Short week

We ran, we wrecked, we sucked, what more do you want me to say.  I Guess thats what I get for talking crap about Dannica.  I was at the steak and shake before the half way point in the race.  At least the food was good.  Maybe this week I'll have something better to talk about.  As far as the Tony and Havick thing goes, I think Harvick is right.  Tony cries when someone races him hard, but when he does it, its OK.  The only thing wrong with Harvicks quote was that Tony didn't really do anything.  He raced him pretty good I thought.  Either way that's my take.  Holla back

The Alltel 12 was "gone in sixty seconds" as we have seen before but getting the boot from the 40 didn't help! You have heard this a million times I know.

Tony is a Nascar super star but his ego may go into over-drive on occasion. Nascar fans thrive on controversy and that's what Stewart provides. I can tolerate him I guess so he can do what ever he wants!

Would love to see Team 12 somehow have a good race at Pocono Trent? All you can do is your part I understand! Good luck this coming Sunday!

Tony's complaints are usually about stuff that goes on in the early or middle stages of the race. Even he's acknowledged that anything goes those last 20 laps or so when you're going for the win.

Tony said in the post race press conference that he made a mistake and that's why he got into Harvick. Like Tony said. He could have damaged his own car as much as Harvick's so it doesn't do Tony any good to intentionally run into Harvick. If it was Bristol where aero doesn't matter then it would be different but even Tony knows that it isn't worth it to slam Harvick at a place that's so aero dependant as Indy.

I hope you get to make up those lost hours with some extra time posing for pictures in various hats this week.

I think that both fans and fellow drivers have concluded that since Tony blows so much hot air at various times that they shouldn't put too much weight on what he says. :D

No one takes anything Tony says serious anymore.

It was my fault Ryan wrecked. See, for four weeks in a row, whomever I pick in my fantasy racing league wrecks. I wrecked the #48 and #40 last week, and #17 and #83 before that. Good drivers, good cars...mangled. As a matter of fact the #12 was running good this past weekend, as were my other 3 picks. I was checking out Nascar.com's RaceView and said to my wife, "They (my picks) should be safe this week. I'm not really watching the race. I'm playing with RaceView. Less than 5 seconds later the 12 car gets loose and the day is over. I say, "Crap. Not again.". A few laps later my other pick (#96) is taken out. True story. It happens every week. So... please accept my apologies. Newman's my driver..so I won't pick him until this curse has passed....But who do you want me to pick instead }:)

With 20 laps to go, Harvick would've done the same thing Tony did if he had the faster car. They touched but no one wrecked - it was pretty good racing.

Trailer Wreckers, pick Jr.

Trent, we feel your pain. Let's all just keep good thoughts for this weekend. Ryan and the #12 team is due some good luck. It started at Indy with Jr. and McMurray's DNFs. But, I'm talking victory lane kind of good luck.

Hey Trent,

Pick it up.

Posted by: Larry | Aug 2, 2007 4:44:23 PM

ryan won't be back next year

Posted by: exile | Aug 2, 2007 7:20:58 PM

It wasn't a fun day for Newman fans Sunday, I guess those two South Bend guys wanted the same spot?? I'm still not giving up! Yall hang in there Trent, it's not over yet!Could have been alot worse, but due to others mishaps, the 12 team didn't go to far back.... it's all good!

Trent, agree with your Tony/Harvick assessment. Watched several replays - don't understand why people seem to get so riled up or even if they're watching the same race sometimes. Guys like AJ Foyt and Cale Yarborough (Bobby Knight) could never survive in todays dance. And I loved Smokes post race comment regarding the fans and all the BS they put up with. Right on!!

Question - why is Ryan the only one insisting he got bumped??

Posted by: yoduman | Aug 3, 2007 3:49:35 AM

because he did get bumped

Posted by: keith12 | Aug 3, 2007 8:06:58 AM

Trent,

How the he** did the 12 team get the setup so wrong? Engineers on this team are paid reaaallllyyyy good money to at least get the car somewhat close so the driver can put a beat on it....what happened? And why does it happen often? I don't get it. Maybe it's time Ryan looks for a team that can at least get the car close. This crap is getting old.

"Question - why is Ryan the only one insisting he got bumped??"

Since ESPN did not have a good camera angle on the whole incident. Heck... Even INC would not replay it on Monday night, because it would be pointless.
So IMO, One can only guess that media have only been speculating as to what happened.

I'm apt to believe the Driver.

Hey,

ESPN said they had 84 cameras for coverage. Maybe they need 85.

I agree with Ann.

Posted by: Larry | Aug 3, 2007 9:12:23 PM

Too funny, Larry.... lol, lol, lol.

One would think that a Channel that is all sports would do better with their coverage. Sad....really sad.

Hey again Trent,

Good job on sunday. You picked up points on the 1 car. Good Penske day.
