The bigger weapon (Kyle Bush or Jammie Mcmurray)
All in all it was a good day for us. The car ran good, the pit stops were awesome, and the finish was nothing to hang our heads about. So I'm not going to give a race recap and bore everyone. All I want to know is who is the bigger weapon, Kyle Bush or Jammie McMurray. These two cats were all over the place Sunday and even three days before at the 150's. I think Kyle is just young and dumb and I think Mcmurray cant control the car he has. It was only a matter of time until McMurray wrecked someone and I hate it had to be our teammate. It was painful to watch because you just knew he was going to take some one out. Oh well, at least he took himself out of the race as well. That's all I got. Holla back.

Ya might want to include Tony Stewart in your arsenal of weapons!!!
Posted by: Go Hendrick | Feb 20, 2006 7:54:32 PM
Yep, that's what I was thinking, Tony was pretty wild out there.... totally out of control and HE KNOWS better and CAN CONTROL his car.....
But since he wasn't one of our choices... I'm not sure..... Kyle is young and needs to settle down a whole lot!!! Jamie, hum? Not quite sure what was going on with him...
During the race, when they interviewed Kurt, when he looked up on the monitor and saw the 26 going into the wall....his comment was...."Aww, that's too bad"... Was priceless!!!! I think people kinda maybe expect it from Kyle, but don't think they were expecting Jamie to be like he is???

100% McMurray, I watched him almost lose it several times in the shootout, then again in the 150, and he was down right dangerous in the 500. I knew it was just a matter of time before he took himself out, just hate that he took Kurt first. Seems like was going balls to the wall to win the damn thing and gain some credibility. Funny that the 42 did so well without him.
What ever it takes, keep Ryan and Kurt working like that all year. It was a great feeling watching those cars working together all day. If the 26 didn't take Kurt out, I really think the 12 and 2 would have finished 1,2, but I know that's racin'. Just wish anyone but the 48 had won, well except the 26. Keep it up and you will have a great year!

I think that the worst one is Kyle...He has a chip on his shoulder like he has something to prove and like everyone should just move over when he gets on their bumper. He has a lot to learn.
Jamie is a talented driver that has never really had his chance in really good equipment and with team mates to help him. I am going to reserve giving my opinion on this one until he has a few more weeks to adapt to his team, his spotter, etc.

Umm...Tony Stewart hands down.
Posted by: Amanda | Feb 20, 2006 8:59:35 PM
You guys are right. I should have definately put Stewart in my list. He talked all that crap about ruff driving and how some one was going to get hurt, then goes out there and acts like an idiot. Then after all that, he still was critiqueing everyone elses driving and didnt say a word about his. And I like Stewart
Posted by: trent | Feb 20, 2006 9:03:45 PM
My List:
Stewart - Mr. "Thou shalt not drive reckless. Lest one be hurt." Became, Mr. "He started it. I finished it. Injuries be damned."
McMurray - He was a pinball all week. Yes Jamie it goes fast. It would go even faster if you hit fewer things with it.
Kyle - And actually I think Kyle was rather well behaved (for Kyle) most of the race. Maybe this peer pressure thing is working a bit.
Posted by: Keith | Feb 20, 2006 9:13:21 PM
Trent,
You hit on something towards end there. You said, "He hit our Teammate!" I think you may actually really have "Teammates" this season. The 2 and 12 seemingly tried to work together and that has to be a relief to both teams.
Posted by: Keith | Feb 20, 2006 9:23:10 PM
Hey Trent,
Kyle is a weapon. I can't understand, a chip on his shoulder. Should be just glad to be there. Heck, even Vegas wasn't built in a day. I do feel there is talent, but that is only part of the package.
Jamie, maybe he was just trying too hard. Not an excuse.
Tony, he is better than that. He is, is own worst enemy. But, if he expects respect on the track (whichhehas) he must be and drive the example. Otherwise, history will repeat and I don't mean another championship.

One question I could not find an answer to on the internet today is how did Jr. get the first pit stall?
Posted by: Brian Mc | Feb 20, 2006 10:58:25 PM
^He started 7th. I'm guessing the guys ahead of him were picking spots that were clean entrances or exits and picking ones that would be good for green flag stops.
I remember in 2004 when Jr won it, Jeff Gordon had one of the stalls down there and the last stop and most of them that day were under green. That day the field was able to get strung out more. Jeff pitted with the leaders(Stewart, Jr, Biffle, Wimmer) but under green it took longer for him to get up through the gears with that pit stall at the end and lost the draft.
That's what I'd surmise for how Jr. got the top stall...

Hey Trent, what about Jimmy Johnson? He blocked the heck out of Kurt and then forced him below the yellow line without any penalty. I thought that JJ deserved a rough driving penalty for everything he did to Kurt. Did Kurt say anything about the way JJ raced him? I already heard Ryan's comments about JJ's aggressive driving and I agree.

i guess i was watching the wrong race i seen nothing that Kyle did wrong period, as far as rough driving i called stewart would be the first to get the penality, nascar should not be the police , these are the top drivers making the big $$$, i thank they all need to shut up and race

I thank you need to go back to school and learn sentence structure.
Posted by: Mike | Feb 21, 2006 7:31:10 AM
Agree w/ Ken. JJ was as dangerous out there as anyone... just ask Bobby Labonte. I keep hearing all the TV idiots say Jimmy won the race "cleanly"... I'm not sure they were watching close enough. Just because the guy doesn't flat-out cause the big one for the 3rd time in a row, doesn't mean he ran a clean race.
Anyone else think JJ was careless and eratic out there?
Posted by: Hemi | Feb 21, 2006 7:32:00 AM
Trent,
You asked who has the bigger aresenal? Well I think Kyle knows what he's doing but just doesn't care, Jamie on the otherhand does not.
After seeing the shootout, duals and finally the 500 I think McMurray may have more car than he can handle. Kyle being the cocky brash brat can turn it around by finally cleaning his ears and listening (which I doubt he will do anytime soon).
BTW it was great finally seeing teammates in the 12 and 2 working together.

Kyle by far. That young POS has such a sense of self entitlement it makes me want to puke. He is a mdiocre to decent driver at best who has the BEST equipment in the sport, hence why he runs well...but he is a DANGER at the RP tracks. In his interview he even said, "I hate this place" WHAT KIND OF RACER SAYS THEY HATE DAYTONA!!!!! Speaks volumes of the ugly boy's (I cannot bring myself to call him a pretty boy..as he looks like he has down syndrome) mettle and attitude.
Posted by: Mike | Feb 21, 2006 8:25:07 AM
Tony drove like Shane Hmiel...
Posted by: smoothbore | Feb 21, 2006 8:50:53 AM
Are u kidding me??? Ugly hair and ugly ears were dangerous??? The way stewfart drove you would thing that his sponsor is some tow truck company and not a home improvement store.

Hey trent,
did you read where Jimmie Johnson said "I think he (Newman) is jealous he doesn't have a crew chief in there working as hard as I do to make his cars as good,"
Okay, Newman has a crew chief that works hard and within the rules. And his dedicating his win to all of the haters of the #48? JJ just doesn't get it. He's gaining on Kurt Busch as the most hated guy in the garage.
I agree about Kyle Busch and McMurray. The funny thing is the both Kurt Busch and Casey Mears outperformed McMurray, who was supposed to be the silly season beneficiary.
Posted by: 19jay12 | Feb 21, 2006 10:01:24 AM
Kyle Busch by FAR is worse than McMurray. Give Jamie about 5-6 races to get used to his new car, then he'll be okay. I'm not saying that he wasn't acting stupid and racing very dangerously, but I honestly think he's just not used to that car. It's probably so much more powerful than what he was used to at Ganassi. He'll get it under control, but I do have to wonder how many people he's going to take out before he gets control.
Kyle Busch is just a non-driving idiot. Plain and simple.
Posted by: Christina | Feb 21, 2006 10:04:44 AM
I have to say Kyle Busch by far. I thought when he first came on the scene he was going to be better (as far as attitude) than his brother, but they're both 2 peas in a pod.
I also agree with a few others that have said that McMurray probably had more car than he can handle. Hopefully he'll come around soon.
Tony Stewart was being Tony Stewart, and that's not saying a whole lot. The guy has tremendous talent, but anger issues.

Trent*
I'd say that Stewart was the biggest weapon on Sunday. He knows what to do and how to do it and chose to drive aggresively for whatever reason. It started with the tangle between him and J.Gordon. It was very early in the race. He couldn't have let Jeff up in front of him?? Jeff admitted that his car was tight and slid up the track, but Tony didn't have to push the issue so hard in the early goings like he did. I don't know what his deal was with Kenseth. That was about as blatent as it gets. I'm still surprised that all he got was sent to back of the field.
Kyle Busch is just young. I think another year in the sport and he won't be pulling the same stuff. McMurray did seem like a pinball out there as someone else said. I think he'll be fine once he gets adjusted to his new team and equipment. Mears sure did a good job in that #42 though...kinda funny IMO.
Now that that's all been said...IMO, that wasn't one the best Daytona 500's I've ever seen. Couldn't someone wipe the mist off the camera lenses? I felt like I was coming down with glaucoma everytime I looked at the TV. I'm glad FOX is taking over this weekend too. I'm extremely happy that NBC is out after this year. Their coverage was horrible. Listening to Bill Weber in one word...."Annoying". I'm warming up to Wally, but he's lowering his own value by being in the booth with Weber.
Ok, I'm done now. Congrats on the 3rd place finish! Good luck in Cali!

If the question is who is the most out of control, it has to be McMurray."Jamie go out there and hit the pace car","you want me to hit the pace car","You hit everything else out there and I want you to be perfect".(see watching TNT late at night does pay off).As far as Shrub goes he is just young dumb and full of cum, as well as coming from a shop where arrogance is served up like free drinks in Vegas.
As far as Stewart goes,it was nice to see a little of the old Tony,I kind of missed him.He might be pissed, but don't make the mistake of assuming that he is not in control of his car, Tony is always in control of his car.
I would like to dedicate this post and all my future posts "to all the #48 haters out there".

Trent,
You’re right! Nothing to hang your heads about. Great race for the entire team. It’s the best finish Team Alltel has ever had at Daytona. Certainly not a shabby way to start the season.
Jamie M., WOW! He was like a crazy man all week. I admit I’m not a big fan of Jamie’s to begin with. But,……. I really hope for his sake (because I would never want to see him hurt) as well as those around him he gets control of his new cars sooner rather than later. Like you, I saw an accident waiting to happen. My heart sank when it was Kurt he took out. Both teams were running great races, and working soooo well together. It was a great site to see.
Klye, He was definitely another one to watch. I admit that I did cringe a few times when I saw him near Ryan and Kurt. But….then…. (and I’m sure I’ll catch hell for this) as I really started to watch him (especially running with Ryan and Kurt), he was doing much better than he did earlier in the week. I don’t know, and I can certainly be wrong (have been before. Will be again. Lol, lol, lol) Maybe it was just because he was drafting with Kurt & Ryan. I don’t know. But, IMO, he did better.
For Me though……TONY wins the prize for biggest blockhead of the day! Don’t get me wrong. I like Tony, and he is extremely talented. IMO, he did not show that talent on Sunday. After ALL of the PREACHING he did about safety this past week. IMO, he did nothing but show extreme lack of control, temper, and sportsmanship. He disregarded everything he said earlier in the week. He had total lack of respect for a fellow driver. Definitely not the behavior our current Nextel Champion should have displayed. How the hell would he have felt if Matt K got hurt?
I am certainly not naïve about these things. I know that ALL drivers have their moments from time to time. But for goodness sakes! “Practice what you Preach” Tony. Someone could have seriously been injured.
You think if I/We scream it loud enough, Tony might hear me/us?????
Off to California. Good luck to you all!
