Bad day!
I guess for some it was a great day and for others (Penske Racing South) it wasn't. All three of our cars ran like a bag of ****. I don't know what went wrong but we adjusted all day on our car and it got no better. The 2 car wasn't much better and the 77 had a part failure. Every time we look like we could turn the corner we have a day like this. It gets so frustrating just sitting there watching everyone on the track run circles around you. We better get our stuff right or were gonna go into Richmond like we did last year, right on the bubble of the chase. Oh well, I guess it could be worse, we could be the #8 car.
As far as the race in general went, I like seeing Tony Stewart win. I have some buddies on that team and right now there the best out there. They got all the pieces in place right now to make a good run at the championship. This week at the Glen should be interesting. Another boring road course that will feature two pit stops and lots of brake failures. I just hope were not one of them. I

I was wondering what was going on with you and Rusty, but they never said anything.
Did Ryan have damage to the nose of the car? I thought maybe I saw some, but can't be sure. If so, what was the damage from?
Hopefully the Penske boys can do better next week.

We had nose trouble later in the race but that didnt cause us to run the way we did.

I'm agreeing with Nascar_Lady!
Its upsetting for us as fans to watch a race like we saw yesterday. Especially with no clue from the announcers as to why Ryan was falling back so fast. I can't imagine the frustration the crew felt. Its good to know that the team isn't giving up during a bad race - keep adjusting and you're bound to hit on something incredible! Obviously, yesterday's new car has some bugs to work through before it becomes the next "Viper" or "Monster".
We're behind you guys and the 12 team fans aren't giving up on a run at the championship just yet!!

Boring road course? The road courses are some of the best racing of the year! When we talk boring let's talk Pocono, Michigan, Kansas, Chicago, California (although the spring race was cool - AT THE END!). I love seeing the cup cars bounce of the rumple strips and weave through the chicanes at Sonoma and Watkins Glen. I wish they would add at least one more road course. Sorry about Ryan this weekend. Man, I can't beleive how his season is going so far. Is it the new Charger? It's not him or Borland so what is the key difference between this year and the past two seasons?

TOny, road courses are the most boring of Nascar events and right up there with Poconap! The racing is seldom interesting...passing non-existant with no chance to adjust the machine...

If ya'll would have listend to the TV they said that the 12 car was tight, so they did mention the problem. The Glen I'm sure is boring to the crews, but as a fan I like it and the 12 team has had some decent finishes there, so they can rebound.

I hate that Ryan had such a bad day. I really thought he would have done better. Anyway He'll be fine at the Glen. He finished 2nd there a couple of years ago. He should get a top 5.

I hate it for you guys, I know you want it so bad. Over all so far I haven't been impressed with NBC's coverage, I was at a party yesterday so I kept checking in on the race to keep up, I waited for 15 minuntes for them to show the running order, while they just sat there starring at the 8 car on the wrecker. Although I don't care for them much, I did think it was cool that Chad Knaus ran to the car to rip Jimmy out, I think that says something about team. Good luck at the Glen, I know Ryan can do it, you'll be in victory lane sooner than you think.

In my opinion Fox is the new ESPN and NBC is the new TBS for NASCAR. Any of who remember TBS race coverage will agree...they'd miss incidents and get off on sidenotes away from the race just like NBC.
I all of a sudden saw Stewart lap the 12 and thought hey what's going on with them? The TV didn't even mention it...lol. I saw it why couldnt they?
On to the boring last road race of the year. They should have built up Nazereth and dumped Watkins Glen and moved over there.
Better luck soon 12 guys!

Glad to see the previous comments as we were watching the race....but did not know what was up with the 12. Did he get the rf damage in the 10car spin or was it on pit road? Were you working on the car and lose a lap, or speed on pitr. or what? Shake it off Trent. Hey, the road racin' is a part of the puzzle so put it together. To TOny, I believe the most obvious difference is TIRES,Tires & tires....Trent, who is your favorite for the 2 car?

Hey, just so you know, I am a HUGE Dale Jr. fan. As bad as yesterday was, and it was really bad, I too was upset and wondering what happened to Ryan and the #12 car. The announcers never mentioned why they were losing laps. I did remember that Trent post on "That's Racin'" and came here for the answer. Thanks.

'Oh well, I guess it could be worse, we could be the #8 car.'
Ouch!

The 12 cars lack of "tv time" is just getting worse. Its been bad all year, if hes having problems or what not they almost never tell you whats going on. They will give you 20 second updates on the 8 and the 24 even after they are done for the day but other then the one time they mentioned the 12 was "a little tight" they never gave any info on him.
As a new fan just starting to understand the sport its confusing as hell to see him dropping back and back with little to no mention as to why. Like someone else pointed out, when he got lapped they never even mentioned it!
I swear, ryan could stop in the middle of the track and start doing donuts to get attention and they STILL wouldnt say boo about him.

Well, I for one, and thankfull I have trackpass...I do get to hear what's going on especially with the lack of coverage they're giving the 12 team. But like I keep saying, they can keep ignoring Ryan on race days, but they will be kicking themselves in the rear when they can only talk about our new CHAMPION!!!!
Trent...take it easy...you're still solidly in the top 10... take a breath and move on to next week. That car was a piece of crap...others have had their own ideas of what to do with it. LOL
Posted by: Toni | Aug 8, 2005 9:08:54 PM
Sad to say, but when you run like crap all day, you don't deserve a comment from the TV guys (unless you are the do-no-wrong #8 team).
Hey, let me be the only one to speak this heresy here -- but the #12 is looking more and more like a one-trick pony. Let's not kid ourselves... screw qualifying, we need some wins.

Sorry about the race on sunday:{ I was at a birthday party and thought it would be on the radio but no such luck! Well guess I didn't miss much!! ALLTEL TEAM KEEP YOUR HEADS UP your LUCK IT ABOUT TO CHANGE!!!!!
Posted by: roots4Ryan | Aug 8, 2005 10:53:56 PM
Anyone stop to think that they don't mention the 12 car because they are sponsored by Alltel and this is the Nextel Cup? It is all about money these days unfortunately, not talent.

Any idea what Rusty's problem was at the beginning? I was at the race and had absolutely no idea why he was in the pits so much during the first couple of caution periods. Next year, I'm buying a scanner!!!
