Newmans the man
I'm not gonna lie, when we got passed with a few laps to go I sat back down and thought, well second ain't bad. Next thing I know I here our spotter say outside outside. I was thinking, shit, were gonna end up third. I look up at the crowd and there going crazy. Then I see Newman come out of turn four with the lead. I should know by now that he is capable of doing something like that but I figured with Tony being the one that passed him he would have a hard time getting by. I think highly of Tony as a driver and figure he is one of the hardest guy to pass and Newman did it. It was a great win for the team and puts us out to a good start with 9 race left to go. Finally we got some momentum heading into a race and Dover is a place we can run good at. The next nine weeks could get very interesting.

Congrats to the whole 12 team!!
You guys really deserved this win!...It was a long time comin'...Ryan's pass at the end was incredible...fast pit stops today by the crew and great calls by Matt Borland!...It was the perfect way to start the Chase, loved the points pick up.
Good luck this weekend at Dover!

WTG TO EVERYONE ON THE TEAM... A MUCH DESERVED AND NEEDED WIN!!!!!

Great Job! That was a great battle between Stewart and Newman. They both were aggressive, but clean. Despite their run-ins in the past, it was good to see them race each other like that.
I was like Trent, when Stewart passed him, I thought it was over, but Newman put the pressure back on Tony and was able to finally breakthru. Great race!
How about Kurt Busch trying to break bad with Scott Riggs crew chief.

Trent, the whole 12 team needs to be congratulated and what a great race! Ryan ran a hard clean race with Tony and both of em really drove a great race.
I guess all the Ryan Newman naysayers will be on here before long to say how he cheated or got lucky or whatever. BUT they have to live with the fact that when it counted, he outran , out drove and YOU GUYS out performed the 20 group.
Hats off and let's start a STRING of wins for the 12 car. I REALLY want that car in the #1 spot after homestead!

Trent,
Congratulations. I really enjoy your column on here weekly and while I'm a diehard 20 fan, you guys did an excellent job. If it wasn't going to be Tony I'm glad it was you guys ( & not Roush of course)

Newman fan: "I guess all the Ryan Newman naysayers will be on here before long to say how he cheated or got lucky or whatever."
No, that's not true. It was a great performance by both drivers. And the fact that 7 of the top eight finishers were Chase drivers validates why they are eligible.
But I will say this "Newman fan," gaining seven spots in the standings is meaningless. The #12 only gained 5 points on Stewart.
That's what counts. If he hopes to win the Cup he will have to match or come close to his 3 wins Ryan has at Dover next week.

Great job to everyone on the 12 team, you guys earned it. That was great racing and no one can argue with that. Whats even better is that despite the circus going on around you guys, Ryan proved nothing beats good clean racing. He and Tony provided a degree of sanity to what otherwise could have been a really bad day for NASCAR. Just nine to go, keep your nose clean and stay out of other guys mess and you can take the prize at Homestead. Momentum, momentum, momentum!!

What a solid performance. That was pins & needles after that green flag pitstop. Honestly wondered when R got passed if that was the best place to be. When T did not pull away, I had high hopes. Great pit stops too! I am glad they raced clean as the track would permit. T, better practice cleaning that grill....Great job.

Marc, "he only gained 5 points on Stewart". He also did something else, he got the winless problem out of the way, and he went into the turn and TOOK that race from Tony Stewart. He also helped really revitalize that team I'm sure.
He proved WHY the 12 team is in the chase, they are capable of being a threat to win every week.
He gained a HUGE amount of momentum and he gave the rest of the field something to think about.
It isn't like that team doesn't know how to get round a lot of the tracks that are coming up.
Good job 12 team!

It only takes ONE POINT!
