The Chase is set...Bowyer gets the last spot
Ragan and Bowyer were really battling for that last Chase spot and it all came down to the end. Both did a good job, but Bowyer got the last spot, where he was when the race started.
I guess the most interesting thing about the Chase this year, is there are five drivers who have not won yet this season. Not that they didn't try, but with Kyle Busch and Edwards winning all those races they won, it made it more difficult for others to win.
The drivers in The Chase are...Kyle Busch, Edwards, Earnhardt Jr., Johnson, Stewart, Kenseth, Biffle, Hamlin, Gordon, Harvick, Burton and Bowyer.
Also, since it will be talked about, the Busch and Jr. incident. Some think it's payback for the last Richmond race and others think it was a racing incident. From my opinion, and this is only my opinion, it looked like Jr. may have locked up the brakes or tires, there was a bit of tire smoke before the two made contact. I'm sure some will see it differently, but that's my thoughts on it.
Your thoughts?

E Nation - I'm so sorry to hear about your girlfriend. She will be in my prayers. I was going to talk about the race, but it seems so unimportant after reading your message.

I'm going to beat everyone to the punch to say that karma is hell. Tony complained about the pit stop last week. Now this week, he's already made 2 bad mistakes himself. He had a car to win and blew it.
aggie - Who do you think are teacher's pets? The ones who have bad cars or the ones who have good cars?
aggie says: "vikes are kicking your colts ass lol wow this game full of bumblers lol"
Who are the bumblers Aggie? The Colts BEAT the Vikes 18 to 15. Never count out Peyton Manning. LOL.
exile - There were some pretty good punches thrown in that fight yesterday. Some guys came out with blood on their shirts.
Sorry everyone. I seem to be in a bad mood today. :)

jj won the usac triple crown.
in nascar, fast driver in shit equipment.
kool...
little ky busch spins out and is 8 laps down.
of course it's just a "muligen" for them.
which is another dumb ass term invented by the main stream nascar media to make make stuff look exciting.
kinda like...
kyle wouldda won today but he's running an expermental engine and chassis set-up.
or
now that they missed the chase they will be able to go all out unlike the chasers.
hey, the chasers made the chase because they were fast all year long.
the idea that somehow the the mid pack teams will suddenly find speed and/or handling is dumb as hell.
jmo.
another huge bank goes tits up under the current administration.

great truck race.
love the fighting after the race.
what da hell is a race without grown men running around bitch slappin each other cause there wasn't any fist to the noggin action going on.
the big black nascar guy grabbin the team guy and shoving him out of the way as he said in a semi-whinney voice... "get your hands off me" was priceless.

Diane, That's why I asked the question about JJ Yeley. I remembered the race when he dove the #20 car. He ran good and kept the car in front until the wreck. It does prove the point about the equipment. I really don't think Tony & Ryan will have a problem next season, with Chevy wanting Tony back and money flow along with Tony's mouth you can bet they will have good cars or heads will roll. LOL At least I hope so.
Posted by: Graceann | Sep 14, 2008 1:54:45 PM
Aggie,
I don't often disagree with you but I do now. :) Not all cars are equal. Ask the drivers or crew members.
You can put a driver that's usually 35th in points in a car that's top 5 in points and they most likely will finish better than 20th.
You can put a top 5 driver in a car that's usually 35th in points and they most likely will finish lower than 20th. Just my opinion.
Remember in early July when Tony was sick and Yeley subbed for him? He worked that 20 car back towards the front and ran there most of the race. He was caught up in a wreck that was not his fault and finished 20th.
I don't think J.J. is a bumbler. I think any driver who has made it to Cup and driven there for a couple of years has talent. Otherwise they wouldn't have made it that far.
Aggie, the 48 scares the heck out of me too. LOL.

f5
are you celebrating today?? and sipping a few red b's???
unreal drive by that kid in F1 with the red bull team
talk about a david vs goliath
i hope its a sign of things to come from red bull teams evry where
68ss
But you could stick him in that 48 car and he would still bring up the rear.
no kidding some guys just arent fast and you know these bumblers just find a wreck kinda like es all season long and jjyoyo at eldora.....park the car after 2-3 caution
i know iam not in the garage but this, "he dont get the best stuff" kinda makes me sour on car racing some days and when i hear about it , it just sucks :(
be like trainers giving guys bad cleats
f5 nah jr has had so many brain farts that you'd just like to seem him have a nice clean race and one clean and no bs afterwards
to be honest the 48 scares the heck out me to win it all and the 29-31 as the sleepers BUTBUT kyb does have the bullet proof motor, the 99 u know is not going to back down, ck and jj still best 1-2 combo out there PERIOD!!
iam excited as there are so many sub plots in this chase and in 3-4 races we'll have the real pretenders and contenders list out
Posted by: aggie | Sep 14, 2008 11:14:24 AM
How soon we forget the JGR 11 car. Was going nowhere with Leffler. Plug in DH and we have a Championship contender. Same with the 18. The equipment was always there, they just needed a driver. I like JJ Yeley myself. Great personality. But you could stick him in that 48 car and he would still bring up the rear.

F5 - I can't and won't defend Tony for his actions. I don't like what he said either. But other drivers get frustrated during the races and say things they shouldn't just like Tony did. Too bad the media doesn't air those outbursts. Sweet Cousin Carl called out his CC right in front of a camera a few weeks ago during a rain delay. So he must be bi-polar too. Tony does so many good things, I hate that his bad actions make us forget the good.
F5 - Do you think J.J. has a chance at getting another ride?
IMO Jack Roush is an ass.
Barb G - I was cheering for Johnny but I like Hornaday too and I like his owners. :)
I checked the Loudon weather online. The NWS says it's going to rain until after 6 pm. Maybe another Monday race. Of course, how often is the weatherman wrong? LOL
Posted by: Diane | Sep 13, 2008 8:37:01 PM
Woo hoo for Grandpa! Good finish for Johnny B too. I like both those guys but Ron needed a win today after all the crap he was put through. Kind of like a FU.
I like David Starr but he put three trucks in the wall today. I don't blame the Germaine guys for being ticked but that wasn't exactly the way to get your complaints aired. I think the guy who was trying to drag David out of the truck is in for a big expensive surprise sometime next week.
I could be wrong but I think JJ got a bum deal at JGR. Stick him in Puffs car and see what he could do.
It's raining here now. It will be moving on to NH overnight. Maybe it will be all done raining by Noon at Concord.

aggie do you have a mancrush on the 88?
The Truck race WAS awsome...OLD Skool! I'm happy the Rocket recovered and finishes 2nd,
Glad to see Todd take the high road in post race...Starr needs a UA...dumbass
On JJ He is way more marketable than Denny or Tony...Sorry But Tony is Bi-Polar and you just don't know what to expect out of his mouth...I understand he came in second and wants to win, But like Zip said we win as a team we lose as a team
Close Circuit to Jack Roush, Boo Hoo, go shake down Ford for 400 Mil to buy your Championship...did that sound too bitter?...I was aiming for stinging, I'll settle for a burning sensation when he...

Woo Hoo, hope you guys were watching the Truck race. Real excitement afterwards. A big brawl. Gonna be some huge fines and suspensions.

k2
grab the lastest si has your ecu team in it and while your at the newstand grab car driver, great artcile on lee roy Y kinda sad but great reading on the old days 50 something races a year back then??
k2 u should see that cover of time so clear u can count sarah's hair foliciles on it, unreal resolution
k2
you meant 29 lol not 31 you must have slipped on the keyboard :), youve liked that 43 a few times this year
29 is the hottest car at rcr right now and yeah i knwo i slammed the poop out of kev :)
29, 88 18 20 11 its a trd day
i loved when they asked hornaday who he thought would win the chase duh???
Posted by: aggie | Sep 13, 2008 4:57:20 PM
Did you guys see that RFR is crying about not having enough money again? They're upset that they have to get down to 4 cars. Said they might have to cut down in the truck series. Jack, dig into your deep pockets!!!
K2 - I think Marty Smith is the best racing writer/reporter.
Did you see the early battle in the truck race between Hornaday and Benson? Good stuff.
As far as bad equipment, I will include the 26, the 18 for a few years before KyB, the 99 with Burton, etc.
Posted by: Diane | Sep 13, 2008 4:30:55 PM
Graceann - I think JJ Yeley is much more marketable than Denny. He's got the personality, looks, communicates well. I'm not sure he had the same equipment but I don't think he has quite as much talent. Wish he did because I really like him.
Posted by: Diane | Sep 13, 2008 4:22:47 PM
The only person @ ESPN I will take there back is Marty Smith overall. He doesnt BS and lie...
Given shitty equipment? Been happening for alot of teams for a long time.
Rocket @ Roush
The 5 car since Terry L left
Ona nd on and on..
Ball say,31, 18,24(yes 24), 07,and wildcard 43
Posted by: Kurt2 | Sep 13, 2008 4:20:36 PM
I agree Diane, Sometimes I wonder about JJ Yeley. If he had been given the same equipment as TS & DH would his career with JGR had been different? Was it because he was not as marketable as the other 2? Is that what it all comes down to? If you don't make a hit with the fans regardless of your skills or if you pass your prime (so to speak) you receive crap for equipment and so goes your career?
Posted by: Graceann | Sep 13, 2008 4:04:23 PM
Graceann - You can bet Logano's car will not be a regular #96 car.
Barb G - ESPN has turned into the National Enquirer. It loves to stir up controversy and humiliate people. They try to portray Hornaday as an addict, they replay radio comments by Bowyer to hurt Michael and try to make a big deal out of Stewart's comments. Dale Jr. really bashed ESPN in an interview. Good for him. The fans might have a better idea of what is said on the radios if they would broadcast the 2 Jrs. during a race.
Posted by: Diane | Sep 13, 2008 3:01:29 PM
It's a shame that Ron Hornaday was forced to discuss a medical condition that's nobody else's business. It has no bearing on his racing yet his privacy has been invaded for nothing.
Posted by: Barb G | Sep 13, 2008 12:22:13 PM
Diane, JL will have a car to match the #18. There has been so much hipe played into this young man that JGR wouldn't dare give him a piece of shit car to drive. I would hope that TS has the same quality of car, but my doubts are mounting. Oh, I hope KK kicks butt this week-end. He is such a worm maybe he can wiggly his way to the front.
Posted by: Graceann | Sep 13, 2008 11:39:52 AM
Aggie,
Hornaday isn't using his wife as a shield, he said she was using one of them also for a condition. He admitted to using the cream from 13 months.
Roger clemens actually tried to blame the purchase of the drugs on his wife.

harriet meirs ??????? where do you dream this stuff up isnt she linked up with marvin belli??
crystal ball is foggy here but i see the top 12 will start up front, should be interesting to see which of the 12 forgets the race isnt won on the first few laps
i like silent assasins and the 29 looks like one right now, i like his attitude 1st or 12th
whats hornaday doing using his wife a sshield like clemons did
what's funny in 20 years these hgh drugs will be main stream with our never wanna look or get old society

Jon2,
Hornaday isn't a druggie, he admits to using a prescripted medication for a medical condition. Don't put him in the same category of people that take illicit drugs, it isn't even in the same ball park.

As flawed as we are on so many levels immigrants continue to clamor to get in.
Freedom, standard of living and opportunity is what you have in the usa......usa's population would be 2x if you opened the border up with just mexico lol
in small town usa with a walmart, the internet, food and gas, you can live better than 99.9% of the world
like i tell guys who bicth and moan up here about canada,,,,, the border is open, & planes are flying so go away ASAP

News Release:
From your reporter whose on the ground covering Joe Biden's Gaffe Campaign.
"Just this week, Joe Biden mused that Senator Barack Obama might have been better off with Hillary Rodham Clinton as his running mate.
"Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America," Biden said Wednesday in Nashua, New Hampshire. "Quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me."
Earlier in the week, in Columbia, Missouri, Biden urged a paraplegic state official to stand up to be recognized.
"Chuck, stand up, let the people see you," Biden shouted to State Senator Chuck Graham, before realizing, to his horror, that Graham uses a wheelchair. "Oh, God love ya," Biden said. "What am I talking about?"

Oh man, Aggie. I remember that like it was yesterday. The whole nation was glued to the TV that whole weekend and then some. Our young country has been through some very crappy stuff over the years. What's ironic is that nobody is clamoring to get out of here. As flawed as we are on so many levels immigrants continue to clamor to get in.

The only appropriate way to honor the losses suffered in 2001 is victory over the Islamo-Arab enemy.
That's why we're in Iraq, it's why we're in Afghanistan, and it's why we're winning there.

then 2 days ( i had to wait for border to open even though i knew all the guys there) later iam crossing into the usa at pembina and after clearing customs i sat on my bike looking down and the customs guy looks at me and asks what wrong as i looked down at the ground and i said to him,
"i never reliazed how important this line/border is and how crossing it will change for ever and how much i appreaciated the freedom of crossing it and how id nevr do anything to stop me from entering the usa" and i crossed the border and rode into pembina and gathered some more thoughts on the last 48 hours and its impact on my life
evry time i go thru customs anywhere i think of that day and how i lost something easy to do and now have to go thru the bs we all go thru at airports :(

I don't think there's anyone out there who doesn't remember where they were that day, Michael. I'll also never forget where I was the day Jack Kennedy was assassinated. Nov 22, 1963 and Sept 11, 2001 are forever etched into my memory.

Michael,
Couldnt agree more on so many people whom
"cut thru the tape" and get things done.
Wasnt married at the time and didnt know the wife, but hear the stories of that day.
There were so many people lost and people whom stepped up and never did it for the credit.. You know what I mean :)

I was in working in Washington DC on 9/11. That morning I was scheduled to have meeting with the structural engineer of the project I was working on who is very well known and on retainer with the government. We heard of the New York attacks and then all hell broke loose in DC. He was summoned to the Pentagon and was one of the first one's into the building. He also ran the reconstruction effort of the Pentagon. Great guy, smart, and takes crap from no one. Unbelievable what he was able to accomplish. It was honor to work with him and see him in action. I don't think anyone else could have cut through the government red tape and re-built the Pentagon ahead of schedule other than him.
The memories of that day in DC, seeing everyone hysterical, the Pentagon in flames, and finally getting home that night to see the replays of what everyone else had watched in NYC will stay with me forever.
