Close points battle going into Homestead for the Truck Series, as usual
The Truck Series has always given us a great points battle going down to Homestead and this season is no different with only 3 points separating Benson and Hornaday.
I honestly thought the battle was lost on lap 1 when Hornaday and Busch got together and caused that big wreck, Hornadays KHI truck was a mess. Granted, Benson got some damage, but it appeared to just be mostly cosmetic, but I have to give a "great job guys" to KHI and company for getting that #33 patched back together and back out on the track!
Benson had another close call with the #6 truck, but once again, it seemed as if luck was on his side and he didn't get much damage out of that one. At the rate things were going, I thought for sure, that the championship was won by Benson because of that lap 1 wreck, after all, Hornaday was 29 laps down after getting back out on the track.
Then on lap 87, Benson got the bad end of a wreck with T.J. Bell and had to go behind the wall for repairs. While he had a bit of damage, I was basically thinking it was still over, but they spent more time behind the wall than I anticipated and now we have a close points battle again going into Homestead. After all of that, Hornaday actually gained 3 points on Benson when it was all said and done.
Congrats to Harvick for winning the race in his #2 truck, making it three in a row for KHI, not only that, but it set a new record for the Truck Series, three wins in a row by a team with three different drivers. Way to go Harvick and KHI!

I've never said this before, but I will be glad when this season is over. Most of the races have sucked.
This race sure got wild towards the end. Stupid wrecks and tempers raging. I think most of the drivers are ready for this year to be over too.

No exile I just think that the country needs balance and I think that extreme left is as bad as extreme right - I have very firm beliefs and I believe in the tenets that this country was founded on - Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to express my opinions whether you agree with them or not - That is what freedom is all about and the one side must balance the other - Definitely not a racists, think it is ignorant for anyone to pick leadership, friendsip, business associates based on race....IMO racists are as dangerous as those who hide behind the cry of tyranny because of their race - Please get a life - The minority communities have had and continue to have more advantage than the majority community ever has since the days of JFK and MLK - but the difference is that MLK based his rally on faith and the beliefs that our founding fathers set forth for this nation. He was truly a hero - So was JFK - White male supremist that he would be called now days - After all being born white rich and priviledged automatically makes you a racist - right - !!
Maybe all politics should be run by blog - Then we could get a free exchange of idears and consesus rather than always trying to defer every thing to racism. I live in the south and I have seen the days of rampant racism - Was raised in them but I have to say that is the very small minority now. People are people and ideologies are ideologies - Study history see the effects of a people that think they deserve to be taken care of by their government - Sounds great in bad times to people who are hurting but the big bad secret is it gets worse - I just would like to see more than 10% of the people of the country actually exercising their civic duties and responsibilities more than once every 4 years -- Then we will see real change - Not until then -- So back to my original post - Don't care how you get involved - Just get involved in what you truly believe in and mate the nation a better place

BUT...here at KPS, we are united in that even though some of us LOATHE each other, we all LOVE NASCAR. And on THAT we all agree, that this is a great sport, that with a little tweeking can be as great as it USED TO BE.

newfan - The web site you posted is just another place for extremists to compare notes and bash the things that do not comform to their beliefs. There are organizations like this for extremists who are LIBERALS as well as conservatives. IMO they are filled with hate and are only trying to divide our country more than it already is. Diane, wow, that's a quote that definitely shows his true feelings. I would be insulted if I were Hornaday, being called the lesser of two evils.
I use to be OK with Roush, he either had me snowed the whole time or he changed drastically since his plane accident, since I don't remember him being this outspokenly vocal against others before the accident. He just seemed less angry back then.

I didn't read the story Diane, but I heard them mention the Roush crew helping with the #33 during the race. Thought it was strange that they helped, you don't usually see another crew of a different make helping one another, same make yes, but not different.

Interesting story at scenedaily. Seems Jack Roush had some of his guys help get the #33 truck repaired and back on the track Friday. But didn't do anything to help the #23 when it was being repaired. Jack must really hate Toyota because he doesn't like Hornaday but doesn't want a Toy to win the truck championship:

Diane, look for a copy of the December issue of Nascar Illustrated. Have you heard who's on the cover....the "Person of the Year"? : ) I remember how surprised and happy I was last year. I went to the mail box, took out the new issue of the magazine and there was Jeff Burton named person of the year. He was with Roush Racing a few years ago, when that organization was named but last year was special to me.
Aggie, good luck to you in CA. I'm sure you'll find a way to have fun, even if you'd rather stay in the frozen trunda.

Jon,just re-read the post and re-anaylze.My point was why race hard the very first lap of the race against of all people Kyle, especially when after battling the whole lap side by side only to be behind on the inside when the car on the outside has the advantage plus the potential for the air to be taken off the 33's spolier???He got what he deserved and if you asked him I'm sure he would say I should have just chilled.Yep,he needed to lead a lap,but didn't have to be the first......
Tarheels looked great even though giving up a crowd of yardage.G..your boys just got by,but they got by!!

The NNS race has been exciting. Those guys are driving crazy. Lot of messed up cars. Little over 1/2 way and Edwards is only 39 points back of Bowyer.

Why is it bone headed to want to lead the first lap when you are in a tight points race with two races to go? It is more of a bone headed move to be racing a guy that needs all the points he can get when you have absolutely nothing to gain by doing it.

I'm a fan of both the 33 and 23 trucks. So I'll be happy no matter which one wins. But if I could pick the winner, it would be JB.
My crystal ball picks for Sunday are 29, 31, 48, 88, 99. It couldn't make up its mind on the sleeper: 6, 8, 26, 2, 12, 10. Might as well pick to whole field. LOL.

I admit I was loving it when the 33 went out.Just not a KH fan.Pretty boned- headed move on the 33's part obviously wanting to lead that first lap instead of just chillin'.Same can be said about JB.He seemed to be sticking it in there pretty good with some drivers and it finally bit him with the 7.However,that kind of stuff is why the truck series produces much much better action than the other 2 series.I commend them for racing hard,but with the points as tight as they are,JB should have chilled a bit to at least finish top 15.Either way,I love watching the truck series and here's hoping those 2 will be racing hard on the last lap to win the championship.Go JB!

I have to agree with you, I thought the season was over for Hornaday after the lap 1 crash, but I guess the racing gods had another plan in mind for Homestead and the final race of the season. Not that I needed any more reason to despise Kyle Busch, but he just added one more to the list last night. I will leave it at that and not call him any choice names.
Great job by the entire #33 team to make almost miraculous repairs and get Hornaday back on the track and have enough in the truck to pickup spots on Benson.
Homestead is going to be a shootout and when the smoke clears I hope to see Ron Hornaday and Delana Harvick hoisting the trophy in Victory Lane.
