Burton wins Bristol - RCR cars 1, 2, 3 finish
Jeff Burton pulled out the win when Hamlin had problems in a green-white-checkered finish, Harvick came in second and Bowyer finished third.
The RCR cars were definitely strong today, of course I don't think Stewart is too happy with Harvick right now after Harvick lost it in the turn and got into Stewart. I'm sure they'll work it out though, since they are friends off the track.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. again, was the top HMS car of the race, while Gordon and Johnson struggled again. I guess the dynasty is crumbling?
On to DW, why didn't they have someone else stand in for him? The man couldn't talk, they should have just let him rest his voice.
Oh, and how many more races does FOX have? I'm sorry, but I can't stand that "Let's go racing boys" song that they have as an intro to the race. I'll be happy when I won't have to hear that anymore!
Congrats to Jeff Burton on the win and RCR on the 1, 2, 3 finish!
Your thoughts?

I think some fans are blaming JUNIORS crew chief because of a couple mix-ups/controversial pit stop calls so far this year...I personally don't blame TONY EURY JR, I think he knows what he's doing and people just expected JUNIOR to dominate right out of the gate...especially after his 'non-points' race wins at the start of the year...these guys have run top 5 for most of the entirety of the 5 races...I've got no complaints....MATT KENSETH won a championship with only one win didn't he? Its not likely, but so can JUNIOR... {although I feel he can get 4 wins the rest of this year}...hopefully.

OK thanks Jon and ENATION..
It was difficult to ask (wording wise) as I didnt want anyone to think I was being a jerk, i wanted to know..
On Kyle B. I am not comparing him as he will not be SR to me ever, and thats not a Kyle shot. You meant on saving the car till the end of the race , such as a mark M, Jeff B??
On JR, you both anwsered it for me and I thank you. One more ? for you both is "why now are most blaming his CC for not winning thus far this year?". That was the other half of things we were talking about Sat.
F5, LMAO at the "tea in China comment"...
Enation-I knew you would have to fit Mikeys hair in there somewhere>>>>LOL
DJ and RAD,Yep your boys had a day yesterday..That was a snoozefest.. I see Davidson might be for real.....You 2 best not dicount Wash.St. this week...
I wasnt shocked or floored Duke lost. A friend of mine had Clemson in the Final Four? Told him he was a tad insane..:)
DUE TO THE MIDWEST and WEST, I let my dogs eat my bracket pick paper since evidently I sucked:).

EN,
Well said and I agree with your take on it.
Posted by: Jon | Mar 24, 2008 12:21:10 AM
Computer has been actin up..had to change a few things..
KURT2,
We JUNIOR fans blamed Teresa For alotta things last year, because as owner, she's ultimatley responsible for getting her drivers top notch equipment.
Last season,JUNIOR blew up 9 motors, that's an UNBELIEVABLE amount for a top team...it was strange how his teammate MARTIN TRUEX only blew up 1 motor last year...I believe HENDRICKS 4 cars had 2 blown motors in 144 combined starts in 2007...call us jealous, but it made us a bit angry to say the least.
An argument has been made that its only a coincidence that JUNIOR has done so well this year because working for HENDRICKS could make anyone a star...I say "B.S." Cuz just take a look at CASEY MEARS..not to mention JUNIOR had great success and huge wins in previous years with D.E.I. before the public arguments between JUNIOR and TERESA...
But hey,I'm long past conspiracy theories with DEI...as far as I'm concerned,DEI can watch JUNIORS back bumper for the rest of the year..TERESA has moved on,and I believe JUNIOR has too...so has MIKEY WALTRIP....WOO HOO!!
As for KYLE BUSCH,
My only problem with that talented young man is his pissin an' moaning so often whenever there's a camera around him..He's quick to complain about others getting in his way,yet he has done the same to others many times before.
Yes,DALE SENIOR used to do quite a bit of complaining as well, but he had won many races and many championships...KYLE has yet to accomplish winning a lot of either...so my point is,the reason a lot of fans get on KYLE's case when he complains, but didn't as much with DALE SENIOR is DALE SENIOR had our respect when he spoke because of what he had already done in the sport..we all respected SENIOR even if we were not a fan.
I like KYLE,he's super talented, hotheaded, and young with a lot of potential, but KYLE has a long way to go before he gets a "free pass" from the fans whenever he decides to vent about others..

Kurt2,
gimme a few mins on this one....I'll come up with a few words on JUNIOR an BUSCH...

Fan #5,
I will agree to disagree with you on Kyle Busch until I see him change from what I see as reckless abandon that he drives currently in all three series.
Posted by: Jon | Mar 23, 2008 10:00:27 PM
Well Jon we'll just agree to disagree...a few years ago when KyB debuted in Cup I called him a "Dart with no feathers"...In the past 2 years I've grown to admire him!
BTW K2 AMEN!...KyB doesn't need a perfect car to race...like some tenured drivers!...and I'm not touchin' the "Jr Incident" for all the tea in China
Posted by: Fan #5 | Mar 23, 2008 9:18:31 PM
DJ,
I can understand where you are coming from, but for me to consider him anywhere close to Dale Sr. he has to learn about the saving the equipment for the end of the race.
Posted by: Jon | Mar 23, 2008 9:13:53 PM
Jon..You have a valid point.I am one that has stated time and time again that the guy is the best wheelman on the track.I never said he was the smartest though. And definately, not the most patient.People still forget he is what only 24?Still a kid basically.I have also, like K2,stated that he has the mind set of Sr.His career turned out pretty good, didn't it?He will win races and championships. But untill he learns to save the car untill it counts late in the races,he may not do as well as the potential.I'm sure he'll figure it out and he is still a youngen.Give him time. The improvement is there each year.Under Joe Gibbs, that and other "maturity" issues will only get better.Nascar needs those loose cannons on the track,so rock on shrub.JMO...
Good for Wimmer!
K2,Rad...Them Heels look stout! How bout Davidson?Good to see.
Hopefully all have had a safe and relaxing weekend.........

Happy Easter!

Thanks Bandit, but unfortunately we are definitely in the minority here on Kathy's blog.
Posted by: Jon | Mar 23, 2008 8:34:24 PM
Jon
I agree with you about Kyle.I have yet to see the great driver that alot of people are talking about.Yesterdays incident showed me that Yes he does run fast but He only seems to run really good if he is in the lead.Alot of people say WHEN HE LEARNS HE WILL BE GREAT.But hell how long is that going to take....
Posted by: bandit | Mar 23, 2008 7:48:28 PM
Kurt2,
HAPPY EASTER to you and your wife.
Posted by: Jon | Mar 23, 2008 6:54:34 PM
Kurt2,
As you know Sr was often crucified by the fans of other drivers for his drving style and so why is it all of sudden that it is ok when Gordon would wreck people to win and now we have Kyle Busch driving extemely aggressive and that is ok and he is called great because of it. The only reason why Kyle Busch is in the points lead because he doesn't care how the car is handling he WILL NOT BACK OFF when the other more experienced drivers know they have to. That to me is reckless and irresponsible of Kyle Busch, all you have to do is watch the car when he comes out of a turn practically side ways because he went into the turn too fast and didn';t care if he spun and took out another car. That is not the sign of a great driver.
I know I might be in the minority, but until Kyle Busch starts acting more responsible than I will not give him any respect.
As far as your question about Jr and his fans wanting yo blame someone when he loses, well all you have to do is take a look at the points standing and see that away from DEI and Teresa he 5th in points and last season he lost 9 motors and so far no motor failures.
Posted by: Jon | Mar 23, 2008 6:52:42 PM
Jon/Kathy and family
Happy Easter .....
Jon, 2 questions:
1) I know and respect you arent a Kyle Busch fan.. I would not ever call it "reckless disregard", I can think and tell you names of those whom drove like there heads were up there ass and seemed to NOT care for other competitors on the track..
Dale Sr drove with a passion, so does Kyle.. Kyle will never be a SR but I see no differnece in the famous comment from SR" I would wreck my own mom to win a race"
Dont see a difference period, WE(all SR.fans) know he was not a "saint" on the track"??????
So what is the difference and why dislike Kyle for his driving style when many on here like older and current drivers whom drive the same?
2) Thought of this NOT because of you at all,but was on the Lake and had alot of different discussions happening yesterday, one that stuck out is this:
It appears why is it that 95% of Jr fans have to blame someone for him not winning a race, last year we know it was "Teresa", hell now from NASCAR folks I was with Eury Jr is getting slammed for it..
I cant fathom, nor think of any other driver that has consistently had someone else to blame(JR HAS NOT THIS YEAR, and this is not a shot at you at all.).
Nor am I saying you would, nor have this year done it, but I want to know from a fans perspective(you, ENation, Gretch, and all the Jr fans) why this can happen each time????
Trying to learn and I know the above sounds as an attack to you, but I swear on life it isnt. I am wanting to learn from what you guys think honestly..Heard some amazing crap yesterday on the boat about this..
Figured I would come to you guys to explain.
Posted by: Kurt2 | Mar 23, 2008 6:15:43 PM
Jon,
That's exactly why I'm not yet a full fledged fan and I'm hoping it doesn't take him too long to get control of that.
Posted by: Diane | Mar 23, 2008 1:17:01 PM
Diane,
I have no doubt he is talented, but I will never be a fan of his because he doesn't show the concern for the well being of his fellow competitors that most of the other drivers do. I see too much similarities between him and Johnny Sauter and I have zero respect for Johnny Sauter. You can say I am being harsh, but the way he doesn't back off when he should shows me that he doesn't care what happens to himself or the other drivers on the track if he loses control of the car.
Posted by: Jon | Mar 23, 2008 1:13:58 PM
Kyle Busch made another mistake. But watch out race fans, when he learns to control his over-aggression (not his aggression)he's gonna win a lot of races. I haven't been a fan of his, but it's so fun watching him race that I'm becoming a fan.
Great job by RCR. They are on their game right now.
Posted by: Diane | Mar 23, 2008 12:04:26 PM
RCR is showing that you have to race the whole race to win and not only lead all the laps. When it comes down to Homestead in the fall only the stat fans will care if Kyle Busch leads the most laps if someone else wins the championship.
Posted by: Jon | Mar 23, 2008 11:57:42 AM
Happy Easter to all and be safe..........
Congrats to the RCR crew as always just going about their business and winning...
the momentum in that shop must be at all time high right now!!
yeah that kyb media pendulum is starting to swing the other way....
we had friday off up so its a long weekend to us........
K2 wow Duke is out and so are my aggies down in texas.......what a tourney this year
this whole one and gone seasons these kids are having are ?? for the sport

Another RCR day:):):):):):)
Posted by: Kurt2 | Mar 23, 2008 12:30:35 AM
Did anyone catch the Nationwide race today? It looked like it was going to to a snoozefest until Baby Busch made my day by running out of talent (not quite his words, but he admitted he made a error) and gave away the win. I was happy for Wimmer and RCR for the finishing 1-2. The #88 and JR Motorsorts had a strong finish and moved up a couple of spots in the points.
Posted by: Jon | Mar 22, 2008 11:55:59 PM
K2,dang your your guys lived and died by the 3 this year.Still was hoping they would win for the ACC.My guys looked strong, but I wasn't happy with their D,especially the first half.Don't think Roy was either.
Feeling better today as it is a lovely 75 down here at the ROCK.Been at the church, yes I go....cooking butts and chicken for a benefit.I feel the local Mexican deck is calling my name!
K2,I feel you.My dad and I chatted about that last nite as a re-freshing look with alot of the teams.Crazy games yesterday.Looks like the race is a snoozer.Baby is away so DJ will play....

Kurt2,
Yep our Sooners won last night and hopefully they can follow it up with another win.

I am hating life right now.. DUKE choked..
Posted by: Kurt2 | Mar 22, 2008 4:27:13 PM
K2 - Right about Trickle. From what I read, he was almost embarrased by the amount of attention he's getting and had his daughter do the interview for him after his surgery. It was always a hoot to see him light up a cigarette during caution flags. He wasn't and isn't a superstar driver but he sure has a lot of fans.
Posted by: Diane | Mar 22, 2008 1:41:46 PM
Going to be nice today to see the Busch regulars race without 99.5 of the Cup boys
Posted by: Kurt2 | Mar 22, 2008 12:08:07 PM
F5, you caught that earlier.. Yeah TB was a cool lady and a awesome one..
Went into the FIRST part of the reflecting pool..Hit me as it did with Sherman F, miss the hell out of him..
I know Di is the "invetigative one" get the link Di for Trickle.... He was and is massively touched by those whom were concerned for his well being at this time.. Man had a hard life, but a DAMN GOOD GUY, stand up guy and took no crap...
DJ, I picked all the damn upsets yesterday, so i am screwed thus far.. Lost 2 OT games today(UCONN was one) then American winning. BUT hell those games were great..'
Please all fogive me and NOT A RACIST, but good to see a white guy nail a 40 some footer with barley time time and win..
DJ and RAD,hell almost snoozed during UNC, ewww that was nasty, you sure you played a college team?????LMAO. In my pool I got you playing Tenn and losing, sorry.BUT got Duke losing to WV tommorrow..Realistic I guess
Saw Jon and Kathys OK boys won, thank god as I picked them..
Sorry the blog has turned to this but till Tues we dont give a crap about racing.. HOILDAY>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>:):):):):)
Stricklin, I knew you would pick up on the Busch Swap, never going to be anything to me but Busch:)..You are right my friend , its BS, but it wont change this year...But glad Jack told Jamie , "make it or go home"..
You dont have to read into that alot ladies and gents to see the writing on the wall with the 26..
DJ< feel better , all you damn UNC folks are out of commision.. RAD get home..
Posted by: Kurt2 | Mar 22, 2008 11:17:05 AM
Wow, UNC sure looked good yesterday. They will be tough for any team to beat. My Hoosiers don't look like the same team who started the season - I think they were 19 and 1 incl exhibition games, but were 8 and 7 after that. E. Gordon averaged 22 points a game during the season but couldn't hit anything in the Big 10 tourney or their one and only game in the NCAA. I'll have to wait for next year.

Stricklinfan82,
Damn good post....you usually make a good point with the subjects that you bring up,and your last post is no exception...
I think we all agree that by now NASCAR has become so money hungry that its sad at times, and your thoughts further prove that point..I love NASCAR,I truly do,but its gotten to the point where the sponsors are more important than the drivers...and more important than the fans...and that's a shame..
There's still plenty of positive things about NASCAR,I just hate being from a small town near the MASON DIXON line, and seeing this sport moving closer and closer to the "big city"...
Damn I wish DALE SENIOR was still with us,I think things would be so much different if he was still alive to voice his opinion..

Hey, I was looking at the Nationwide entry list and qualiyfing order from Nashville and guess what folks.... we have another point swap! Thanks goodness, it's been WAY too long since someone has bought someone else's points to gain a qualifying exemption into a NASCAR race (tongue firmly in cheek by the way).
Kenny Wallace left the Fitz Racing #36 Dodge to move to Jay Robinson's #28 Chevy... and the owner's points got swapped on those two cars to give Jay Robinson the #36's qualifying exemption that his own race team didn't earn with Kirk Shelmerdine and Brian Keselowski driving that car in the first 5 races of the season. This is not right! Jay Robinson is now listed as the owner of the #36 DODGE and Armando Fitz is the owner of the #28 CHEVY... what a complete joke. We all know darn well they didn't sell each other one piece of equipment, Jay Robinson just did another point purchase like he did for his #4 team for Robert Richardson at the start of the year.
NASCAR really needs to step in and stop this crap. If the #36 team can't run the rest of the races then their qualifying exemption should go to the 31st place team in owner's points among teams that have attempted the full schedule, NOT to the team that offered the most money for their points!
I know this won't get much publicity or attention since it's in the Nationwide Series but I just wanted to bring up yet another blatant BS example of points buying in NASCAR for those of you that wouldn't have otherwise noticed.
I do give the #45 and #26 Cup teams all the credit in the world for manning up and not swapping points or buying points to gain a qualifying exemption at Martinsville. I'm proud that they are manning up, taking their medicine, and trying to earn their way back into the top 35. I am now rooting for these guys the rest of the year after seeing them approach this "the right way" when there were much easier ways out. I do however reserve the right to take back this newfound respect if a point swap does occur at some point or if a past champion like Elliott, T. Labonte, or Jarrett ends up in one of those cars at some point this season.

Hurting a little right now. Screwed up and moved a little too fast earlier. :-( Oh, well, glad they gave me some good drugs! I am going to need them here in a minute. Will try to check up on here but always have my email rolling so if you need something or whatever just use my email here (not my work one).

Rad, you going to be home by Easter??>>>>
Posted by: Kurt2 | Mar 21, 2008 3:54:32 PM
Radster,
I hope your recovery is fast and easy. I have a 6 inch scar on my back from surgery a few years ago. Thank goodness they have an easier way of taking care of back problems now. Good luck.
Posted by: Diane | Mar 21, 2008 1:01:15 PM
Rad,
Glad your doing ok.
Posted by: Kurt2 | Mar 21, 2008 12:05:43 PM
Di, that score was ugly..Hell Miss V. State scored 10 points in the whole 2nd half..
Your Hoosiers are going to have there hands full today..Should be one of the better games today.. Oh the Devils were lucky. Damn sure the only player whom showed up for Duke was Henderson.
DJ and RAD, Zubek (55) is really bad .. OMG he is a clutz...Coach K is sick as a dog and couldnt barely get off the bench to the last 2 minutes.. I am sure your Heels willbe okay today. I have them in my win column on my pool
Posted by: Kurt2 | Mar 21, 2008 12:00:41 PM
hey folks,
I am tryin to catch up on all the scores now. I was in surgery yesterday and missed the first round. Isn't that something, have to go to a NASCAR blog to figure out what's happening in NCAA b-ball hahaha. Anyway things went well with the surgery. Pretty loopy still but I guess pain meds will do that.
K2, Thank God Duke won. We need all the ACC teams that we can to stay in since we got ripped off in slots!
DJ, let's hope the Heels' game isn't that close!!
Well folks, not felling to great right this sec so I better run.
K2, enjoy your weekend off and will talk to you all later.
See Yaaaaa....

en
jr had it nto been for cali race would be 2-3 rd in points i think.....those 2 are their best RCR act staying nice and low and going about their business amongst all the hype around them.......Jr team just needs to pull off more stops like rcr's teams do and have their type of communication and strategy
EN to be honest this kyb and jr deal is like a pendulum with the media and now its swung over to kyb, then it will swing back to Jr once he gets to his tracks, jr is looking good and if he can peak at dega or geta win before then LOOK out oh yah another thing Jr has to learn from the 29 how to win some big race$$$$$$
