Some say the racing is boring?

Well I have to say it was an awesome day for the Alltel bunch.  That was a sign of things to come and things of the past.  Ryan was on the wheel all day and at the end when it counted we gained 7 spots in 10 laps.  The pit crew struggled early and got the driver in a bad situation but managed to pick up three spots when it counted and help land us a top 5.  Now, onto the penalty.  I don't know exactly what went wrong with the car but i can tell you this, we don't cheat. lol.  How many times have you heard that.  Seriously, i don't think we cheat, but then again i don't work on the car and either way we were to high going thru tech.  Now, onto the racing part of it.  It was a boring race for sure.  I have noticed that there have been some really exciting races and then there have been some dogs.  This one was a dog.  I don't see how fans can justify paying for a ticket at a high price and then seeing a race like this.  Don't get me wrong, its the fans that keep me employed, but at least we can give them a better bang for the buck.  Bristol was good, Matinsville was good.  Cali, Atlanta and Texas were boring as hell.  I hope Nascar hasn't messed up the racing with the new car.  Of course, all i can see is the front stretch so maybe its not as bad as i thought.  Well, thats about all for now. holla

I have been saying that boring is all relative. This was not the most exciting race, but I would take it any day rather than having no race.

And since my focus is usually completely on the 12 team, I did find it exiting, fearful, boring, anxious and frustrating. We watch almost 80% of the race on trackpass Raceview because we want to watch Ryan and the broadcasters rarely show him or talk about that much.

So for me rooting for Newman it was not that boring at all. (And when I say Newman, I mean the WHOLE TEAM Trent).

You guys did a great job Sunday. 4th!! BIG Congrats especially on a track that statistically speaking Newman usually does not do that great at.

Welp, I for one, thought it was pretty boring cept for the ending! Not to say that with 50 or so laps to go I wasn't on my feet yelling everytime the 12 car came by! Even amoungest all the Jr. fans, I was standing up yelling when Ryan pasted him! Ryan was passing cars and getting it done and yes, Trent, yall did come through when it counted!!! Great job to the whole Alltel Team!

Speaking of boring, I sit on the 5th row, I love it down lower, there are these four people who sit directly below us on the FIRST row, well, three of them got up to get food and left Mamma there alone, on the first row, with cars screaming by all loud and everything, when the others came back with food, the fence wheel guy, goes, shhhhhhhh! Little Miss Grannie was asleep!!! So it was obviously boring to her!

But as RNF said, beats no race at all!!!!

Good Luck to yall, go kick some butt in the Valley of the Sun!!!!

The race sucked, as have most to date. It's that "turtle" looking thing on four wheels that's at the center of the mess. The way it is right now, I rather watch/attend an IRL race.

Why didn't Ryan start behind the lead lap cars when he got the lucky dog? I was looking for him to be in 11th, and then I saw him way back w/ the care that were laps down. Just wondering.

Lets all take a moment and say a prayer for Briene's family and friends. She always wore a smile in the garage.

I'm glad you agree with me that this race was a snoozer!!! Not your fault or any team member.

Nice finish Team 12 but you made a boo boo, old news by now!

I'm going to watch Ryan Newman as long as he is a driver in Cup but, I would like to see him win a Championship for Roger. The dudes getting old as dirt!

Keep on racing Trent, all of us will always be there with good/bad commentary. Only you guys realy know what's going on anyway

Daytona was the only good race so far this year. There was some decent racing in spots at Fontana and Martinsville, but all the others were a joke. Bristol was the worst because the hype made it out to be a great track when it is the worst the sport goes to.

NASCAR has made it worse with this COT - the aeropush is worse now than before and the more teams run it the worse the racing gets. And it became clear in 2006 testing that the COT was not going to work.

It was NOT boring!! I was scoring for another car, but guess who I kept watching?
I am soooo very proud of the entire team!!!
Keep it up guys! Hope to be there when you hit Victory Lane again! Please tell Ben Brown that the giggling fan said hello!!!

I think Nascar is so committed to the new car that they have to go with it wether they really think its better or not. Its not like a rule and they can just change it back. Teams have millions of dollars invested in these new cars and its an all or nothing situation.

But I think the main purpose of the car was to make the guys safer, seems it is a safe car, specially after Friday cause that was a wicked wreck.....

Maybe by next year, teams will have figured it out, bugs will be worked out and racing will be back to normal! Hopefully anyway! Just need to do like Richard Petty said, get rid of some of those rules and let the boys race!

I'd really like to see more variety in tracks. I really get tired of the intermediate D shaped ovals.

However, it was mentioned above about using Trackpass. Yes, yes, yes! That really keeps my interest. I love to hear the strategizing going on. Without Trackpass, you don't know what's happening.

And by the way Trent...Roy, Greg and Ryan really have the communication going this season. Wow what a difference. I'm really liking Roy. And Greg's been in a better mood too. Hahaha.

Trent, they CAN change it back! I don't get why people think there's no going back to the old car. That teams have invested millions of dollars into this farce just makes the farce all the worse.

Darlene, that wreck with McDowell was ugly, but in terms of the COT's safety ability, it was unremarkable after spending 20-plus years seeing wrecks like Dave Marcis at Pocono, Jeff Green at New Hampshire, John Andretti at Pocono, Todd Bodine at Talladega, Steve Grissom at Atlanta.....

And why should anyone think teams will make a better racecar out of the COT when the fundamental design won't allow it? To make a better racecar the roofline has to be chopped; the nose lengthened; the airdam made a flush piece; the wing replaced with a 7.5-inch spoiler; and you want increased drag, bolt a spoiler on the roof.

NASCAR has made the Sprint series is now the IROC series.

Everything is the same and noone can do any different or get fined.

I read an article in the Dallas paper today, where Eddie Gossage said he had been swarmed with emails about the boring race Sunday..... And he was going to get with Nascar and talk about it, not that it will do any good, I'm sure, but obviously lot's of folks were un-happy!

Posted by: Darlene | Apr 10, 2008 9:58:56 PM

Trent,

I'm not sure why you Newman fans thought Sunday was boring. He had his time in the spotlight and so did many other drivers. Disappointing, maybe, but, hey, "That's Racin'." It was one of the most enjoyable races of the season.

Trent, you, the team, and the driver, did a great job. Things happen.
