Kahne gets his first road course win at Sonoma
Kasey Kahne held off Tony Stewart to get the win in a green/white/checkered finish at Sonoma. Congrats to Kahne!
I have to say that this race was a bit more interesting than in has been in the past, these guys are getting a lot more aggressive on these road courses and it was definitely more interesting than last weeks race. The double file restarts added to the action, especially in the latter laps and definitely on the last restart. Lots of beatin' and bangin' during this race and it wasn't a short track, but it made for some interesting racing.
With his 2nd place finish, Stewart added to his points lead over Gordon, he now leads by 84 points, Johnson is in 3rd, 157 points down.
Congrats again to Kahne for his win.
Your thoughts?

At least Gretchen saw the wreck the right way.
The 88 spun his tires. the 18 and the 1 fanned out and it happened. Had they not fanned it would have been his fault for hitting the 88 and lord forbid the conversation today..
285 out of 12th, seems the prediction of no Chase will be true.. There is always next year for them:) But it will be something then too I am sure.
Good day for the 9 Allstate ladies and the 2 still remains right there..

Barb, I didn't hear them place any blame. But, I dont'think RC would want to send out any of the wine to anyone. :)
It was the best 31 car they'd had all year. They'd finshed rebuilding it. Now, it's torn up. They've been working 7 days a week in the shop, rebuilding their cars.
It's bad no matter whose car it is, just hits home when it's your favorite driver.

Congrats to Joey Logano and team on their
win.
The #14 is HOT, HOT, HOT. Good job Smoke and
keep it up.
Hey Kasey Khane ladies he had a good run and
ended up in the top 10.
Good job by David Reutimann, Brad K. and Sam
Hornish Jr. all ended up in the top 10.
aggie, yeah Brad K. had a great run today.
I've added him to my list of favorite's
especially since he's from my hometown. He's
going to be a great driver.
Gretchen, I like Dale Jr. also and I think
he's doing some better. Jr. and his new C.C.
need just a little more time.

Yeah, Jo Ann. I think you're right. I'm sure young Mr Rowdy (gag me) is at the top of Mr Childress' shit list tonight. :)
Congrats to Joey, Zippy and the #20 team!
I love the double-file restarts.

I don't think Kyle will be getting any Childress wine if Childress can keep him from it. ;)

well aggie
i watched about 5 minutes max of soccer and cup cause the 7 year old who lives in my house got a wii from her favorite adult, that be me and yes i'm an adult often or maybe just sometimes, and wii be jammin the wii with our mii's.
having lived thru mj it still kinda surprises me the amount of attention.
but then it is more in tune with the average american to watch fluff than real stuff that impacts our lives. you know the truth i guess is too much to think about.
at all.

Nothing went right today. I have to blame Miss New Hampshire (the one named after a RINO) because my dog wouldn't stop barking for nearly an hour. If it weren't for shrub driving like my ex on a Midol run, there wouldn't have been much to watch. Send that boy a special case of Childress Merlot.

Gretchen, your sangria soaked balls are doing very well right now at the 164 lap mark. Are you jumping up and down for the 88?

Mays was on the US Airways flight on Saturday that had a hard landing at Tampa International Airport when the plane's front tire blew out.
According to a local Tampa TV station, Mays said: "All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."
now, that's weird.

nobody is trying to stop you from going to church. that's a look at poor me stick fox does to try to make watching them as the ONLY defenders in the so called "war on xmas"
the thing is if you can go to the church of your choice then other people should too.
the ol' story about "my religion hanging on the wall at my courthouse is actually OUR courthouse which includes about 300 other religions... not just YOUR chosen religion.
the war on religion is simply a fund raising tool.

Either way...sad to see a loss of life for anyone that relatively young.RIP to the 3 "Icons".
Posted by: DJ | Jun 28, 2009 2:01:14 PM
First it's Farah Fawcett, then Michael Jackson, and today word is the TV pitchman of all pitchmen, Billy Mays is dead at the age of 50.
How can NASCAR or any other sports even consider performing today out of respect for the passing of these three entertainment icons.

It looked to me like Brian checked up and Scott ran into him, Dawn. I don't think that's what Brian thought, however. It's called testosterone run amok. :)))
I'm LMAO at Bill Weber getting benched for being an obnoxious loudmouth. Well, duh! I know I won't miss him even one little bit.
Way to go Grandpa on the truck win! I hope he races forever. I've been cheering for him since the #16 DEI NAPA truck days. GO GRANDPA!
It was such a joy to watch the truck race minus the fifth-wheel booth boob, Wallbanger, dominating the broadcast. Rick and Phil do a fine job without him.
I'm picking the #14 to win today. Gut feeling. The rest as follows: #99,#5,#48,#2.
My gut had indigestion last weekend when Robby got hosed by a yellow flag. If that boy didn't have bad luck he'd have no luck. His car sucks this weekend so I'm expecting another painful day. It ain't easy being a Robby Gordon fan. :/

Congratulations to Hornaday & Kyle for their wins yesterday. Good job by Almirola with a 4th place finish in the truck race.
What's with Scott Speed crashing into his team mate? Was it just a racing deal or over agressive driving?
Hope the 14, 31 and 39 have good finishes today. For the KK ladies hope the 9 finishes well also.

Congrats to Kyle Busch and team on their
win.
I was hoping Joey could hold off Kyle Busch
and win but it didn't happen. Anyway, good
job Joey, you come in 2nd. and led a lot of
laps.
Good job by Brad K., Mike B. and Kevin H.

Yeah Brad K. is going to be a great driver

going to let him get away. Although, I
wouldn't be surprised if Smoke starts a 3rd.

that was kinda creepy when your gov said he was just like king david, not letterman, the old testament guy who killed a man so he could marry the dead guys wife and still ruled his kingdom.
therefore ye shall go forth and remain the freakin gov of south carolina. suckers.

Correction Aggster.
Still rumors circulating Red Bull gonna switch from Toyota to Chevy, with guess who supplying engines, chassis, technology, development, etc., etc. In 2010 Big Rick just might have eight to nine teams.
Other,
It gets even more sordider regarding Gov Sanford. At one point, late in the game and after his wife told him to get out of the house, the Gov asked his wife, now mind you, permission to travel to Argy so he could doodle his girlfriend some more. Can you believe this guy.
Religion begins in the home and the worship place of your choice and anyone who believes government should promote or legislate that practice is misguided.

Jo Ann, Thanks for trying to answer my question but I just found the following info on thatsracin.com
"Stewart, however, will have to use a backup car in Sunday’s race after wrecking his primary car during Friday’s practice session. He will not have to start at the rear since qualifying had not yet taken place and his team put the original engine in the backup car."
Posted by: Dawn | Jun 26, 2009 4:18:27 PM
Sorry everyone.
I'm hearing the rerun of first practice. The TV guys say Tony's car hadn't been presented for qualfying so he'll get to start where he qualified.
Signed,
Uncertain
Posted by: Jo Ann | Jun 26, 2009 4:16:41 PM
Dawn, Darin Grubb was talking about Tony qualifying to get a good pit stall and if it was rained out, he'd get the #1 stall which would be great, even though he had to start at the back.
That's what I'm going on. I sure could be wrong.
Posted by: Jo Ann | Jun 26, 2009 3:50:19 PM
Speaking of racing ; ) Cup qualifying has been rained outat New Hampshire. The field will line up according to points, with Tony going to the back. He got his primary car in the wall during practice. His backup car is just as good as the primary. Mark Martin brushed the wall at about the same time, with very minor damage and no backup needed.

yeah i was channel surfin and stopped to watch the last few minutes and i don't know jack about it. it's the one where they kick the ball around right. well we got the guns and wacky shooters to make the fan base for that sport.
people have thought for years that soccer would be a perfect fit here in the usa. maybe it needs a couple generations to grow up doing it to make it stick.
i see latino families in the parks playing it like tossin a football around. mom and a couple of their kids v dad and the rest. crazy how other parts of the world are freaks on a sport and we go ho-hummm no interest at all.
like motorcycle racers and car racers are national heros in some countries here not so much.
i did see the usa guy do the brandi chastain rip his shirt off thing but a guy in a tee shirt ain't a soccer chick in a sports bra.
Posted by: exile | Jun 26, 2009 2:15:06 PM
D2 or F5, if Stewart went to a backup car before qualifying, will he have to go to the back? What if quals. are rained out?
