Add insult to injury
As if it weren't bad enough that we ran bad all day, with 5 laps to go we were the fastest car on the track by a lot. We hung around the mid 20's trying to get our car right all day and couldn't. So with about 10 laps to go we end up starting up front because we were the first car a lap down. Next thing I know Ryan's leading the pack and nobody is coming close to catching him. I guess its a good thing but I couldn't help get mad over the whole situation. Its nobodies fault its just the way things ended up. The track changed, the car changed, and most important Ryan was out front in clean air. So may bee we learned something and can take this to the next mile and half track. I guess I'm a little spoiled in the fact that we usually run so good at 1.5 half tracks and now we are struggling. I guess this is what makes the sport interesting. We ll head to Phoenix and see what happens there.

maybe next time your crew chief tells your driver to stop after he gets the pole on his first lap. Your driver is overrated.
His qualifying wreck was very Michael Waltrip-esque. is frankenstein okay after pounding the wall?

You were only fast because you had fresher tires than the others. Look who won the race, one of the cars that pitted. If you want to think your team was good than go right ahead.
Stick a fork in you guys.....YOUR DONE!!!!

Mike...you need to get out of your mom's basement. There must be SOMETHING you can do that's productive.
Posted by: jp | Nov 7, 2005 9:20:14 AM
jp,
mom's basement? Come on all you newman supporters, at least be creative and original when you're bashing of me.
It is time to face facts all ye 12 faithful. Aside from one magical season in 2003 and an unearthly ability to hold his breath during qualifying, your man is OVERRATED.
stop blaming the cars, I mena your driver has won 5 of the last 6 busch races he's entered. I think this shows penske south produces good cars.

Trent,
How upsetting is it for you to be outrun by all the guys you said were overrated?
Good call on the Mikey Waltrip qualifying- although Kyle Busch has torn down his share of walls in qualifying too.

Mike Hunt is an a$$hole.

Mike Hunt has a sick obsessive crush on Ryan Newman. I think he's in love. Why else would he constantly pick on a driver on every post. It's like the little girl at recess who keeps chasing the little boy because she likes him. Mike Hunt, it's okay, we all know you will come out of the closet one of these days, why not today.
Mike Hunt is in love with Ryan Newman.

I'm just wondering why such an old car was taken as the back up? I realize that Ryan commented it was tested at the same time as the pole-winning car, but I don't understand why a newer chassis wasn't tested? PRS-020 was an old castoff from Rusty, surely there was other options?
Good luck in Phoenix!

What a joke. Why does Roger put up with this win the pole at all costs crap? A couple of ther Dodges started in the back and they raced into the top 20, including the 43 and 45. And for a driver who always immediately comes on the radio to say "he doesn't drive like that," Newman's little aero loose trick on Mears was pathetic. Mears was leading the race at the time while Newman was a lap down. What a cheap shot. Your driver pissed this championship away.
Posted by: why | Nov 7, 2005 11:22:37 AM
Why,
Great comments. Newman is another driver from the mold of the 24, 48 or any of the Roush guys, it's always the other guys fault.
Fasce facts, newman is overrated.
19jay12- next time hit refresh to see your post instead of posting twice dumbass.

19jay12,
you should ignore mike hunt, all he wants to talk about are feces burgers, and make ignorant sexual comments
Posted by: Rick Sessions | Nov 7, 2005 11:43:26 AM
Mr. Hunt
You are right that our driver has won 5 of
the last 6 Busch Races - which proves he is
not OVERATED!
Good luck in the next two races Trent - we
can still move up a couples spots!!

mike hunt, winning 5 of the last 6 busch races he entered does not make a man overrated

Really Why,
" Newman's little aero loose trick on Mears was pathetic. Mears was leading the race at the time while Newman was a lap down. What a cheap shot."
Did you say the same thing about Casey Mears when he caused the wreck at Martinville when he was fighting for his lap back? I'm sure you did. Right? Cause afterall that would only be fair.
If you listened to all of what was said regarding the matter. Here, a piece you conviently left out. As Casey was coming to pit. He said over his radio, that he could not get in the trottle as quickly.
Common sense tells me that Casey probably did not get in the throttle fast enough, and Ryan was in the throttle. When he closed up on him. He backed off the gas and got loose. Boy, that was hard to figure out. Happens pretty often in this sport.

I'm just wondering.....
When did "Over the Wall" become "Rantville"?
:)
Posted by: Christina | Nov 7, 2005 12:10:59 PM
Dude, we're seriously talking about Mears losing a race because of Newman? Mears will never win a nextel race.
Posted by: cliff wahl | Nov 7, 2005 12:32:16 PM
Ann,
"I knew I was taking the air off the 41, but that’s racing. I wanted my lap back. My car did not touch any other car from my end of it all day, so I don’t think anybody has any right to be mad at me.”
http://www.race2win.net/wc/05/race/tms2/dpr.html
Even though his car "did not touch any other car," Newman knew what he was doing. Like he said, he wanted his lap back, even if it caused problems for the leader.
LMAO...keep drinking the kool aid!

Everyone hates on Mike H. but the points he makes during his posts are valid. People just don't read through it and get the nuts and bolts of it. Speaking of nuts and bolts, refering to Mike's first question, yes, frankenstein is ok after that crash. They just brought him back to the trailer and fixed him back up with a couple of screws.
Janelle, that is the fault of the crew chief. Not having a back-up that is capable of at least getting up to the top 15 is a joke, especially when you started the day 100 points out of the top spot in the chase. Usually nowadays the back-up car is as good as the primary. Look at Biffle in the first Texas race: a win from the back, with a back-up car.
Why has a great point about the poles too. As a driver you know if a lap is good or not. Instead of keeping your foot in the gas and trying to win a pole and wrecking your primary car why don't you shut it down and take a top 10 starting spot. Look at the results of the race, of the top 10 qualifiers on 3 finished inside the top 10. Three of the top 11 came from 30th or worse including 2 of the top 4. Hope that flag you got for the Bud Pole was worth it, see you next year.

Why,
Thanks for sharing that information.
I think he's right. ANY other driver would have done the same thing. Every single one of these drivers will fight to get their lap back, and or fight to be in the position for the lucky dog.
My point to you. Was that you left out what was also said from Casey himself, for which they reiterated it while the race was going on.
You also did not answer my question regarding you're feeling about what Casey did at Martinville when he got in the way of the Leaders for the same reasons. Did you think that was pathetic too? Or is it only pathetic when Ryan does it?
I have not seen yet any other comments made by Mears regarding the matter. So I can only assume that what he said during the race is what he thought happened. If there's more out there, then I'm sure I'll read it.
My point is, None of these drivers should ever get mad at any other driver for doing to them the same exact thing they would do give the same circumstances.
Casey got in the way of the Leaders fighting for position at Martinsville, and Ryan got in his way at Texas.
By the way.....Before anyone thinks I have anything against Casey Mears. Let me just say now that I DON'T. Casey is actually one of my favorite drivers.

Truth hurts doesn't it M. Hunt? Everyone knows the truth behind your Newman bashing. I bet you have posters of Ryan all over your wall.
Mike,
There is a reason why people dislike Hunt. People would take his posts more seriously if he could carry on an adult conversation but no one wants to hold a conversation with someone who acts like they're in junior high.
Posted by: 19Jay12 | Nov 7, 2005 1:02:40 PM
19Jay12,
How are your comments any less childish than Mike Hunt's?
Posted by: Todd | Nov 7, 2005 1:06:27 PM
Why,
Thanks again for posting the article you did. Doesn't sound like Casey gave it a second thought.
Sounds like Casey was more upset with NASCAR......"I didn’t see any debris, but I guess they’ve got to make it exciting. It cost us the race because I thought we’d go by those guys if it had stayed green."
If Casey is not thinking about it. Then why are you so worried about it? and why are you just trying to stir things up about something he is not even thinking about? Isn't he the one that matters.
Posted by: Ann | Nov 7, 2005 1:09:42 PM
Trent...
I hear ya....I didn't hear why ya'll crashed into the wall...What happened? What broke?
Posted by: Jen S | Nov 7, 2005 1:34:46 PM
Todd,
obviously you don't read much of this blog. Ask almost anyone and they'll tell you how they feel about M. Hunt. go back and read some of his comments of some of Trent's previous blog entries and you'll see what I'm talking about. My comments weren't meant to offend you or anyone else except M. Hunt. I guess I can see how they can be considered childish.
