NASCAR Banquet to move to Las Vegas?
It's all over the place now and supposedly a done deal except for the crossing of the t's and dotting of the it's, NASCAR's Awards Banquet will move from New York City to Las Vegas.
I never thought New York City was a good fit and I'm not sure how Vegas will turn out, but I'm looking forward to the change. Vegas is rumored to be paying from $500,000 to $1 mil for each year if this actually goes through, but they'll be getting lots of money from the gambling alone in return.
Your thoughts?

What "shady crap" are you referring to K2? Rick and the former Gov are friends. Is there something sinister in your mind about the friendship of a politician?

As for the move, when NASCAR moved to NYC it made perfect business sense for a sport breaking out of the south.
But whatever advantage that move had dissipated about 15 years ago, going to Lv is a good move.

Congrats to Kyle Busch and the whole team.
I have always liked Kyle. Like him or hate
him, you'll have to admit he can drive a
race car.
Tony come so close today but tomorrow is
another day and another race.
K2, good choice the #14.
Diane, a win for Tony is getting closer and
closer so let's hope tomorrow is the day.

NYC never made any sense to me. I'm not sure that LV does either but at least it's something different. Ungodly traffic jams, snow and cold weather won't be an issue either.

Deb - Yep, Tony came close today. But don't think anyone could have beaten Kyle. Maybe tomorrow Smoke can pull it off.
Posted by: Diane | Apr 4, 2009 9:13:40 PM
It's about damn time. What good ever came out of New York City?? There sure as hell ain't no southern greasy, fumes snortin, gun toten, 4x4's in New York City that knows anything about Nascar. Not so sure about those Vegas feather flyin show girls, but anything is better than New York city.
Dine,
Smoke was comin, but ran out of laps today. The boys gonna get it done tomorrow.

Posted by: aggie | Apr 4, 2009 8:12:55 PM
K2 - Thank you very much. Hope so too. Though I will be happy if your boss wins.:)

Pulling for the 14 tommorrow..

Evidently NITRO you do care you took the time to post?
From reading the last blog, I note Kyle "
is a baby, whines etc"..
But last I saw he won today, and it wasnt a contest... Certain drivers win a race when? Once in 66 races or so in either series...???
I know Kyle's a "little pansy, bitch etc.. " But the differnce is he actually can drive and proves he wins. OVER and OVERr he does..
So on that note have fun, going to close TExas for the day...

OK I will chime now and again...This move makes sense, New York City obiviously doensn't give two shitzs about Nascar so why go there...Vegas is a tourist Distraction so if Nascar decides they want to "sell" tickets to the event...Nascar is Happy...Vegas is Happy...and I'm sure there are alot of Happy Endings in Vegas!

I agree, I'm looking forward to the change
and like you, I never thought New York City
was a good fit either. I am really happy
about the change from N.Y. City to Vegas. I
think it would be great if NASCAR held the
banquet in a different city each year.
Especially in a city/town where they have a
NASCAR race. This would be great for all the
race fans. (JMO)

nitro113... everyone should care if something illegal is going on between a governor & a businessman... dont matter what party they belong to...

Who cares?

Kinda liked the tradition of New York and the Waldorf..
THink Vegas is going to be overkill for this, but at least it wasnt LA. Oddly enough Bruton Smith gets his way again with NASCAR...
On another topic:
J2, I didnt see anyone as yet mention this on the last blog so I thought I would.
Good to see your Felon ass owner still up to his shady crap with Easley.. Anything else Easley needs I am quite sure Felon can provide.
Rick "reformed" and paid his debt to us? Yeah right , just like Micheal Vick did.. What a damn joke Easley and the crook are.
