What will NASCAR look like in 2009?
With all the recent layoffs and teams closing shop, what is NASCAR going to look like come February 2009? Teams have been having problems finding sponsorship and that's not recent news, but now teams are shutting doors because of it. With all the news lately, it makes you wonder if NASCAR will be able to have full fields for all three of it's major series.
It's sad to see teams fold when NASCAR supposedly puts things into place to help with costs. Obviously, these things Brian France have come up with are not doing any good and if something isn't done soon, the sport is really going to start suffering, more than it already is.
I have a bad feeling that there will be more layoffs and maybe even teams closing before the start of the season in February and I think a lot of it is NASCAR's fault for not keeping costs down for the teams.
Your thoughts?

Futher information about the 1million dollars Blogavitch was requesting to fill Obama's vacant Senate seat.
"...(Federal Prosecutor) Fitzgerald said, "There's no reference in the complaint to any conversations involving the president-elect or indicating that the president-elect was aware of it, and that's all I can say." His comment DID NOT close the door on the possibility that Obama or someone on his staff may have known of some aspect of the governor's demands."
Willie, I believe it's going to stick.
Barry and his staff were just probably privy to the requirements.

Why do you think I am so vocal with respect to my defense of the elderly against maggots like The Worm?
Other,
At this time of the season anythings more interesting to talk about than say - race car tires.

Doesn't matter Dot what the topic is...it always turns to blowhard politics.
Just me....racing,beer,sports in general seem much more entertaining than someone's political views...and before you say "if you don't like 'em,don't read em'....don't worry I don't.I just scroll down to see if anyone entertains a thought on racing or sports. But it is the off season. To each it's own,but I will defer.......
Merry Ho Ho!

the plot is always thickening about somebody somewhere.
hey, did you get on that "do you know Obama isn't really an american citizen" bandwagon.
how 'bout "nasa never went to the moon and i know some guy in new mexico who has proof."
or, "there are wmd's in iraq."
there's always something around to think about.

well
short term momory loss guy, it was you who told me to go away.
davie and his pals are way too easy to piss off. they remind me of the old coots that comment in my local newspaper. they're old retired guys on social security whinning about government programs except, of course, social security.
really, they are kinda easy to peg. for some reason they feel threatened by people who are struggling in the bush economy.
small thinkin at it's worst.
i didn't mean to make you feel bad about your dad.

Many subjects being covererd on the blog today. : )
Aggie, Paris Hilton can't be a spokesperson for Hilton Hotels. The Hilton's owned very little of the Hilton Group for several years, and as of last year they own zero in the company. (My son works for Embassy Suites, part of the Hilton Group.)
Jon2 How old is the "elderly man" whom had a run in with Kasey K.? Wasn't he 62 or 63? That's not too many years older than Rick Hendrick and Richard Childress. I don't believe most men in their mid 60's are weak and defenseless. Just wait, you might be that age some day.
Posted by: Jo Ann | Dec 9, 2008 10:07:43 PM
J2 - Maybe the posters at Turn 3 are more to your liking. But I haven't seen any comments from you over there today. Guess you just like to aggravate us peons (speaking for myself) here at KPS. Sorry Daly and JD, doubt that you are peons. LOL
Posted by: Diane | Dec 9, 2008 6:41:10 PM
At ABC's Political Punch blog:
"Asked what contact he'd had with the governor's office about his replacement in the Senate, President-elect Obama today said "I had NO contact with the governor or his office and so we were not, I was not aware of what was happening."
But on November 23, 2008, his senior adviser David Axelrod appeared on Fox News Chicago and said something quite different.
While insisting that the President-elect had not expressed a favorite to replace him, and his inclination was to avoid being a "kingmaker," Axelrod said, "I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them."
The plot thickens.
The diddie reeks.

What's wrong Exile, got spanked a little too hard by D Green and the gang over there at Turn 3 and chased you back over here? Turn 3 ain't Obama friendly enough for you? You were a train wreck. Pitiful.
Kinda told you over there to honor your call sign and don't return.

"King George never fired anyone for political reasons."
Posted by: Gretchen | Dec 9, 2008 1:17:53 PM
If he did, wouldn't have set history. Bubba fired all 96(?) Republican district attorneys when he came into office including the attorney who was investigating Whitewater and if any political gain was realized by Bubba.
In fact in 2001, George Bush kept more of the other crowd in their positions than any other elected President in modern history. Said some were doing a grand job and shouldn't be canned because they were Dems.
Other,
Was that...is that...can it be...I believe I just saw The Worm picking up trash along route #1 in the Miami Dade area in order to satisfy his Community Service sentence.
To thse who are elderly in our country with great satisfaction I can now say - Justice has Prevailed.

Come on Kurt2, they aren't going to look into Obama's connection to any of these people. They knew about all of this stuff during the election and now that is too late to effect the outcome of the election they are going to act like it's new information.
Its funny that when it is a Republican involved the media and the libs act like it was a crime against humanity, but if it is a Dim involved they act like "everyone knows politicians are crooks and liars" so it isn't a big deal.

From Reuters:
President-elect Barack Obama was in no way implicated in the federal corruption charges against the governor of his home state of Illinois, a fellow Democrat, the U.S. prosecutor in the case said on Tuesday.
"I should make clear the complaint makes no allegations about the president-elect whatsoever," said U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald.
Posted by: Barb G | Dec 9, 2008 1:36:17 PM
From US Atty Patrick Fitzgerald's statement earlier, "In a conversation with Harris on November 11, the charges state, Blagojevich said he knew
that the President-elect wanted Senate Candidate 1 for the open seat but “they’re not willing to give
me anything except appreciation. (Expletive) them.”
Sounds like Rod was auctioning off the seat for his own benefit to the highest bidder regardless of PE Obama's preference.
Whatever will DEI/Cheep do if Truex and Bass Pro Shops split? TE will have her museum in no time at this rate.
Posted by: Barb G | Dec 9, 2008 1:28:47 PM
....and it keeps coming.
It's now alleged that Jesse Jackson Jr (son of the Rev Jesse Jackson) had accumulated the requested 1million dollars to buy the vacated Senate seat of Barack Hussein Obama from Illinois Governor Blagojevich.
....and it keeps coming.
Rezko is admitting that as a result of then Illinois State Senator Barack Obama granting millions of dollars to his organization for Section 8 housing President Elect Barack Hussein Obama did in fact receive political campaign cash from Rezko as well as favorable real estate transactions as a result of these acts.

King George never fired anyone for political reasons.
Posted by: Gretchen | Dec 9, 2008 1:17:53 PM
...and it keeps coming.
"....The FBI affidavit said Blagojevich had been told by an adviser "the President-elect (Barack Obama) can get ROD BLAGOJEVICH's wife on paid corporate boards in exchange for naming the President-elect's pick to the Senate."...."
Mark my word. Barack Hussein Obama will fire the US District Attorney associated with investigating these scandals on January 21 2009 just like Bill Clinton did to the US District Attorney responsible for the Arkansas area who was investigating Whitewater and other Clinton misdeeds when he assumed the Presidency.

Posted by: Diane | Dec 9, 2008 12:46:59 PM
Rezko is cooperating with the authorities and singing like a canary.
The Governor of Illinois is in a Cook County Jail and will be arraigned in two hours.
An affidavit alleges President elect Barack Hussein Obama is selling US Ambassadorships.
Vice-President elect Joe (don't make fun of my hair plugs) Biden might just be our President and one of the first items of order is to grant Barack Hussein Obama a Presidential pardon.
Don't you just love polietiks.

The court will dismiss the misdemeanor charge against Kahne once he performs his community service, according to Miami-Dade County (Fla.) court records. Such matters are typically resolved with this type of agreement when there is a dispute over the facts and the accused, with no criminal record, prefers to take care of the matter without going to trial. Sounds like to me Archie couldn't produce enough facts for Kahne to be charged.

Federal Grand Jury subpoenas have been issued for the Obama/Rezko land deal.
In addition, among many other alleged nefarious misdeeds, the Illinois Governor has been arrested for trying to sell the vacated Senate seat of Barack Hussein Obama.
Crook county all over again.
The President elect hasn't even been issued the keys to the executive washroom and is already tainted goods.

K2 - Great post, especially pointing out that all our presidents (whether Democrat or Republican) have had serious flaws and made mistakes.
The money Obama's campaign raised definitely helped him get elected. But I am willing to give him a chance. If he turns out to be as bad as our previous presidents, I'll be the first to say so.
If we want Wall St. and K St. to survive, something needs to be done for Main St. I don't want to get called names by Daly or bashed by others on here. So I'm leaving the Big 3 problem to others to debate.
