BRISTOL Weekend
By: Dennis Terry
A one week break in the NASCAR schedule feels like a six week vacation in the real world.
I’ve said that many times in past blogs and still today, it rings truer than ever.
Most of us who are NASCAR pit crew members practice and workout three and four days during the week and dedicate our weekends to racing.
As for me, I have a 2010 schedule that consists of sixty Cup and Nationwide races which make time management seem like almost like an afterthought most days.
Just one weekend off to sleep late and be lazy is the perfect reenergizer!
Now we are off to Bristol for what I expect be the best race weekend of the season up to this point.
Considering how great the Daytona 500 finish was along with the California Nationwide race finish and the Edwards/Keselowski antics in Atlanta, I’m really putting a lot of faith in Bristol.
I’ll be working both the Nationwide and Cup races in Bristol.
Our #7 JR Motorsports team will be racing on Saturday with Scott Wimmer driving and our Marcos Ambrose #47 Cup team will have Little Debbie on the hood for first time this season.
Another driver that I’ll be keeping my eye on during Saturday’s Nationwide race is Coleman Pressley.
Coleman is the son of NASCAR great Robert Pressley. I changed rear tires for Robert during the 2001 Cup season and while Robert was getting his tires changed on pit road, Coleman was getting his diaper changed on the pit box!!!
Now Coleman is one of NASCAR’s most watched rising talents.
Coleman also drives the pit practice car for our 7:00 am pit practices at JTG. So, he is paying his dues which I like to see especially since so few “up & comers” work their way up these days.
Bristol never ceases to be both exciting and devastating at the same time. This weekend will be no different.
If I was dreaming up a script for the Bristol Cup race I would have Keselowski winning the race by giving Edwards the ol’ Earnhardt “I just wanted to rattle his cage” bump on the final lap!

Anytime I see the kids that worked their way up, I am an immediate fan. Trevor Bayne is one of my favorites right now. I really like that boy.
Wimmer....damn. I have't thought of Scott in a long time. Good luck to you guys! The equipment is there for sure, and you guys are really in sinc on p.r. for that team
I love the Bristol races. I like to see the raw emotions from the drivers, the crew, the cc's, the wives...all of it. LOVE ME SOME BRISTOL!

I saw that name on the Nationwide results on Jayski and wondered if that was Robert's son. One of my favorite Bristol memories is when Robert was going for the win in the Kingsford car and got wrecked by former pinball Buckshot Jones, who was a lap down, and the car caught fire. My cousin turned to me, laughing - after we realized Robert was okay- and said, "Now THERE's truth in advertising!!!" Making it even funnier, Pressley got out and said, "Now I know why everyone calls Buckshot Jones an idiot!"

I can't believe how empty the stands are! I've been to the spring race a couple of times and have never seen it that empty.

JJ wins at Bristol. Hasn't he won half the races so far this season? Believe so. I smell a fivepeat. Bristol stands looked partially empty. Very unusual. Mighta been the weather thing or the healthcare debate or U of Tennessee in the March Madness tournaments. Strong chance JJ'll get another win at Marty. Unbelievable the Big Mo that team has. Reminds me of the HMS JG and RE combo in the 90s.
