR related blog. There are blogs that cater to the football enthusiasts elsewhere.
You said it right, not much choice when one team dominates.
Sneaky Pete,
The ex-felon's done quite well, billion dollar enterprise, successful NASCAR teams, championships, and hope is the only thing you've got at this point, 'cause it appears no other team's got the formula to kick 'em off the mountain.
Posted by: Jon2 | Nov 26, 2007 6:30:56 PM
Jon2,
Weeeeeeeeee Doooooooooooon't give 2 shiiiiiiiiiiiiits!!! Can you not find something elso to do, like watch a good football game or are you still hyperventilating over the felon and his cheatin boys?????????????
SneakyPete,
That was soooooooooooooooo good. Felony Motors Bunch. That was great. That would be them. You just made my day.
Agg,
Did your Patty boy almost get hurt last night. Didn't watch it. That Redskins game did me in. I'm sure Gibbs chewed those boys bad.
Gretch,
I hate that this game is between the Vols and LSU, but I can't stand LSU and don't have much love for Tenn, but just like the Felony Motor's Bunch, we don't have much choice.
Posted by: Deb | Nov 26, 2007 5:16:37 PM
It always seems like such a short time until it all starts again at Daytona, doesn't it? Usually just catch up on DVD's and some of the TLC stuff like "Little People, Big World" and the "Planet Earth" series, which is just awesome (didn't see any of it the first time around). Don't know if anyone here is a big reader but I love to read, also, and can do more of that, too--mags and books both. Hope all had a nice Turkey Day :)
And YEAH! Am I sick of the 48 show, too--beyond sick of it. Can only hope Smoke & Zippy can give that Felony Motors bunch a run for it next year.....

Here's some nice news regarding a NASCAR team.
Petty Enterprises hires Jeff Meendering a HMS employee for 13 years, to be Bobby Labonte's CC for next year. Jeff started out sweeping floors when he was 18 years old at HMS and rose through the ranks, sitting under the tutelage of Loomis and Letarte former and current respectively CC's for Jeff Gordon.
Nice to see someone climb the corporate ladder.

Deb MS G and K2
iam taping out on the college football.
i'd have to root thru 4 months of SI's to catch up with you guys and all these players, teams ect
lets bash the IRL, instead and overated drivers like ES, MW JMacM, ect oooops LOL and of RCR !!! LOL
nice lil scare for the pats last nite, brady was actually HIT
Posted by: aggie | Nov 26, 2007 2:53:40 PM
Oh you know they are still reeling from that, and even though we handedly beat them, they have ZERO respect for us. And even less for Tennessee. We only differ on one issue thusfar. I want LSU to beat the everloving$hit out of Fat Phil and the Tennessee Volunteers. LMAO!! LSU won't jump us in the polls- we are 4th in both and the BCS rankings. In an ideal world- which I learned during NASCAR 2007 does NOT exist for my teams/drivers- both Mizzou AND West Va. would lose and WE could slide our butts into that title game. But alas we don't deserve it. We DID lose AT HOME to a $hitty South Carolina team, and got the hell beat out of us in Knoxville. But it would be nice anyway........
And yes, any a$$wipe that jumps into a pond, lake, creek, or stream down in these parts deserves to have their butt bit. lol!

Could give 2 craps less on the Pro games, overrated, overpaid.
so are lots of the guys in nascar, so dont you dont be bitting the hand that feeds you lol

MIKE D
The starters in the 1995 Indy 500 were for the most part forgettable.
oh yeah, your right the 2007 guys are hold names ?? NO ONE EVEN REMEMBERS THE winners name??
no one in that 07 field could carry the jock strap of some of the guys in the 95 field.
Posted by: aggie | Nov 26, 2007 2:41:29 PM
Gretch,
I hope all those Nasty Gators are still puking over our wonderful win. I saw where Tech gave their coach the boot since they haven't beatin the Dawgs in forever. The only happy Gator right now is the one in the pond. Any fool who would jump in a pond in Fl is truly a stupid ass. That Gator deserves a Crown.
John,
Yes, I also hope Tenn kicks LSU's butt. Did you see that Tenn and Kentucky game? That was insane. Didn't think it would ever end. Anyone except Tebow is just fine with me!!!!!!!!! No Tebow here.

Glad to see your are in a good mood today:)
Didnt hear about the idiot aand the alligator, too damn funny, got what he deserved
John,
like Mcfadden too, like I said, dont car as long as its not freaking overrated Tebow.
Woody, Tebow and the Gators= overrated. Sorry
the one thing more screwed up than NASCAR is the BCS
Posted by: Kurt2 | Nov 26, 2007 1:33:04 PM
Oh yeah, I heard that. Unlucky bastard right there....
A man was shot in the head in Gainesville Saturday following the game. It was a crowded parking garage and for no reason other than road rage, some punk walks up to the car window and shoots the kid. Man, there are some F****d up folks in the world. Glad we all just bless each other out on the net. LOL!!!
Posted by: Gretchen | Nov 26, 2007 12:51:45 PM
Hey Kurt2, Deb, Gretchen,
Did you guys hear about the two guys who were trying to steal a car down in florida? Thes two guys got caught red handed by the law. Well one guy just stood up and surrendered, but the other guy ran across the road, jumped in a pond, and in that pond was a 9 foot hungry gator!
CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP!
DA DADADA, GO GATORS !!!
That gator saved us all a little tax money!
Maybe the gators aint so bad after all!
LOL
Posted by: John | Nov 26, 2007 12:43:19 PM
Hey Kurt2,
The guy who deserves the heismann is Darren Mcfadden. And thats coming from an Oklahoma fan. I don't loke the gators either. Hope Tennessee kicks Lsu's arse saturday.

Hey Jon,
Boomer Sooner to you! A former season ticket holder here. 25 years! Till kidney failure took me out of the stands of the south end zone.
Back to Kathy's point, I watch NHL during the winter. Since I played goalie in my younger days, I like to watch the goalies and see if the styles have changed since I was between the pipes.
Thats the only thing worth watching till the race season starts up. NBA has turned into a "street ball league" and I hate it.
College bball aint much better.
On to a funny story:
During the Ford 400 I was out north of my house watching the race with a friend who is a Matt Kenseth fan. During the race he goes and gets a six foot tall cardboard standup of Matt and sets it up in the living room where we were. Well his dog proceeds to bark and bark and bark etc. Till he had to take the standup of Matt out of the room. I laughed and told him that his dog had more sense than he did.
I promptly got the finger for that remark!
LOL

Damn Michael Waltrip has foiled my internet at home...Since Friday!...and repair guy won't be o8ut till Thursday!!...Must be an ISC owned company! Went to Wally World yesterday to get some stuff...I LOVE the Sunday after Black Friday, damn near had the place to myself! downside was they where out of Nascar 08...EA Sports its JUST a game! So I'll hone up my skills w/ NascaR 4, I even get the pucker factor goin' 3 wide at 'Dega...and even tho it's a Sim, I still fear the wall!
Posted by: Fan#5 | Nov 26, 2007 11:19:21 AM
ENation.
I see your point truly i do, but to me major difference in competitors in NASCAR than the NFL.......
I agree with your point , we can all thank Brian F for NASCARS current state.
Posted by: Kurt2 | Nov 26, 2007 11:02:40 AM
Hey Deb, Ga Tech feels right now like we do about the Gayturds. We've won 7 straight, and 16 out of 20!!! Whooooo Whaaaaa!!!
The only thing that blows about Okla. beating Mizzou is that $hitty a$$ Ohio State might slide into that BCS title game against West Va. And have ya'll seen that movie, " The Wrong Turn"? OMG! Everytime I see West Va. or think of the state of West Va. I think about that movie and those inbred people that were killing those college students...LOL!
Kathy, as if you didn't know, I watch college football as much as NASCAR. Well, maybe not THAT much.......
Posted by: Gretchen | Nov 26, 2007 10:06:37 AM
K2,
What are you talking about?
I'm just a simple man. Please speak in straightforward English.
"...exhibition Sat....M Trower....airgun....cheerleader..." What is all this referring to? Your friend in Homestead was on exhibition on Saturday? What?
Posted by: Jon2 | Nov 26, 2007 8:28:54 AM
aggie, CART failed because it was all smoke and mirrors. The IRL had to be formed; it had far better racing and a better rules package than CART had. The starters in the 1995 Indy 500 were for the most part forgettable.
Posted by: Mike Daly | Nov 25, 2007 10:20:02 PM
Kurt2, no disrespect, but you said you could care less about pro football..cause they are overrated and overpaid, and that you prefer college instead....well I seen plenty of proffesional nascar drivers that were overrated and overpaid this year...if some changes aren't done in nascar soon, people will be watching the minor leagues of racing with more excitement than in the big league.

Jon,
saw that on Si ....
Dont know, think Chase is as well, better prepared. Damn kid has a arm on him and doesnt get spooked easily.
Should be interesting..
But hell the BCS standings are like NASCAR F'd
Posted by: Kurt2 | Nov 25, 2007 6:35:41 PM
Kurt2,
I understand what you mean, Daniel gave a lot of trouble in the first game. I think we will be much better prepared this Saturday. There are a lot of great QB's in the Big 12, our QB set the freshman record for TD's with 32 so far this season with 2 more games to go.
Posted by: Jon | Nov 25, 2007 6:26:40 PM
Jon,
didnt know that at first but someone told me....
Dont know Chase looks like a machine.
I am so far behind on lots of College football its bad, dont get alot of time on Sats
Saw that kid last night, and has a great damn arm and alot of composure.
Could give 2 craps less on the Pro games, overrated, overpaid.
Posted by: Kurt2 | Nov 25, 2007 5:55:25 PM
Kurt2,
We already faced Chase Daniel this year and we were able to beat them, but you are right he is a good QB.

speaking of guys with $$$
JJ in all won what 15 million last year and what another 15mil this from nascar wow nice income, i dont know the split with the car owner but that is a heck of lot of cash plus his sales which arent in jr's league but still decent extra $$$ for him.
you goota love the 24, he looses but still wins when JJ wins

some rich guy should by vicks house and donate it to the ga humane society and have them turn it into a nice place for homeless dogs or convert it to a real nice hi end kennel complete with hot and cold running maids, pool, pond, and some loose cats & birds just for fun!!!

J2,
Forgot to tell you my friend in Homestead there was a exhibition outside Sat.
Well I destroyed your M Trower on the front tires. Yes I will say it for you I wasnt PC at all, when I killed him I made it it apoint to hand his "cheerleader" the airgun.
You know I play with airguns, Call it gratification, or non PC,"call it your ass handed to you"
Posted by: Kurt2 | Nov 25, 2007 3:29:51 PM
J2 ,
After wishing you a good holiday was that needed?
Alot of people are sick of the 24 and 48 show.
Jon,
You have a hell of a game next week, Mizzou looks damn good bud...
Deb, glad you and Gretch won for the sake of the Peach State.:)
Yes always have hated the damn Gators. From what I saw hell, the dman QB from Mizzou deserves the Hesiman. Gators= overrated BS
Best defensive player in college football by far is Chris Long

ampgreen,
What's there to be exposed in the offseason?
So the other guys want the limelight now that nobodies paying attention.
I'd thought they'd prefer to have it during the season.
Posted by: Jon2 | Nov 25, 2007 2:37:42 PM
Kurt2,
Thank God you are a Gator Hater tooooo! I hope Tebow doesn't get that award. Yes, you are safe to drive thru the Ga Peach, just watch out on 285 for all those freakin non english speaking fools that don't know where they are going.
Kurt2, Agg
Have yall ever seen Deon Sanders little spread. It's so freakin big they ride little carts, bikes or something inside. It's been a long time since I saw it. Hell, he has everything, but a McDonald's in there. Major price tag!! We will see what the judge does to Vick on 12-10. I saw this am about a commercial with Willie Nelson which is going to start playing around the time of Vick's sentencing.

TG and indy cars hiring Gene to be their pr guy has to be one the ???????? move an open wheel organization has ever done.....you talk about desperate people!!
Cart had it all in the mid 90's and just blew it all way, since the split iam sure you like many race fans can name or recall more of the starters from the 95 indy race than you can from the 07 race RIGHT??

Aggie, its the holidays, please place the crack pipe away till Jan.
Had to laughed when i heard the New Indy car promotion. KISS is performing 16 shows at the races next year. That should go over well..Dont get me wrong I am a KISS fan , but once Gene bought that car I have no clue what he is doing, with this stupid promo to get fans to the race.
Gretchen and Deb. Meant to let you 2 too know I HATE THE FREAKING GATORS < ALWAYS HAVE, TEBLOW NO HESIMAN
