Rollercoaster
This has been a roller coaster week filled with highs and lows. A lot of people have asked me if I ever get nervous or worried when Ryan is racing. My typical response is- I usually try not to think about the danger or risks Ryan takes when he gets into a race car. I am a firm believer of if it is your time, then it is your time and there is nothing you can do about it. I try not to think about the danger- that is, until something happens. I don't know how many people watched qualifying in Texas, but Micheal McDowell's wreck was scary! I would have a hard time being a driver and attempt to qualify after that. Even though I have never met Michael, I was scared for him. You never want to see anyone go through something like that. And I am glad he was okay.
Then Ryan's team went on to have a great 4th place finish on Sunday. However, it was a little less enjoyable after the team went through tech and we were penalized for being too high. Which to the teams defense, I know they did not do intentionally! Yet, you have to abide by the Nascar rules and suck up the penalty.
Tuesday was a tragic day, when we lost a valuable member of the Nascar community. My heart goes out to Brienne Davis' family. Brienne was a female Nascar official that was killed in a car accident here in North Carolina on Tuesday. I will continue to keep her and her family in my thoughts and prayers. She will be missed by many.
I was not able to get out to Phoenix for Qualifying, but I am so excited Ryan and the team are on the pole! I stayed at home to attend an election for the new board of the Iredell County Humane Society here in NC. I was elected as the Secretary and I look forward to helping the animals and people in my county.
I depart for Phoenix tomorrow and look forward to some night racing! I wish all the races on the Cup circuit were night races. There is just something about the energy in the air that is more exciting to me.
I hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend.

Congrats on getting the Pole in Phoenix! It's always good when mom's driver qualifies or finishes in front of the #88, #24, & #20!! Cause I rub it in all week long!
I had a friend that was about 100 feet on the Infield from McDowell's car when it stopped flipping and he said it was pretty scary! We are all glad that he is okay! I'm sure everyone would admit that they like to see a little action on the track but nothing like that!
Well I hope you have a great weekend in Phoenix Krissie! I'm jealous I can't be there to see Ryan WIN!!! Tell him Good Luck from his biggest Montana Fan! By the way have you & Ryan ever been to Montana? We have some Great Fishing Spots here!
Good Luck #12!! :)

Congrats to you on getting elected on the ICHS board, although, there were no doubts in my mind that you wouldn't be. ;) I hope you, Ms. Smith, & all others on the board have good luck finding a new board of directors that best fits the society! Of course, Congrats to Ry on getting his 43rd career pole! Woo-Hoo! Michael had a very bad crash indeed, I don't think I have been that scared for a driver since Ryan's bad crash in Daytona a few yrs back. Thankfully, all the new safety equipment served its purpose in keeping him safe. As for Brienne, I certainly agree with your statement on how God has a certain time and way for us to go. My condolences go out to The Davis', Brienne's friends, & all of those whose life she has touched by being here. May she find peace in the Lord's house surrounded by the arms of angels.

The wreck from last Friday was horrifying!!! That wreck just shows what nascar has done with the COT.(Car of tomorrow). Congratulations for newman winning the pole. It was really amazing seeing him tying bud baker for 10 poles for a record. It will be nice too see him beat number #20,48,24.Or better yet just to see him go out there and win the race.

Congrats on the election -- the animals in Iredell are fortunate to have you on the board.
Looking forward to seeing that 12 car under the lights, and in victory lane, come Saturday night. :)

I had a blast this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway !!! I started off my weekend on Pit Row up close and personal getting autographs and pictures of the drivers, crews and cars !!! I was so excited to see you & Ryan !!!! I have to tell you …..When Ryan was walking out onto pit row for his qualifying he didn’t sign any autographs and there was a lady standing next to me who turned to me and asked if I was upset that he didn’t even try and sign anything and I assured her that He was probably going to sign on his way back in and that he is the nicest driver you will ever meet ….anyways…..when he came back down he didn’t let me down he was signing and with a little bit of cheering for my favorite driver he came over with a big grin on his face so I mentioned to him about our previous conversation, he laughed and said well I can’t promise anything but I said “Yea you always come through for your fans !!!!” He signed my lanyard and I took pictures. I was the lady with the Newman jacket on close to the Garage gate who shook your hand (not that you would remember cause I know you meet lots of fans but it made my day ; ) but I told you your were AWESOME and you smiled !!! The nascar official that was by us the whole day was telling me about how you are taking his daughter, Heather (I think that is her name) up the the University where she plans to go to become a Vet. He was such as sweet guy and had nothing but good things to say about yall !!!
We attended the Big & Rich concert Friday night on the track – What a blast !!!!!! Looked like yall were enjoying it as well along with some fellow drivers ; )
I am so glad that Ryan got a top 5 start and finished in the top 5 !!!! Way to go !!! Keep up the good work Alltel team !!!
Well I didn't see Michael's crash didn't even hear it because being on pit row you don't really hear anything except the roar of the car qualifying all I knew is that all of a sudden it seemed like everything stopped...all of the nascar officials had a grim look on their face & then they told us what had happened....sadly my son called me telling me "how cool of a wreck it was flipping 10x's or so" but what can you expect from a young kid ....I am SO GLAD he is ok....when the car passed in front of us coming back to the garage....all of the Goodyear guys came out to see what it looked like and everyone "gasp-ed" it is truly incredible how much safer Nascar has made these COT cars!!! Hats off to Nascar !!!
Congrats to Ryan & all of the crew for getting the POLE !!!! Good luck at Phoenix!!!

Congratulations on the board election. It is great to see Ryan on the pole again. Good luck to the team this weekend.
It was awesome last Sunday for him to hang on for a 4th place finish. It is amazing what an eigth of an inch costs! Ryan will bounce back!
Any wreck that involves slamming into the wall, rolling, or fire is scary. Not to mention the amount of pain the driver would experience.
I live 3 miles from a local dirt track and I agree that Saturday night racing under the lights is the best.
Okay, I have to do it: Lady Vols, repeat national champions, 8 total! This has been a good week!

Congrats to the #12 team for getting the pole for Phoenix!! It is always great when I can brag to my family that my driver is #1..our family gatherings are always very fun cuz we all have different divers and we always argue about who is better and who is going to win that week!!Hopefully we will see the 12 car in victory lane under the lights tomorrow night! I was sad 2 learn that they were docked 25 points and that he fell to 10th in the points..but he can get them back by finishing good tomorrow night! GOOD LUCK!!

Woooooohoooooo! I'm so happy Ryan is on the pole!!! Good Luck Saturday night...
Congrats to you on becoming Secretary, we on the RNFC were so happy for you! Very proud of you and the work you both do!
Thoughts and prayers are going out to Brienne's family and friends, she will be missed, always had a smile on her face, hated so much to hear of that!
Michael's wreck was horrible, I didn't the think poor guy would ever come to a stop, then I was praying that he was alright, never so happy to see someone crawl out of a car! From the safety stand point, the car worked, from racing stand point, the race wasn't as good at Texas as usual! But I still had fun and can't wait til June and November!
Yall have a safe trip to and from the desert and Good luck, hope yall win!!! He needs a good run to get his points back!

Hey Krissy!
Just reading your blogs. They are great.
My husbands says DOGS ROLL AROUND IN THE DIRT OR OTHER NASTY STUFF TO HIDE THEIR SMELL so predators won't get their scent. He says it is a "survival instinct". The rolling around disguises there smell.
I think it is wonderful what you do for animals. My daughter's dog came from a shelter and he has been a wonderful pet. I know when she got him she paid a fee and she could take him back when he got older to be neutered.
Have a safe race weekend in Phoenix.

Congratulations to you on the election! I'm sure you'll do a wonderful job, and they are very lucky to have you.
Mike's crash at TX was so scary. Makes my stomach flip everytime I see it. I'm so happy he was okay.
It was a great finish for Ryan and Crew at Texas!
Looking forward to some night racing! Was so excited to see Ryan on the Pole! Good luck tonight. Hope we'll be seeing you all in Victory Lane! :-)

I just wanted to let you know that I admire all you do to help promote the importance of spaying and neutering. Years ago, when I first became a Ryan Newman fan, I chose him as my driver because he seemed sincere and genuine. Little did I know that he would be getting involved in such an important cause to me and many others. What you and Ryan are doing to help our overpopulation of stray animals is remarkable. I have been a veterinary technician in Aiken,SC for the past 7 years and you have inspired my mission of spaying and neutering. I have put together numerous contest and special events to help people in our community have their pet spayed or neutered for free by one of our veterinarians. You gave me the idea and the drive to make this my mission at work. Each time that I teach a client the importance of spaying and neutering I think of you!
I really just wanted to say thank you for what you believe in and all you and Ryan do to help our innocent, furry friends.

Drat the power Steering Line Break.
Not sure from what they were saying on TV if it was the box, like the 18 had in Bristol and the 11 did in Atlanta, or if the line broke loose, but whatever it was, it was a shame.
Hope you can fill us in better than the TV crew did.
At least he is still in the top 12 in spite of his bad luck and the bogus penalty last week.
Tell Ryan to keep his chin up cause he is definitely wheeling the car well.
