Typical California Race - Boring
California showed us it's typical style, a boring follow the leader race. Sure there was some lead changes, but it was typical of California, the leader gets out front and takes off. For most of the race, it seemed like there were only four cars racing for the win, the rest following further back...the strong cars of the night were Kenseth, Biffle, Gordon, Johnson and the Busch brothers.
The race was slowed mosly due to small rain showers going through, but never enough to bring out the red flag. To sum it up, it was a rather ho-hum race.
Congrats to Kenseth for the win...making it two in a row.

Wild Daytona
It was definitely a typical wild Daytona race. First off, I have to say NASCAR is starting off in their typical fashion when there is a chance of rain. They knew the rain was going to be moving in, probably before the race ended, so I just don't understand why they didn't push up the start of the race, especially since the pre-race show was so long, lord knows they had time to push it up.
It's also not too good of a start of the season when you have tire problems for the first race of the season, enough where they called a competition caution on lap 25 to check tire wear, which quite a few teams were having issues with. Hopefully, the rest of the season isn't like that with tires.
Logano took a wild ride and hit the inside wall head-on, with the safety of the cars, he was okay, but I guess that was his "Welcome" to big time racing and Daytona, one I bet he hopes not to repeat.
Earnhardt Jr. had lots of troubles in the race, mainly in the pits, which put him into position to be involved in the big wreck that took quite a few cars out. Everyone has their own opinion on that wreck, whether it was okay for Vicker's to block or not, or whether Jr. should have backed down a bit before moving back up on the track after being forced down below the line. I think Jr. should have backed down before moving back onto the track, that's MY opinion, your's may be different. It got very loud around here with the "discussion", if you want to call it that, about that incident.
And last, congrats to Matt Kenseth for his win in the rain shortened race. Not taking away from his win, he could have still won it, but I think NASCAR once again did a disservice to it's fans knowing the rain was going to show up before the end of the race.

Daytona 500 - Who will win?
Well folks...it's almost here and it's time to make your picks for the 500. The standard top teams seemed strong in the Duels and Shootout....HMS, JGR, RCR and Roush, but it's the 500 and as we know anything can happen.
It won't surprise everyone that my pick is Harvick, but while he may not have finished great in the Duels, he did win the Shootout and he has won the 500 before. I also think people should keep an eye out for Tony Stewart, he made a run for it in the Duels, but got shuffled back, don't count him out just because he's not with Gibbs anymore. And although I'm not a big fan of his, Gordon did look strong and he's got a good shot at winning too.
My darkhorse pick would probably be Vickers, he looked strong in his duel.

A Happy Saturday Shootout
After being squeezed into the wall in the early segment and then getting more minor damage from other incidents on the track and losing the draft, I didn't expect Harvick to be up there in the end, let alone win it, but he did.
The downtime in the off-season seemed to have paid off, because Harvick was surprisingly calm throughout the race. I loved his end comment on the radio when he won the race though, "And that Ladies and Gentlemen, is why you never give up."
It was an exciting race after a long off-season with a record number of cautions. I'm not sure if it's because it's been so long since we've seen racing or not, but the cars seemed to have been bouncing around a lot more this time. It should prove for an exciting 500 with 43 cars on the track instead of just 28.
Racing is back!

Bud Shootout - who's your pick?
Racing season is just about to start and as usual, opens with the Bud Shootout on Saturday! While the format and choosing of the drivers has changed a bit, there are still a lot of the top drivers included, so who are your picks to win the shootout?
While I'm sure a lot will pick Johnson, I'm not one of them. I'll be rooting for Harvick, Kahne and yes to all you people who say NASCAR came up with the wildcard for Stewart, I'll be rooting for Tony too.
Who's your pick for the Shootout?
