Crew Chief Switching Game - This Time it's Ganassi
After his public displeasure at the way his teams are doing, Chip Ganassi decided it's time to play the crew chief switching game, Montoya and Sorenson will be switching crew chiefs. Ganassi thinks it's a great idea...
I really feel that these changes can be instrumental in moving Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates to the next level. I have a lot of respect for both Donnie and Jimmy and the jobs that they do and they both agree that this move can be very beneficial to the entire organization. I have said all along that I believe us to be a championship organization and that Felix and I will do whatever we can to make us better. This is toward that end.
Honestly, I don't see how this will help anything. We've seen crew chief switches in the past in other teams not really work, yes some have worked, but most don't seem to work out too well and ends up with either the driver or one of the crew chiefs getting fired. Even if it does work, it won't have the instant results Ganassi wants, look at Edwards as an example, he struggled when his crew chief was switched, he's back up there now, but it wasn't instant.
Another problem I see is that these crew chiefs are the only ones that these drivers have had during their Cup career. Granted I'm not a Montoya fan, but I do like Sorenson and think he has potential, unfortunately not with Ganassi, I foresee him being "replaced" by another open-wheel driver and if that happens, I hope he gets a decent ride in good equipment.
Equipment is where I think Ganassi is lacking, I don't think he's ever had all of his cars doing well at the same time. I think he focuses too much on one team/car instead of the whole team/organization. Back when Marlin drove for him, it was all about the #40 car, now it's all about Montoya, how does he expect for all his teams to do well when he focuses on just one? Drivers can not do well if they don't have the equipment to do it in, hence Sorensons problem, that and he keeps getting caught up in wrecks. And while I'm not a fan of the open-wheelers, I think Ganassi is expecting way too much of Franchitti in his first year.

Okay Carlos I am off this weekend and wathcing the race 2 questions for you , since this race is so "needed:
1) WTF do my boys have to come to a Raod Course in Mexico and race when there are no SAFE BARRIERS???????
2)Why cant the track power stay on? Hell it went off.
Give a comprable facility to me and I might be okay with it..

Carlos: If you read the posts above and understood what any of the people were trying to say you would not have written what you did. We have stated over and over on here that we are not racist, there are some on here that imply we are. Those are the ones you need to direct your remarks to. If you have followed this blog at all you would know that most on here have all types of people in their families and friends (meaning different races) if you take offense to the things posted on here then don't read it. I have not written anything on here that I would share with any one of my friends, and yes I have different races mixed in my family and friends as well. We accept each other as one race not different. If you cannot then you are the one with the problem and have the attitude. As far as the drug problem in the states I have no control over that or the killing that goes on in the schools, you should have never gone there my friend. That is for another time. Now back to JPM, I don't think any one on here said he did not belong in NASCAR because he was not American. I think they stated they did not like him because he was an arrogant asshole, he thought when he was on the track that every one should get out of his way and let him by. Well it didn't work and they put him in his place. Whether he has learned from that or not is to be seen. His personality off track may be completely different but on track and radio he is and ass. If you feel you can argue with that have at it I am waiting.

Chip Ganassi is a an a-hole. I've said before that I wish his guys would tell him to go F-hisself and walk away. You don't treat people the way he does and expect to be on top. What goes around comes around. The spew of anger he had for his teams showed us all just what a major D-Head he is to.
The only good Chip right now would be chipper Jones and all his hits and homeruns. Chipper can still get-r-done in his old age. That is a good Chip!!!!!!

Gee guys. I go on vacation for a week and all hell breaks out on here. LOL. There are lessons on racism, geography, English, the Cartel and even GOATS.
Good posts by most everyone. Like most of you, I'm not the least bit racist. I'm actually socially liberal and believe in equality for everyone. I kinda like JPM's personality off the track. But he's a danger to others on the track and pit road. Hopefully he'll improve with that and be an asset to NASCAR. If he doesn't, another driver will take care of him.
Gretch - I have some Jewish friends who will love your joke. FS and some others on here need to lighten up. I don't think anyone of us intends to insult others and everyone has a right to their opinion.

yeahh JPM is shit...he should not be there...he cant run in nascar...look how bad he looks compared to his teammates...the veteran RS wrecking every weekend and 31st in standings, dario with a lot more experience in ovals than montoya when he came in...38th in the standings...and montoya?...well he is only in a crapy 17th in the standings...with seven consecutives top 20s and being the best driver of the team...real bad...in that excellent 42 team a really good driver (unlike montoya) would be leading the cup with at least 4 wins and 8 tops 5...chip...get rid of JPM...he has no talent...im sure you will make the chase and win the cup with any other driver...you are wasting one of the better cars of the grid (if not the best) with JPM....
JPM can be an ass...I wont deny it...you can dislike the guy because of that...I´ll give you all that...but he has improved a lot since he came here last year...this yeat he has run very well and almost hasnt had problems...the wreck with bowyer in daytona...he has raced hard when he is one lap down and figthing for the lucky dog with other drivers...but everyone in that position does the same thing...Jeff gordon did exactly the same thing to him last year when JPM was figthing for the lead in atlanta and Jeff was a lap down...and in other races drivers than are running 1, 2 or 3 laps down to montoya race equally hard to him too...can anyone tell me what is the diferrence in this cases?...honestly i dont see any...ahh wait...the difference is that montoya is an ass...so he cant do what mostly of the drivers do on the track because he is an ass...now im understanding....
You say he is overrated...I dont think so...look the team where he is running...a team with only 6 wins since chip bought it...a team that hadnt won a race since 2002 before JPM came in...what do you expect? Montoya to be champion in that car?...yeah right...take away his victory (because it was on a roadie and it doesnt count, does it?...i thought that races were part of the championship...maybe im wrong) the best result for a ganassi car in 2007?....the second place at indy by Montoya...
He is in a 2nd (if not 3rd) tier team and he is getting some decent results, he has been in the top 13-20 in the last 7 races has improved from 32nd to 17th in the points...i think he is getting better every race and if the team improves the car he can have a chance to be in the chase...he has the skills to do it...I dont have any doubt... and he can be an ass...I dont have any doubt about that either...but well im watching racing...i am not watching miss congeniality... and the guy looking only the racing side its a very good driver...

Yvonne, you are absolutely right. I don't know the man personally. But he does do some things on the track that "ain't that kosher", in my book anyway (which means absolutely nothing to anyone else) but it is my OPINION. From the shows I have seen with him he seems like a personable enough guy, just needs to tame it down on the track and it would make him a much better racer and much more successful IMO.

First of all... none of you even KNOW Juan Pablo Montoya... SO... until you actually "know" the man, don't knock him! He is actually a very good man with a little spit-fire in him.. which I like! NEED MORE OF 'EM! Oh, and Sorenson couldn't drive a remote control car! Heard for several years... that Sorenson was "the man"... well NO wins yet to his credit! Juan Pablo does have a win!!!! Sure JPM has an attitude at times. Not unlike a lot of pumped up drivers. Tony get's his on occasion, KyleB get's his, Jeff G get's his, according to many JJ always has his, and on and on. Sure he's run into other drivers. More last year than this. But give the guy credit, he races and you never get the impression he's just in it for the ride even though he's employed by a bottom tier team. The guy's giving a lot of effort.
Kathy, don't feel I'm holier than thou by any means and if I come across like that, shame on me. Just got problems with digs at other ethnic groups and religions like the Judaic tradition.

Why do I not like Montoya? Because anytime he gets near one of the guys I root for on the track, I fear he will either a) do something boneheaded that takes my guy out, or b) lose it and take my guy out. I don't have this fear with too many of the guys on the track but most definitely do with Montoya. I'll give him credit for improving on the ovals since he started in Cup but his boneheadedness hasn't dissipated one bit.

It MAY be because he's an arrogant a$$wipe. Too many drivers in the garage carry that same opinion of him, for it to be unfounded.
It may also be because so much attention is paid to him simply BECAUSE he's a Hispanic driver, not BECAUSE he is a succesful driver. This- as with Puffs- is NOT entirely JPM's fault. Much with anything anymore, it's more the media's fault that there is a JPM/ JJ / HMS overload in the papers, on the TV, and on the web. However that doesn't cure the bitter feelings.
