Johnson wins the so-called Indy race
Jimmie Johnson held off Carl Edwards in the final laps of the race, or what NASCAR wants to call a race.
The big story was the tires, as they had been all weekend for the Cup series and instead of figuring out something to do about it, NASCAR had the wonderful idea of calling competition cautions about every 11 laps or so. It was ridiculous, they knew how horrible these tires were and they even brought in a truckload of tires intended for next weeks Pocono race to use if the teams needed them, but the teams still had to use up all the Indy tires first.
The tires were horrible, they knew they were going to be horrible and yet they still went on. They probably would have been better off using the Pocono tires and we probably would have had a better race than we did today.
Then, if that wasn't enough, the announcers had to add to it, talking all about how the top cars were either Gibbs, Roush or Hendrick. What a joke! Jeff Burton ran in the top ten for practically the whole race and they hardly mentioned him, unless someone was passing him. Allmendinger ran up front, but they hardly mentioned him either, I just wish these announcers would actually just call a race instead of throwing their preferences into it. Burton did good, but if you listened to the commentators, he was a non-factor and not even up there.
And because of all these tire problems, it shook up the points and it's sad to say that most drivers that dropped positions didn't deserve it, but were just a result of these horrible tires.
And now we get to go to another boring race at Pocono next week, but after this so-called race, that one will probably look exciting compared to this one and that's hard to do since it's usually just a follow the leader race.
Your thoughts?

Kurt2, as you never provide a single credible deficiency to Pocono your opinion of the place is a baldfaced lie. So change your opinion or shut your trap.
Posted by: Mike Daly | Aug 4, 2008 7:05:43 PM
DJ, will you get over Darlington, Rockingham, and North Wilkesboro? Two of them are dead and none of them were even close to Pocono as racetracks - Pocono is superior to all three of them and a lot of other tracks still on the tour.
Posted by: Mike Daly | Aug 4, 2008 7:02:19 PM
imbecile on 14 street - the leaders of the 911 killers were from Baluchistan and were recruited by Iraq. Iraq armed and trained them for years. Get the facts straight before you spout off again.

So we have no reason for being there. What are we to do after 9/11 , send a statue?? and thank them...
K2
hey maybe we could attcck the people who attacked us in the first place.
and
not go off into a country that had NOTHING to do with 911
is that asking too much out of you unusually bright republicans ???
where were the killers that did 911 from...
iraq
hell no
iran
hell no
saudi
hell yes
but that country is butt buddies with dumbass bush.

Dottie - You are right. I want him to concentrate on the 20 car and get a win. I think this has affected Zippy too.
Maybe Barb G will be at the track to cheer him to victory. I like to dream, can you tell? LOL.
Posted by: Diane | Aug 2, 2008 8:54:18 PM
Diane
Maybe, if we cheer loud enough, we can get
him in the winners circle. I really think
Tony has had so much on his mind this year
leaving JGR, team owner and still looking
for a driver for the #4 car. I'm sure all of
this has been a distraction for him. I think
considering all of this he hasn't done that
bad. We just want a win! RIGHT
Posted by: Dottie | Aug 2, 2008 8:21:36 PM
Jon & Dottie - I enjoyed the primaries. They were kinda entertaining. But there's just too much negative campaigning now. I need to stop watching the cable news networks.
Dottie - We're going to have to cheer extra hard for Tony this week. He's starting mid-pack and really needs a win.

I wish the election was over and done with
also but we have approximately three months
to go and with the discussions/debates, it's
going to get worse as time goes by. This is
all we're going to hear on TV and from the
news media.
Posted by: Dottie | Aug 2, 2008 6:43:47 PM
Diane,
Me too, the primary's started way too early and now we have several months to go until November.

Jon - Just got home and turned on the TV. This race in the rain is a trip. Reminds of Slip Slidin Away. :)
K2 - What's wrong with these guys like KyB, Stewart and Burton? Practiced in the back and none of them qualified good.
I wish the election was over!!!
Aggie - Are you staying out of trouble on your trip? Hope you're having a good time. Be safe!!

Diane,
See I am glad someone saw the shithole Pocono is.. Thank you..
I am sure Daly will be here soon proclaiming his love for Dr Joe and the great place he has.. This place inside and out is like the tire shit with Goodyear last week... Least Goodyear fixes there issue.. Dr . Joe only cashes the check

but losing over 4000 of our soldiers is to big price to pay
so imo the war was wrong

So we can have the Twin Towers dropped, Pentagon hit and a plane downed and kill countless Americans WHOM ARE INNOCENT , these IDIOTS TALIBAN, dont give a crap..
I am not thrilled with Loss of life in this war. But take a read of the above mentioned book I pointed out to Kari.. They die because ROE (Rules of Engagment).. They have to be attacked to fire. Meanwhile Alla Babba can walk and cut there throat..These are posed Rules per the politicans sitting in a office with AC..
I cant state this for a fact but I think Kari can venture into this deeper than me..
So we have no reason for being there. What are we to do after 9/11 , send a statue?? and thank them...
Obama wants to meet with Hezzbolah and Hamas.. Thats thrilling to me. Hell Carter already did.. Need one say more?
So we lost 4000, how many sick asses in the sand were lost?
Posted by: Kurt2 | Aug 2, 2008 4:57:45 PM
Gail,
We lose soldiers in war, that is part of war. But the result was a positive and when it is over Iraq will be a free nation, something that not many Iraqi's could have dreamed of before we went in. I respect your opinion and I would hope you respect my different opinion. :)

Gail,
One last thing, it is your opinion that it was wrong to go into Iraq, I happen to believe that it was the right thing to do. Saddam supported terrorist in include Al-qaida and others and he needed to go and we did that and the Iraqi's put him to death.
Posted by: Jon | Aug 2, 2008 4:03:21 PM
Gail,
The majority of Democrats voted for the war, so that is a moot point. But yes, I know all politicians lie including Republicans.
Posted by: Jon | Aug 2, 2008 3:59:08 PM
Jon,
when you say all politicians i hope youre including the republics
they lie as much as the democrats
like why we should go to war in iraq

K2 - I understand a little better why you feel the way you do about Pocono after seeing that the garages have no real doors to protect cars and equipment from the rain. It looked really cheap to see blue plastic or vinyl covering the garage doors. Mattioli should have used the money he spent making the grandstand look like Churchill Downs on real garage doors.

Gail,
I have been alive long enough to know that all politicians say what they think people want to hear.

y'all need to work in p.r.
you can invent big drama outta the blue
and then claim it's some bigg deal that's very important to all
and then rant about it again out of the clear blue.
maybe you can get some time on springer and after you mature come on back to reality.

I have to state Obama and me do not jive..
You fly on a rockstar tour, tell leaders "see you in Jan."..
I am like Jon posted earlier.. I dont owe a damn thing for slavery and sick of that card being played.. Obama plays the card but the all of a sudden "retracts" his mouth.. Since his handlers (Rev. J Wright, Sharpton) give him advice.. Hell Jesse Jackson hastes him..
I hope his "confidence" continues since according to most polls a 1 point lead is there for him..
Sorry to piss anyone off but I will take Mccain..
Kari, reading a book now "Lone Survior" damn good book about SEAL Team 10... THen I am heading into Michael Durant..
Balls will be out for POCO HELL later..

I love polietics.
Kinda goes right along with NASCAR racing and all the behind the scenes things going on with all the jostling, deal making, water fountain gossip and such.
So they both kinda have a lot in common, campaigns and racing.
I'll tell you one normally very Democrat prone voting block that is very troubled by this cat Obama, and it's the Jewish community. Obama'll get the Black vote, probably 95+% because he's Black (well partially) and is a Democrat and the Blacks'll vote for anything under the Dem label, plus he'll probably get a slim majority of women, though the 40+ age group of women voters are leaning strongly toward McCain. As White men see it, this cat is trouble and dudes like me and a host of millions of other men know it.
Let's see to be President all you gotta do in life is become a community organizer for ACORN (basically a Democrat party voter recruiter), work at a law firm and do primarily pro bono work, get elected as a State rep and vote 'present' 150+ times on legislation that effects your constits, get elected to the US Senate and basically become a potted plant never reaching across the aisle to work with the other party (yeah, he's going to bring change to Washington), and always speak in platitudes and a bunch of rhetoric. Accomplish this, and there are idiots out there whose standards are so low who'll vote for you.
As someone said, that's all this suit is, all style and no substance.

Obama says he opposes slavery reparations, apology
Aug 2, 8:47 AM (ET)
By CHRISTOPHER WILLS
(AP) Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. speaks, Friday, Aug. 1, 2008.
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama opposes offering reparations to the descendants of slaves, putting him at odds with some black groups and leaders.
The man with a serious chance to become the nation's first black president argues that government should instead combat the legacy of slavery by improving schools, health care and the economy for all.
"I have said in the past - and I'll repeat again - that the best reparations we can provide are good schools in the inner city and jobs for people who are unemployed," the Illinois Democrat said recently.

Daily Kos is just as credible a source for facts as World Net Daily, Jon. I prefer sources that cite actual complete statements as proof of positions taken rather than cherry-picked segments or pure speculation by the writer.

Exile on how I ruined my credit,
I fully understand your need to support Obama and his ilk.
I can sympathize with those who feel a need to have government address their inadequacies and inabilities to take responsibility for their lives and actions by always being there for them. I fully understand your need to associate with the party that taxes the other partie's constituency in order to subsidize the lifestyle of their generally less than motivated constituents.
After all, it truly does take a village.

so i don't need jackshit from you.
i've noticed anytime you spout your rush bullshit and somebody answers, y'all go off on some stupid crap about how you "know" where those liberals are coming from and how you "understand" etc.
i'm guessin' you are another dumbass republican who hasn't figured out yet you are supporting a party who couln't care less about you. your party is for no taxes for the rich.
when you become rich get back to me.
otherwise, go back to your lower middle class existence with your know it all attitude, and your boasting about "your" party of rich people.

Nice try with the World Net Daily link, like that's a credible source. Right wing conservative blogs and sources aren't exactly without bias and they're the only ones that are advancing this theme. When you have nothing to offer all you can do is lie.

I agree with you 100%, those are the people that support Obama and any other Democrat politician. For some reason they believe we all want the governemnt to provide everything as long as the rich are paying for it.

"It isn't Swift-boating -- yet -- but it regurgitates the same themes used by Rove in both the midterm campaigns of 2002 and the presidential race of 2004.
Whether Schmidt or Rove executes those same old appeals to the worst in us hardly matters.
What matters is that McCain has adopted an approach that was once thought beneath him.
And that choice dates back to his decision to ally himself with George W. Bush and indeed with Rove, despite the vicious tactics that defeated him in the Republican primaries of 2000 -- for which he held them responsible.
The slurs aimed at McCain during the South Carolina and New York primaries were appalling -- even in an era of scoundrel politics -- and nobody doubted that they should be attributed, at least indirectly, to Rove.
The whispering campaign included anonymous leaflets and phone calls about the former drug dependency of Cindy McCain and the alleged illegitimacy of the McCain's adopted Bangladeshi daughter, Bridget.
Then an independent committee tied closely to Rove and Bush mounted a TV campaign in New York accusing McCain of cutting breast cancer research funding, even though his sister was a survivor of the disease.
It must have been hard for Cindy and Bridget McCain to watch the maverick reformer throw his arms awkwardly around President Bush during the 2004 convention.
It must have been hard for McCain to make the TV ad featuring that embrace, with a script approved by Rove.
It must have been even harder for him to watch the Swift-boating of his old friend John Kerry, a fellow Navy veteran whose volunteer service he respected, even though they disagreed vehemently about the Vietnam War and many other issues.
By the time McCain spoke up feebly against the Swift boat campaign, the damage had been done -- to him as well as to Kerry.
He had undergone a public transformation into a willing instrument of lesser men who trampled on his character and his honor, even his patriotism, just as his campaign is now seeking to do to Obama.
"They know no depths," he had complained wearily to reporters on his "Straight Talk" bus during the 2000 primaries.
Now he has once more sold himself to those same forces, hoping that they will at last usher him into the White House.
In his concession speech after the South Carolina primary, he said, "I want the presidency in the best way, not the worst way."
That is what has changed."
and you, jon2 (nobama), are another lesser man.
