Bud Shootout, new wildcard entries
More changes for the Bud Shootout. First we were given the "new" way drivers were chosen, top six in owner points for each manufacturer. Now, they added a "wildcard" entry for each manufacturer. The final entry will either be a past champion or the next in line in owner points, this will bring the number of cars in the race to 28 instead of 24.
So, what will the lineup look like?
Chevy - Johnson, Harvick, Mears, Burton, Gordon, Earnhardt Jr. and the wildcard would be Tony Stewart.
Dodge - Kahne, Stremme, Busch, Sorenson, Sadler, Gordon and the wildcard is the 10 (Allmendinger?).
Ford - Edwards, Biffle, Kenseth, Ragan, McMurray, Kvapil (may switch with the 98) and the wildcard is the 38, but hearing they are switching points with the 96 and Bobby Labonte will run the race.
Toyota - Hamlin, Logano, Busch, Vickers, Reutimann, Waltrip and the wildcard is the 22 if they run.
Many fans aren't happy with the new way of doing things, I think that's one of the reasons they added the new wildcard entry, to try and add others into the mix other than the mega teams. Honestly, I think they need to come up with a new criteria for eligibility for the race, I understand they don't do poles anymore, but the owner points thing doesn't seem to work out that well either.
It's been a long cold winter (still is cold!) and it's almost time to go racing again! With all the switching, merging, etc. it may take time to figure out who's who out there this season, but hopefully it will be an exciting season and not dominated by one or two teams!
Your thoughts?
