Edwards causes The Big One at Dega
Carl Edwards bumped teammate Greg Biffle to help him move forward better, but did it in the turn and caused the Big One that took out a lot of cars and Chasers. Edwards took the blame, saying it was his fault, saying something to the effect that they had been bumping like that all day and they must have just lined up wrong. My question is, why NASCAR didn't put a stop to the bump drafting in the turns like they've done in the past? Before, NASCAR sent out many warnings to drivers about bump drafting in the corners, telling them not to do it, yet in todays race, they were bump drafting all over the track, even in the corners. If NASCAR had stuck to it's previous "no bump drafting in the corners" stance, this Big One may not have happened. Other than Edwards and Biffle, other collected in the wreck were Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Joe Nemechek, Reed Sorenson, Matt Kenseth, Travis Kvapil, Michael Waltrip, Dave Blaney and Juan Montoya, many of those cars were doing well and had a chance to win.
Tony Stewart won the race after NASCAR determined Regan Smith went below the yellow line to try and pass Stewart, Smith contended that he was forced down below the line. This is Stewarts first win at Dega.
Tires seemed to be a problem today too, causing a few problems.
Your thoughts?

Well this is what I have to say Carl Edwards is the best. Don't be jealous of him because he beat Tony and Jimmy. They both suck. And what is up with Kyle Busch someone needs to get rid of him he has a bad attitude!!!!

John, you're a fool. People go to these races to see lead changes. 64 lead changes is what EVERY race is suposed to have. They run the plates because it isbetter racing and it is safer. It is DRIVERS who breed wrecks - it is never the rule. What is it about this fact people don't want to accept?

The #9 team busted their rear ends tonight. Proud to be a fan. They were pumped at the end, proud of the 2nd place finish, wish it had been a win. It was good to hear that sound back in their voices over the scanner. I think I will have to be a closet fan if they go Toyota, I just can't leave my #9 team.

Congratulations to Jeff and his team. Second in points and just 69 back.
Jimmie gave Jeff a lot of credit in the post race press conference. Actually said that Jeff brought RCR back to being competitive. I guess JJ might be smarter that J2.
Barb G - You're right about Lady Karma visiting Carl tonight. LOL.
All-State ladies - Great race for Kasey. I thought he might pull out the victory. But must admit I'm glad Jeff won.

Jon2,
HaHaHaHaHaHa, Maybe Chrissy Wallace can give the boy some pointers on the JV.
Like I said before, the boy couldn't drive a wheelchair if Chad didn't fix it for him.
Jo Ann,
Saw the pics. Holy Crap!!!!!!!!!!

when he touches the wrong person.

J2, It proves one thing, without Chad, JJ cannot do it!!! Without Chad's setup JJ cannot do it. He laughs it off because he knows he can't do it. It's just one more thing JG can do better than him that eats alive and he can't stand it so he continues to humiliate himself trying to beat JG.

Diane, It was during the longer rain delay. It was when they gave the family the keys to their new home, don't get me wrong, I love to see them give back. His wife jumped in and was hugging and JJ reached out shook the little boy's hand and his hand went back to his pants leg and rubbed across his thigh. It looked to me as if he was wiping his hand. Could be wrong but that's the way I took it.
Posted by: Graceann | Oct 11, 2008 4:25:22 PM
So J2,
The little leagues dont matter.
Lets see Rusty W., SR. Mark Martin( watiing for you to jump on his bandwagon), Johnny Benson,Dale Jr(your bandwagon boy now), Matt K., Kurt Busch etc etc etc etc all won in the JV leagues and had awesome careers..
Do you have a clue whom came from ASA racing? ARCA? CTS? Or Busch???? Do you? I mean amazing talent?
I doubt you do
You rational that "his heart wasnt in it" is bullshit. He wasnt squat when he was in the Busch series in the Excedrin car, and he is proven over and over he cant drive CTS, or Busch ..He DOESNT HAVE TO DO IT. HE chooses too.
Thus we all get a chcukle when he seems like Steven Wallace, but hell least Steven gets in a wreck, Jimmie spins himself out :) goig solo
WEll time to mosy to have a great night..Enjoy the race and look for "some issues"..
Knew it was too long for the Harvick /Edwards issue to hit the net:0. Actually slow this time..
Pinned up in the 29 hauler as of last night :)
Posted by: Kurt2 | Oct 11, 2008 4:23:46 PM
Deb,
So what. Said it before, and it bears repeating because I said it before, who gives a rats patooey about the junior varsity league.
In all my years of junior high, high school, and collech, the JV was for those who had no talent to compete with the Big Boys.
I'm certain JJ's heart is really in it. It's like, why am I doing this when I'm the king of the mountain in the Big Dog's league. What's wrong with me. I don't need this distraction. I don't need to prove to myself or my fans that I'm a winner. I got two, make it three after this year, CUP championships and 30+ wins.
It's quite comical, that you and your ilk can find fault with a sports figure who wins and is always a contender in the really important series of the sport, the CUP part, when he takes a temporary sashay down to the little league to help generate ticket sales and doesn't bring home a win - he's got no talent.
Great performances are performed on the great stages. The JV league of NASCAR doesn't come close.

people like you tend to make the rest of y'all republicians look like bottom feeding mouth breathers. the rich end of your party must be laughing their asses off cause you support them so willingly.
at the last stop when the lady with the scarey lookin bleached out hair took mccains mic and said, "i can't bring myself to support obama cause he's a... he's a ahhh he's a... he's a arab."
the look of who let this ignorant fuckin pos in my campaign stop on mccain's face pretty much said it all.
after grabbing his mic back mccain quietly said "obama is a decent man" and the "faithful" booed him.
y'all are gettin' kinda scarey.

Hey Jon2,
Great performance last night, yet again by JJ in the lower class series, (as you call it). The boy can't drive a Truck or a Nationwide car. Pretty darn funny isn't it Jon2 where so many other drivers can drive all 3.
Gooooooooooooooo Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

F5 - It's still being reported that Allmendinger doesn't have a ride for next year. It's a direct quote from A.J. Should I be worried about it?
K2 - I thought for sure the 31 was going to catch the 18 last night. A few of the restarts sure were screwed up.
I've been watching Allgaier run ARCA for awhile and he's very impressive. They interviewed him during one of the rain delays last night and he did a great job. Very mature and well spoken.
Graceann - I missed the JJ humanitarian special. Was it a separate program or during the race?
I don't like the politics either.
Posted by: Diane | Oct 11, 2008 1:25:13 PM
Is it my imagination or was I the only one who saw the great and powerful JJ wipe his hand after he shook the little boy's hand last night on his humanitarian special?

Again, I plead the 5th on politics.

hold on they didnt, so lets not talk that on here..

From boston.com:
"I decry racism and anti-Semitism in every form and strongly condemn the anti-Semitic statements made by Minister Farrakhan," Obama said.
From a Tim Russert interview:
OBAMA: You know, I have been very clear in my denunciation of Minister Farrakhan's anti-Semitic comments. I think that they are unacceptable and reprehensible. I did not solicit this support. I obviously can't censor him, but it is not support that I sought. And we're not doing anything, I assure you, formally or informally with Minister Farrakhan.

Long night, Long race.
Congrats to the 18, stout car and couldnt be touched.
The 29(Jeff B)was flying but couldnt get him at all...
The Penske kid, Justin A. , is going to be damn good. Good kid and alot fo talent, sucks his night ended with Steven Wallace of all folks.I swear Rusty needs to reevaluate that car/driver combo..
On to the big show later..
Finished picks from earelier;
9, 29, 31 ,6 and the 43(yep the Petty ride:)
Area of discussion last night after the race. Can a FMS fan tell someone why the hell he cant ever drive a Busch car, nopr a CTS??? Logically it makes no sense???
Last night was Bristol CTS redux??? WHile we laughed, it still doesnt make logical sense..THings that make you go "HUMMMM":)

Diane, You would think that a "Champion" driver such as JJ, would be able to master a simple Nationwide car or truck for that matter. The others don't seem to have a problem switching from series to series. IMO that's part of being a "Champion" the versatility of being able to change, adapt and master all types of racing.
Posted by: Graceann | Oct 11, 2008 9:31:42 AM
From World Net Daily:
For our Christian audience's reading pleasure.
"Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, another powerful Chicago-based political figure associated with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and other long-time associates of Democratic Party presidential candidate Barack Obama, is leaving no doubt about what he thinks of the leader in the campaign for the White House.
He says when Barack Hussein Obama talks "the Messiah is absolutely speaking."

Congrats to Kyle Busch and Team on their win
in the Nationwide tonight.
Kyle has had a fantastic season winning his
20th. of the year in NASCAR's top three

Series.
Jeff Burton, Brian Vickers, Clint Bowyer &
Carl Edwards all ended up in the top five.
It was a long race due to rain, wrecks, etc.

LMAO!!! Thanks, guys, for thinking that a couple of my lines were actually funny!

Here's what Kevin had to say about the Edwards' incident today:
"You've just got to be careful who you want to pick a fight with,'' Harvick said after qualifying for Friday night's Nationwide Race. "If you want to pick a fight with the wrong person sometimes it turns around and bites you, no matter how big and tough you think you are.''
Reminded that Edwards is in the thick of the Cup race, trailing two-time defending Cup champion Jimmie Johnson by 72 points, Harvick responded, "So are we.''
After a brief pause, Harvick, who is 171 points out of first, added, "I could give two s---- about who Carl Edwards is and what he's in the race for.''
I'm going to repeat my earlier comment - "You gotta love Harvick".
