Robby Gordon makes the move to Dodge
Robby Gordon signed an agreement with GEM and moves over to the Dodge stable, one year after moving to Ford. The agreement with GEM gives Gordon the technical support, manufacture support and marketing support for his team.
Robby Gordon said he made the move for more "stability" for his team, obviously something he didn't feel was there with Ford.
While I didn't understand why he moved from Chevy to Ford in the first place, I think this is a good move for him since he didn't have any affiliation with Roush, I don't think he was going to be able to get the help he needed for his team, especially where he needed it.
According to Gordon, it was strictly a business decision for the forward movement of his team, not a slam against Ford.
It'll be interesting to see how Gordon does, all his testing was done in a Ford, so GEM will have to help him out a bit with information from testing. Gordon's first foray in a Dodge, including GEM engines, will be when practice starts at Daytona next week.
Your thoughts?

"money cant buy you happiness or love…….. BUT man it can buy lots of sex lol just ask Charlie sheen!!
Aggie, am i thinking corrrectly on where the Smoke to RCR came from??????????????????????? Yesyesyes Sturgis Harleys Mathews Jr, iam sure u can put the you puzzle together
Posted by: Aggie | Feb 8, 2008 6:04:20 PM
Jeff - I'm not the one who compared football and baseball, YOU ARE!! Also, I don't remember anyone saying Robby is in the same league as Jeff in NASCAR. Can you tell me who said it please? All I remember is that a lot of us think Robby is a better all-around driver than your buddies.
Posted by: Diane | Feb 5, 2008 8:40:20 PM
Jeff,
Are you saying Ashley, Mark Martin and everyone else is also not a success, because they haven't won a championship?
It doesn't matter! These people are very talented and can drive a car. Robby can drive anything you put him in, anywhere, rain or shine. Can your 2 Hollywood Boys do that? Hell No, but you will never see talent unless they win a championship.
Posted by: Deb | Feb 5, 2008 8:39:01 PM
Ok I didin't really want to sling mud...BUT...If "Precious" IS so good in Cup why did he suck so bad in American Speed Association(I WAS there) and Busch?...Yes K2 if a Hummer is a "Dune Buggy"...What are Stadium trucks?...Big Wheels?
Posted by: Fan #5 | Feb 5, 2008 8:31:53 PM
Diane, just because it has a steering wheel doesn't mean it takes the same skills and talents. Just because football and baseball are both played with a ball doesn't make them the same either. I do admire Robby for his racing passion but saying he is in the same league as Jeff in NASCAR is ludricrous.
Posted by: Brother in Arms | Feb 5, 2008 8:31:11 PM
But how many championships does she have? Zero maybe. Damn this blog is getting smokey. Not sure if its another Robby smoke screen or a JJ victory burnout.
Posted by: jeff | Feb 5, 2008 8:03:04 PM
Jeff - How do you know Force can't drive a winged sprint car? Have you seen him try? Also, tell me how you can compare throwing a football to hitting a baseball?
Posted by: Diane | Feb 5, 2008 8:00:00 PM
Brother,
John Force could whip your 2 Hollywood Boys in a flash and even Ashley Force has more go-nads than your 2 Hollywood Boys put together. That says alot when a girl can rank in with Smoke and Robby.
Posted by: Deb | Feb 5, 2008 7:45:37 PM
Robby better get it in gear, he is 4 cups behind.
Posted by: Brother in Arms | Feb 5, 2008 7:42:56 PM
I don't remember mentioning Smoke in any of my above post.
Posted by: Brother in Arms | Feb 5, 2008 7:40:02 PM
Lady Di,
You went over to the dark side? Yes, the Pat's and Chad do have the same rule book.
How to cheat and get away with it. Thank God, the Pat's reaped what they sowed.
Posted by: Deb | Feb 5, 2008 7:38:40 PM
I bleed HMS.
Posted by: Brother in Arms | Feb 5, 2008 7:37:24 PM
So Diane, I guess John Force is not a great racer because he can't drive a winged sprint car.
Posted by: Brother in Arms | Feb 5, 2008 7:35:01 PM
Jon2,
Sorry, I forgot. Yes your Hollywood Boy kept his helmet on with Matt. You know why?
Cause he is a Hollywood Wussy and didn't want to get hurt or his nails messed up.
Posted by: Deb | Feb 5, 2008 7:25:18 PM
K2 - yes it was me over there on the other side :-)
Jeff/bia - NO WAY you can compare throwing a football to hitting a baseball. You can, however, compare driving one kind of race car to another. Sorry, your analogy doesn't work.
Posted by: Diane | Feb 5, 2008 7:24:26 PM
Boys, Boys,
Jeffy and Jimmy can't do squat or shit without there big daddy Rick. Get over it boys. Robby has bigger go-nads than both Hollywood boys put together. Smoke has more talent than the 2 Hollywood Boys. So I guess Smoke has no success either? My money is on Smoke and Robby long before your 2 Hollywood boys.

But according to you and your Brother J2, they suck at nothing, Perfect. Race of Champions were brought out, as your little broher said earlier :JJ and Jeff never step out of NASCAR>..
Ever thought that the reason is is they cant?
So J2, to your "hurling missles" you said JG was the master on it? If so, why is it not okay for RG to follow the lead...
Cant wait to see when it all goes "poof" one day, then you J2 can jump teams.. Cant say that about your brother, he seems as a HMS loyalist..
Posted by: Kurt2 | Feb 5, 2008 7:17:57 PM
Doesn't matter if they suck at other forms of racing. Just like it doesn't natter if Tom Brady or Joe Montana can't hit a 100mph fastball. Doesn't take away from their greatness in their primary sport which is? Yea, NASCAR.
Posted by: Brother in Arms | Feb 5, 2008 6:57:44 PM
Deb,
Give him some credit, at least Jeff kept his helmet on during the confrontation after being turned by Matt.
Matt handled it very well even when Jeff returned the favor in a later race.
K2,
Re: Multi-tasking
See Brother in Arms comments above. 'nuff said.
Re: Hurling Missles from the Driver's Compartment
Interesting, it appears Robby learned a lesson from the master.
Posted by: Jon2 | Feb 5, 2008 6:56:10 PM
JJ & JG don't have to create cautions, NASCAR does it for them. That's
when those mysterious yellows appear.
Posted by: Graceann | Feb 5, 2008 6:53:27 PM
Jeff/brother in arms:
here is a concept, try hitting Robbys website for "No Stats"
You and your brother neglect to see that when Jeff and "precious" stepped oput of NASCAR for the Race of Champions they were left holding there jock strap..
AS many consider NASCAR the best form of racing there is in the world. They did a horrible showing on those occasions..
Why arent owenrs beating his doors down? Well he isnt a robot and a puppett to be manipulated. he actaully has a mind and speaks it..I know thats not a concept for HMS, but try to understand its the way alot of people are..
Posted by: Kurt2 | Feb 5, 2008 6:40:44 PM
Great points J2. Remember when Michael Jordon tried to play baseball. He didn't exactly turn into the next Babe Ruth but it didn't take away from his greatness in basketball did it. All this BS about how great Robby is in other forms of racing is nothing more then a smoke screen. Why aren't other owners beating his door down to come drive for them? Why did he only last 5 races with MM Racing? Sports in general are based on what children? Statistics. And he ain't got em baby.
Posted by: Brother in Arms | Feb 5, 2008 6:16:18 PM
Jon2
What was that crap Jeffy did to Matt AFTER the race. Oh Yea, Jeffy pushed Matt. Your Hollywood Boy got his feelings hurt and went after Matt. Your Hollywood Boy gets his feelings hurt alot.
Posted by: Deb | Feb 5, 2008 5:36:50 PM
J2,
Disassembling? It takes less that 2 secs to get the cover off the roll cage..Didnt see a scewdriver needd..
Actually J2, there was a time 3 yeas ago when Jeffs waterbottle fell out the windown , of course accidentally for a caution, so I wouldnt go there.
I would like to know when a Hummer did in fact became a dune buggie?
Also, HMS knowledgeable one, Umm the past few years Jeff and Jimmie DID GO OUT OF THE CUP SERIES for the Race of Champions and on both occasions, they were left holding the steering wheel by other drivers...Point being , and embarrassment to the NASCAR racing series for not being better prepared or having a better showing.
Posted by: Kurt2 | Feb 5, 2008 4:56:49 PM
HMS drivers don't have to mess with the interior of their cars when the CCs "fix" stuff elsewhere. You crack me up J2.
Posted by: Barb g | Feb 5, 2008 4:33:34 PM
Deb,
I don't recall any HMS driver disassembling the interior of their car and during competition throw it out onto the race track in order to get a caution thrown like RG did last season.
Perhaps you have some insight on this "better person" characteristic for us?
Posted by: Jon2 | Feb 5, 2008 4:22:50 PM
Jon2
You are so full of POO!!!!! Jeff and Jimmy only kiss the Butt that does not stink. Look at what happened to the Patty Boys, who by the way cheated. They lost and the same thing will happen to your Hendrick boys. You will reap what you sow. Jeff and Jimmy couldn't do crap without their cheatin owner. Robby is a much better person than your cheatin boys. Robby is a racer and Jeff and Jimmy are Holly-Freakin-Wood and are Brians favorites!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Deb | Feb 5, 2008 3:54:20 PM
Jon2 - nice one!!! Maybe I won't puke.
Posted by: Diane | Feb 5, 2008 2:56:55 PM
Diane,
That was nice what you said about Bobby K. I recall while living in Indiana and more specifically in Southern Indiana, in the back country you'd sometimes see signs stating - No Hunting or Fishing, unless you're Bobby Knight. I kid you not. The guy's an icon.
And you have my word that I will not rag on Robby or bow down to HMS until the next time. You have my word.
Posted by: Jon2 | Feb 5, 2008 2:33:24 PM
Jon2 - one more post from you ragging on Robby or bowing down to HMS and I'm going to puke!!!!
Posted by: Diane | Feb 5, 2008 2:24:59 PM
Deb,
Not in NASCAR CUP. I believe Robby's first race in the CUP series was around 1991, ramped up with more races in 1996, been with several owners, went out on his own in the CUP series I believe on two maybe three occasions where he currently finds himself, and during all that time won three CUP races. IMO he hasn't been NASCAR CUP successful.
Do I look outside of NASCAR as to what he does in other race formats like driving dune buggies, not to hurt your feelings but I don't care. In fact, why was he even brought up as a topic of discussion? I guess when a driver/owner changes car reps it's big news.
With six championships as well 114 wins between the two of them, why would you think Jeff and Jimmy would want to consider/leave or do anything else in the way of other racing distractions outside the HMS juggernaut? They don't need the money. They don't need the recognition. They're champions at what they do. They got nothing to prove to anybody. In a nutshell: THEY'RE WINNERS!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Jon2 | Feb 5, 2008 2:17:02 PM
Bobby Knight's career in basketball is amazing. He's won 902 games (most by NCAA Div. 1 coach), been loved and hated by fans everywhere, but he molded boys into men. You won't hear but a couple of former players slam the guy. Even though he grew up in Ohio, we've adopted him as a Hoosier. I love the guy!!
Posted by: Diane | Feb 5, 2008 1:53:34 PM
Jon2,
Are you saying that anyone who doesn't ware a Hendrick's uniform is NOT a success? You are saying that Robby is not a success? Robby is one of the most talented guys on and off the track. Do you ever look outside of Nascar at what he does? I didn't think so. Jeff and Jimmy stay under Hendrick's wing. Kinda like little kids suckling on mom.

Gretchen,
Bobby said he just is too tired after 42 seasons. Doesn't appear to be anything controversial behind the decision.
His son Pat has been handed the job.
I believe Bobby got TT to the tournament four of the six years he was there. The folks of Lubbock love the guy.
Posted by: Jon2 | Feb 5, 2008 1:06:41 PM
I just saw that. Why'd he retire? I thought they were doing well.
Posted by: Gretchen | Feb 5, 2008 12:40:06 PM
J2,
I lost face? To who you? Yeah I lost sleep over that one..
Offtopic in the same breath: I agree with you On Bobby Knight,he will be missed
Posted by: Kurt2 | Feb 5, 2008 12:32:51 PM
K2,
Yes a recording device on your part to monitor Rick H's pronouncments would be recommended in light of the fact that you lost significant face a while back with respect to your alleged "Rick Order" that according to more credible/reliable sources than yourself, never occurred.
Junior never stated it was for the money; his primary requirement was to go with a proven winner. Junior chose wisely.
Off topic: One of the most successful div 1 coaches in the history of the sport (right up there with Dean Smith, John Wooden, and Adolph Rupp) retired from the sport and I'm speaking of the "General," coach Bobby Knight. He'll be missed.
Posted by: Jon2 | Feb 5, 2008 12:18:34 PM
J2,
is all you ever care about and makes you happy that JJ got a apartment UPTOWN....??
Least you got it right with the Rick Order, but honestly I find it odd that Jr will OBEY forever for the goodness of the team.. He is too much like his father to OBEY.
Financially Jr chose wisely,no arguement there with the HMS decision..but there is a old saying "money cant buy you happiness:.Going to be real real interestng. This year J2, i will make sure I have a recording device on hand during the races for you satisfaction .....
Aggie, am i thinking corrrectly on where the Smoke to RCR came from???????????????????????
Posted by: Kurt2 | Feb 5, 2008 12:00:30 PM
Gretchen,
Jimmie's just a little bit jealous at this point. He won his second championship in a row, won 10 races in one year, got himself an apartment in the Upper Westside of NYC, and now here comes Junior to steal all the 'tention, media and otherwise, away from him. He'll get over it.
I like Jeff's perspective on the whole thing, "Hey it's Junior."
If any issues come up during the season between HMS teammates'll be quickly resolved by Rick H. and the "Rick Order."
Once again, Junior could have picked any top tier CUP team (RCR, Gibbs, Penske, Roush) yet decided to cast his lot with the "dark side." Junior chose wisely.
Posted by: Jon2 | Feb 5, 2008 11:11:46 AM
AND I see Jenna Fruer's article on yahoo this am as well. Puffs is sounding not so happy about being the third wheel at his org.
Like I said K2 huh? DH and JJ would have issues with their new teammates. LOL. I LOVE IT!!!
Go Junior and Kyle!! ***k Hamlin and Johnson.
Posted by: Gretchen | Feb 5, 2008 9:59:36 AM
Oh hell I would just $hit all over myself if TS went to RCR. My life would be complete. I wore my Home Depot hat actually on my run yesterday. Oh god ya'll have me stoked about even the POSSIBILITY of TS going to RCR. Damn.
Saw an article on either ESPN or FOX yesterday wear Pemberton sort of slammed DEI about there continued dedication to Dale Senior. That sort of rocked my gut a bit. Pissed me off actually. Wish him well at MWI.
But I do hope JF can get TRB in contention. Brian V. I like and to see how he was shafted at HMS- especially after the Talladega debacle- rocked me as well. I still say Knaus was right with the " lack of talent" remark----right on that Puffs had a L.O.T. in holding onto his loose car after BV bumped him. PU$$Y who couldn't EVER hold Mark Martin's jock strap. "Better than Mark". What a joke..
Bud commercials were real good I thought. I DID NOT drink for the SB, so I remember ALL of the commercials- lol!!!
Posted by: Gretchen | Feb 5, 2008 9:56:43 AM
F5 - you know I'm a Stewart fan, but his Jekyll & Hyde personality is sometimes hard to take. As far as him being the next Dale Sr., that will never happen. I have to admit he probably doesn't have the respect in the garage area for him to have that position. And I doubt that he wants it.
Since DEI and RCR have such a close relationship now, do you think DEI would be happy if Tony went to RCR? Teresa surely didn't like Tony's comment about DEI becoming a museum if Jr. left.
At JGR Tony will be on the #1 Toyota team. He won't be on the #1 Chevy team if goes to RCR. Hopefully he will wait to make a decision until he finds out how good the Yota is.
EN - If Joe Gibbs can handle Tony, I think he would be able to handle Robby. Imagine what Robby could do with that equipment.
Maybe Tony's considering the change because he doesn't want to be the "old man" on a team of "young guns". Joey Logano will be there soon. :-)
No matter who he drives for he will still be my driver - warts and all.
Posted by: Diane | Feb 5, 2008 9:40:32 AM
FAN#5,
ROBBY GORDON in the #20? Ha!! That's a good one...as talented as ROBBY is,GIBBS will never hire him,he's not used to being told what to do...BUD commercials were good...its been a strange transition throwing out all my old JUNIOR hats an shirts...time to buy all the new AMP stuff I guess...jeez,that don't even sound right...
Posted by: earnhardt nation | Feb 4, 2008 10:48:29 PM
aggie what the hell are you doing at the MOA?
It's no secret that tony is NOT happy with JGR switch to Toyota...IMO this may be why Coach is coming back, I understand why Gibb's switch to Toyota...I'd rather be #1 than #4 in the pecking order(you guys figure out who 1-3 are) and Because Tony has financial ties with General Motors via his Dirt cars, Eldora, ect Like I said previously Jim Aust needs to give Tony some toys to play with and let the product speak for it's self...I think the media fueled the firres by calling Tony Stewart "The Next Dale Earnhardt"...now I'm gonna make nice, no sense in aggitating the masses even before the season begins.
Who knows Tony may go to RCR and it's 4th car...leaving the door open for Robby Gordon to slide into the #20...Oh C'mon I can wish can't I?
Posted by: Fan #5 | Feb 4, 2008 9:53:57 PM

makes no sense for him to bet at toyo with the rest of his chev deals teams track ect
ts will be with toyo just this year cuasse he has to or he'd be gone in 08 and the $$ was very good for 08 for him...... the guy wins all round
he can go into his r and d mode like he did after KC race in 07 with jgr

Yeah, Diane. 4 wins in consecutive years no less.
Bad deal with the man who died at Daytona. What a way to check out. R.I.P.
Interesting rumors re: Smoke. If true that actually wouldn't shock me. I wonder if he'll ever get his hair cut. lol

Yea I have heard the story about Mark. Glad he was able to turn his life around because alot of people are unable to do that. However though, I think JJ is a whole lot better then most people on here will ever admit. He may not be worth a squat driving for a lesser team with a different crew chief. But he takes what is given to him and uses it to his advantage. Not much different then other things in life. You still have to perform.
