Three more lock themselves into the Chase
Johnson, Earnhardt Jr. and Burton locked themselves into the Chase with their runs at California. Typical of California, it was a follow the leader race and the front car, which happened to be Johnson, ran away with it. Strange how he didn't have any problems with his car being overly loose like everyone else, it seems like everyone but Johnson was complaining about the car being loose.
Greg Biffle had a great finish of second, but didn't have enough for Johnson, all Biffle has to do is start at Richmond to lock himself in, the rest of the drivers have to go by where they finish. Harvick had a good run, finishing 4th after starting 33rd, he hasn't locked himself in the Chase yet, but just has have a good finish. Also good finishes by the Red Bull cars.
Two of the cautions were kind of comical, one being for a caution light falling on to the track and another where part of a caution light fixture falling on to the track. It would seem that with all the money the track is taking in that those lights would be secure enough to withstand the force of the wind caused by the cars going by.
Clint Bowyer is still in the last Chase spot as of now, but he's only 17 points ahead of Ragan and 44 points ahead of Kahne, all need great runs at Richmond if they want to make it in.
Your thoughts?

Heck of a day for a boat ride! Lake was almost empty, could have did the deed on Mears spotter and none would have been the wiser. Just Kidding. Kids were almost human today, except when they decided to play circle of death with the newcomer. He did not win the game, have any of you ever played this game? It is a drinking game. These kids are all 23 and older but still very mischievous. This poor feller never had a chance against this bunch. They were camping for the week-end and we went for a long day and got home about 11:00 tonight. To be that age again. I laughed until I cried at them.

Whoever's buying a husky or husky-in-the- mix unless you keep him locked up they like to run.
Our husky mix took off one time, thought he was gone for good, two years later a vet three counties west of us called and said someone brought our dog (ID'd his antichrist chip in back of his neck) in to get examined then stiffed the vet for the bill.
Got the dog back, put one of those electric fences in and attached the super duper shocker around his neck. He don't leave the property now.
Beautiful day for a race. Too bad.

Aggie, I'm so, so very sorry about Chance. We once got a card from our vet after we lost a pet that said our pets surely go to heaven, because a place like heaven just has to have our pets. Billy Graham says he believes our pets probably go to heaven. I believe it with all my heart. That makes it a little easier. I'm sitting here crying, just thinking about it all. I'm not going to read F5's post, too sadi, but I think I've read it before.
I'm also sad because my dog, Sadie, is a senior citizen. I need to just enjoy her and worry later. She's in very good health. I have a "girlie" dog. We got her, when she was about 6 months old at the county humane society 16 years ago. They called her a Shih Tzu, but she's a Lhasa Apso, probably mixed with ?. She's in really good physical health, but has lost some of her sight and hearing and has a little arthritis. I've become obsessed the last few years, in trying to do everything I can to make her happy.
Border Collies are very smart.

F5, That is so true. They look at you so openly innocent, so trusting, so willing, so eager to please. We have 2 dogs, 2 cats and a hamster. They are all spoiled rotten, even the hamster knows the sound of my voice, she sits up on her hind legs and waits for me to pick her up. I have to give her treats every night before we go to bed. The dogs get a cookie before they sleep.

Aggie,
Next week??? *deep breaths, deep breaths* Sending more hugs your way.
Diane,
I love your story.

aggie I have this framed in Memory of Chaucer, Be warned Kleenex will be manditory my friends
A Dog's Prayer
Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me. Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do. Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps falls upon my waiting ear. When it is cold and wet, please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements. And I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. Though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land, for you are my god and I am your devoted worshiper. Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life should your life be in danger. And, beloved master, should the great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest -- and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

"big e can train him next week to go hunting with him, neil bonnet & davey allison :)"
Aggie - That's one of the sweetest things I've heard. My brother's dog died when she was 12. A year later my brother died. I rewrote some of the words to Brad Paisley's song "When I Get Where I'm Going" to say "he'd meet his old friend Sadie and walk along the beach", etc. I always think of my brother and Sadie when I hear that song.

Aggie, like everyone on here- I'm sorry to hear about Chance. My dog Troubles Marie is 11 and arthritis is giving her a run for the money, she can't go for walks or up and down stairs anymore- got her from the pound. They said she was a cocker mix, wrong, more like lab sheperd mutt mix but the best pound puppy, I am dreading the day she leaves for the rainbow bridge, damn now I'm crying. Pound puppies are GREAT, they pick you and are always very grateful, got our AKC weiner dog from there as well, the weiner doesn't like the cats though she thinks they are play toys.
Glad to see NASCAR postponed the races until Sunday, hope everyone stays safe and dry. Looking for the #31 to pull off a victory!

Love it, got a rainy night and day off to hang out with the "girls"... Sunday should be real interesting on a "green track" , set up for night, and racing in the day.. Ladies and gents the CHASE just got more interesting...
Heading to friends, HONDO's for dinner and watching College ball all day.. Cant wait

Oh, Aggie, I'm so sad for you and your pup. I never knew I was a dog person until we got Ruby two years ago and the thought...I can't deal with it. I love her with all my heart. Now I'm crying for you. Goddamn it. Give him whatever he wants, whenever he wants it, and cherish these days. Hugs to you.
I can't make a recommendation. Ruby's a mutt. She was an owner turn-in at the pound and they said she had some lab and hound of some kind, but whenever we take her out, people always say she looks like she's got some pit bull in her. She's 65 lbs of dumb, goofy, never-listens, bed-hogging, kid-protecting, endless energy, doggy goodness.

So sorry Aggie, Little late on the news, been really busy here. We have 2 border collies, great dogs. Don't know what we would do with out them. Kind of medium sized dogs and very smart. We had the underground fence for a while, the female would just get a tennis shoe in her mouth and run across it, yelp just a little. The male will not do anything to disappoint his master. His reminds of the dog on movie 8 below that waited on the line for his master to return.
Posted by: Graceann | Sep 5, 2008 6:04:30 PM
aggie I feel for you, I lost my best friend of 16 years...Yellow Lab, Did all those things, to the lake, Ice cream, he retired at 10 from hunting, Became fat and lazy, and suddenly traumitized by loud noises...thunder, fireworks....shredded a feather tick(daughter calls em Duevee?) I had feathers EVERYWHERE...at 16 he got bit by a Brown Recluse spider and it almost took his leg off, he survived that, only to become a victim of cancer...The saddest day in my life...I vowed not to get another dog and I lasted just over a year, When Cheyenne chose me...Labradoodles are somewhat of a crapshoot, my does shed, more lab than poodle I guess, BUT she is so smart...K2 if you get one female are by far easiest to work with, BUT I have had Labs forever, you need to exercise them, give them attention often, socialize them, and if you meet all of their needs they are the best dogs period. I'm gonna take her out and see how well she works with live birds this fall!

I think it would be a good idea for NASCAR to cancel everything right now and wait until Sunday. That way we can see a better, safer race. They've run 2 races in one day before. Maybe they can do that this week.
It would be bad to start the race Sat. night and not be able to finish it since it would probably affect who makes the chase and who doesn't.
K2 - Your "girls" might enjoy adding another day to their vacation. :)
Posted by: Diane | Sep 5, 2008 5:26:42 PM
Per NASCAR,
RIR is to see 20 some hours of rain.. Its steady and ugly now and going to get worse...
If they attmept to go tommorrow night I see a nasty green race track. We freaking are impounded and look for massive early stops since it might be day on Sunday..
No one wants another, lets take 5 hours and start, then halfway crap..

Aw man, aggie. I'm sorry about your dog. It really sucks to lose a buddy.
My friend has a lemon beagle and he's a great housedog. The only trouble is he sheds like gangbusters.
Going out on a limb with #20,#48,#18,#8 and #99. I think we'll be watching a Sunday Cup race this weekend.

K2 - Glad you have the "girls" with you this weekend. You're going to need them to keep you company during all the rain.:) Stay safe.

You hunt moose up there in your parts of Canada?
K2,
Robbie Gordon may have sued Dakar for caving into the terrorist threat, but one of Robbie's Dakar sponsors sued his org to retrieve part of their sponsorship money. In addition, Robbie displayed this same sponsors name on his CUP car early in the year and the same sponsor sued him to get their name off.
Robbie's always got the drama going on and in most circumstances it's all negative.

J2, J2, J2,
Damn I agreed with you and here we go again..
1) Please dont belittle Robby for drivind DAKAR. You HMS boys couldnt do it , hell your JJ cant freaking drive a CTS or Cup car at Bristol, much less thru foreign countries..
2) I didnt see Robby get sued at NH, after the 24 in 2001 hit him and Robby knocked his ass out of the way and won..
3) You might be a bright man J2, but you have no realm in NASCAR..PLease note the contract before you discuss the fact of GEM and RGMS suit..
Also, HE sued DAKAR.. Not DAKAR rally suing him, they screwed every driver and entry and didnt give them the entry money back.. That to me isnt friviolous at all.
Plus as at least F5 can contest, you think I am mean ?? Run off with him(RG), he is like a few drivers I know he would smack the hell out of you (and not with a car)..
THis lawsuit is RGM and GEM is total remnants of BDR and that other one:) No concern, the legal verbage was never signed off on in the sale.. That kinda matters..
J2, stick to politics, where I am scared I agree a bit with you
Posted by: Kurt2 | Sep 4, 2008 11:16:56 PM
Aggie, You are right about him sounding like the Rock. I knew he sounded like somebody I just couldn't place him. We used to watch wrestling all the time when Stone Cold and the Rock were on there. Heck we even went to see it. Got my car broke into by some punks at Freedom Hall that night, setting on the front row and the security people didn't even see it. Big mess, dumb-ass me hid my purse under the seat and the bums found it. Was up most of the night trying to remember which credit cards were in there so I could call and cancel them. Big heads up not to carry anything personal in my purse anymore only what I need on that occasion.
