Truex Team Dominates Pit Crew Challange

Jeff Burton's pit crew won the 2009 Pit Crew Challenge with an exceptional performance last night in Charlotte.  Those guys started the night out strong and got better with each of the five rounds.  That was one extraordinary display of intensity and conditioning.

Not only did they win the team competition, but they set a new event record of 22.11 seconds!  That's a very impressive mark that I predict will stand for many years.

Congratulations to the whole team and coach Matt Clark!

Although a costly penalty knocked our Bass Pro Shops team out in the second round of team competition, our guys won four of the five individual events.  The rear changer/carrier award went to Kyle Busch's guys.

A single team winning four out of five individual events is also an impressive accomplishment that will stand for many years.

Our Bass Pro Shops team is coached by legendary pit crew trainer, Walt Smith.

This is the second year Jeff Kerr has taken home the $10,000 check for the jackman event. 

This year, Jeff has pledged to donate his winnings to a kid in his church who was ran over by a lawnmower leaving his family struggling to cover all the medical bills.

Way to go Jeff! 

Being a champion on pit road is indeed a defining accomplishment, but being a leader in your community is the accomplishment of a champion.
