Funny story from Texas
Before every race our team like to throw the football and just hang out. Occasionally some of the drivers and other crew members will come over and throw with us. It s a good way to just relax and warm up before a race. So a couple of weeks ago at Texas we were throwing the football and this guy walks up behind me and grabs the ball. He said," let me show you how to throw this thing." So the first thing that came to my mind was, who the hell is this telling me how to throw a football. A lot of times fans will jump in the box and want to throw and you just have to play along with em until there gone. So I thought it was just a fan messing with us and didn't think anything about it. 5 throws later he was still there, the only difference this time was the guy could really throw a football. More and more people started gathering around to watch and finally after about 10 throws this guys thanked us for letting him throw and took off. Another guy on our team came over and said that was pretty cool getting to throw football with Roger Stauback. So I turned around and looked and the team that he owns was pitting right behind us and there he was just sitting there doing an interview. About that same time, the guy I was throwing with walked over and asked who the old hag was throwing the ball to him. When he found out he just started laughing and went over to introduce himself. I guess not everyone gets to throw football with a legend so that was pretty cool.

Roger can still throw? I wonder if Dan Marino will still be able to crank one like that at that age. Good for Roger.

It was good meeting you Jen. All the guys on the team were giving me a hard time. They didnt think I had any fans, atleast I got one. Have a good holiday.

By the way Trent, any thoughts on Newman's reaction to getting spun by Montoya? That's pretty uncharacteristic of Ryan.

Hey Trent,
Glad you had such a chance meeting with Roger S. In 85'at halftime he was playing a oldtimers gag deal. We needed him to suit up as Troy had not yet arrived.
Ummm, spose Ryan went home and kicked the dogs too. Very disappointed of what went on with Montoya. How could one guy lose so much class in one season?
You have a great holiday..I mean that.

Hey, that's pretty cool Trent. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
Now Larry...have you followed up on the story. 1. Ryan said he spun on his own in the first instance. In the 2nd instance, he said he didn't hit Montoya, NOR did he retaliate. Juan got loose, and came across the front of Ryans car. Ryan said there was nothing to retaliate for, yet, he still said he felt bad about it.
Ryan's one of the more rare honest drivers, and admits his mistakes, and takes responsibilty for his actions. ie. the Casey M payback. So, I don't see why all of sudden he would be less than honest. .....his explanation of the incident was also good enough for NASCAR after the race.
Oh well. Glad 2006 is in the record books. On to 2007.

Hey Ann,
Thanks for straightn' me out. I admit that I did jump to the negative conclusion. Did not see a definitive replay. Also, did not hear Ryan's explanation. This is one time that being wrong is a good thing. Just like the team, looking for answers.
May next season give us all more to cheer about, as opposed to speculate about poor results.
Thankful for your comments. You have a safe holiday.

Hey Larry. Not a problem. Got 'ur back. lol, lol. Kinda what I thought, as you don't usually (if ever)make those comments. Somethin was amiss. lol, lol
I couldn't agree with you more on the ....."more to cheer about" lol, lol.
You have a Safe and Wonderful Holiday too!

There are a lot of things that you could say about Ryan Newman. Dishonest and trashy are NOT two of them.
He has never been a trashy driver and has never been one to be dishonest about what is going on. He is a clean racer and has always been an honest one, no matter the situation.
I have heard a few people jump on him about that deal and I just figured that there was
A. a reason he did it, or
B. It happened the way he said it did.
Going by Ryan's past history, I give him the benefit of the doubt.

Trent honey, you've got lots of fans! We came to see ya in Texas, but because of the rainy stuff, most of yall were hiding out! smile.... Brought you some candy and everything, I'm sure you didn't eat it, cause ya didn't know where it came from, but oh well! I tried!
That's pretty cool getting to throw the ball with Roger... talk about a class act, love that man!
About Ryan, only he really knows what happened, I don't know if he dumped him or not, there was really never a clear picture, as Ann said, he's NEVER had a problem admitting he did something... generally on the radio, if he's done something or going to do something, you know it.... cause he says it, loud and clear! He can be aggressive at times, but that's part of racing, he was frustrated, so again, only he knows what happened! He's still my favorite driver!

The football is gay....much like your team. Good luck next year...you'll need it. Your team looks lost.
Maybe looking at the car setup before the race would help instead of playing football. Focus on racing instead of playing football maybe Newman and your team wouldn't look like a bunch of idiots on Sundays. Save the football for Roger's Cowboys.

Hey Buub I mean Bob, I am sure you must be joking right? Or just new to Nascar? Just because they toss a football around or hit a ball does not make them idiots and the reason they've struggled this year! I think every team goes through this type of year, for instance the Boy Wonder and Junior had off years last year. By the way, Trent and his pit crew are not responsibile for the set up on the car, their job is to pit the car and do it proficiently to put Ryan in the best position they can. Lay off and learn a little about the sport or team before you sling mud! Trent keep up the good work and hopefully things will turn around next year. I hope Ryan has a great '07 along with the 43. Also, good luck to DT over at JGR, you guys rock. See you in Daytona! Have a great off season!

Cool story, Trent!
You have a good off-season, however much of it you may get.

Apparently not everyone can spell "Staubach", either. ;)

You know the media isn't "Ryan friendly" and their coverage of when stuff happens "TO" Ryan normally goes unnoticed, but when Ryan is anywhere near something that happens it seems that they jump to point out that the 12 car was near without even knowing what happened. I wish we could get some talent in there. Kyle Petty sure does one heck of a job in the Busch race.
Trent, You, Matt, Ryan and rest of the 12 team have carried yourselves very well in not only your worst season but in the mist of allot of stuff that has been undeserving. Kudos to all of you for holding your heads up high. Remember that a man's character can be best measured through tough times and you guys there on the 12 team have shown how awesome you all really are. Good luck in 2007....
As Darlene mentioned, several of us from here as well as RNFC were at TMS... Did you guys get your gift bag with the "12 Team" photo album and cards...???
Here's wishing each of you a Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Years. (please pass that onto Matt too for us)
Can't wait for April (TMS) and hopefully we'll see you there...

Hey Ann,
At least the 43 car made a respectable run. Now with Billy Wilburn cfn' for Bobby, maybe even more good things to happen! The 43 in victory lane in 07!!
I got the better part of the wishbone. lol
