No love for the Busch boys
I found the end of the race hard to watch for our team. We had a certain strategy we were going for and it didn't end up the way we were hoping for. The good news is that our teammate won the race with better strategy and luck than we had. When the rain finally came and the race was called the crowd went crazy but in a different way. It is very obvious that the Busch boys are the most hated drivers in the garage, by far. At least in the past few years you had a hand full of drivers that got booed. Now that Jr. and Gordon are teammates i think all the attention has turned on the Busch family. I think there easy to hate and they haven't done much to help the situation. Matter of fact i think they like the fact that they are the bad boys and everyone likes to see them do bad. The problem with all that is both Kyle and Kurt can drive. You give em the equipment and they can win races. It will be interesting to see what happens if Kyle takes down the golden boys of Hendricks. Either way its pretty funny listening to the pre race intros and all the boes these two guys get. What ever makes the fans happy i guess.

Kurt's come along better over the years, Kyle on the other hand seems like a punk and keeps ruining all the races by winning. They earned their bad rep but Kurts been a hell of a teammate this year.

Add Montoya to your title. He gets a substantial % of the boos as well.
I am no fan of these guys so the less I say the better.
You call them 'Bad boys', but it's funny that there is nothing intimidating about them in terms of demeanor. Well unless they are using their cars as weapon, but besides that, they just strike me as a bunch of nerds.
Trent, do the Busch Bros actually have good personalities?
You've been in contact with them.
For the entire season I wondered what happened to Kurt. He has been so insignificant and he lost his personality becoming a Penske clone.
Congrats to him on his lucky win. He has had a rough season.
What's wrong with the 12 CC? He is totally blowing the races by following what the leader is doing and not taking chances.
The 12 team would have won the Allstar race, Loudon, and Sonoma if the CC did a better job at making the right confident pit calls. I've been making calls from my couch that would have got the job done. But I cannot blame him, that's racing.
There has been lots of rumors about Stewart/Newman team mate rumors. One of the millions of good things that could come out of this partnership is that both Ryan and Tony will be shaving off the 'Busches'(both Kyle and Kurt)
Now that's a good thing for most Stewart and Newman fans everywhere.

I think Kurt has been a great teammate to Ryan. In fact I think hes been better to Ryan then Ryan has been to him but the point being that Kurt has been fine at penske.
I actually like both of brothers. They can both be pr#cks at the track but man kyle is a lot of fun to watch.

^ I do not know how you can say that.
Yes Kurt helped Ryan win the 500. But last year when Kurt was in the chase I remember Ryan running experimental set ups and helping Busch in the championship run. Remember that spin by Newman at Homestead. It came very conveniently when Kurt was about to go a lap down. Kurt was on the verge of falling to 11th in points but the spin saved him. He bounced back to 7th.
Go back to Daytona the 400 race last year. On the last lap, Ryan while running 6th gave Kurt a good push. Ryan finished 14th and Kurt finished 3rd. He helped him to a 3rd place while hurting himself in the process.
They have helped each other a real deal hence the mutual respect.

I have mixed opinions about the Busch Boys! But Trent I did notice you congratulating Kurt after the win:) Hopefully Ryan will get a much deserved win soon. I just hope he makes a good decision about his future. Would love to see you all stick together as a team even if he leaves. Wouldn't even mind seeing Matt back. Who knows what will happen, but I will always be a Newman fan wherever he goes or stays!

I am a hugh Kurt Busch fan and have had the good fortune of getting his autograph and shaking his hand. I think people really have no clue about what ANY of the drivers are really like so it seems very unfair for people to judge them as harshly as they do. People just gotta have someone to hate - guess it makes them feel better about themselves.
Go Kurt keep those wins coming!!!!!

I didn't realize that Kurt was in the mix to be hated, not as much as Kyle that is. Maybe it's because this year Kurt seems to be in the back of the pack with Ryan and not getting that much media attention so watching on TV you don't get to see how disliked he is. Whereas Kyle being the points leader gets WAY TOO much attention. I thought Montoya spinning him under caution, dangerous and wrong as it was, was pretty awesome. Someone showing him that he won't take any crap.
Just my opinion- good luck at Daytona- get that Daytona sweep for 2008!

I think the comment that I made way back when Brian France took over NASCAR that he would be the Tony George of the IRL. It only took Tony 1/2 of a season the put the lights and interest out of the real Indy Car racing as he booted CART out. Brian France with his idiotic ideas has changed NASCAR from a racing sport to just entertainment. His COT is as big a joke as he is. If someone doesn't wake up, NASCAR racing as most people know it will be a thing of the past, just as the Indianapolis 500 is now. Thats how I see what is wrong with racing today, not necessarily the economy although that certainly adds to the lessened interest.

I totally agree with ezryder, I have said ever since idiot Brian took over, it has become nothing more then a big dollar sign for him, he is a greedy sob, I bet his dad, grand dad and Dale Sr. are turning over in there graves. You can best believe if any of them were alive, Brian would be out along with that other as_hole Mike Heldon

Hey Trent,
Somebody was gonna win that race. Glad it was a Blue car. Anyone else in the garage would have been glad to take that win.
Re, above comments. It has always been entertainment. The IRL will do just fine now, with the compromise. Brian has atm'd some cash. Well, it's his (mostly). The Bill's are all resting well.

you can hate the bush boys all you want, but them boys can drive and kyle can out drive your boy dale jr anyday of the week,it is to much ass kissing in nascar and the media,jr is a mistake of a driver
Posted by: larry | Jul 4, 2008 12:59:19 PM
Hey larry,
You are the mistake.
Wonder, could you mention any facts that would help understand the disdain for Jr.?
- disgruntled former employee?
- just jealous?
- steal your girlfriend?
Posted by: Larry | Jul 6, 2008 6:49:38 PM
Trent, I think that the rivalry is great for the sport.
I didn't like Kyle a while back, but after he was fired and Rick said it was "an Agreement", I have been pulling for him to kick all the Hendrick's butts. The fact Kyle and Jr. are now 1 and 2 has to be a dream come true for Brian France and Mike Helton.
Kurt, I could take or leave but I have never attended a race that he didn't go to his Souvenir Rig and sign for the Fans, but I was thankful to see Ryan FINALLY have a teammate, something he was deprived of when Rusty was there.
And as for Kyle, He is maturing some and probably the most talented driver in Anything I have have seen. I said as soon as the switches were announced that Kyle would win a championship before Jr. does, and I like Jr., but Kyle is just too good a wheel man to not win it in the near future. Just My opinion.

Huge bummer Ryan is going to Stewart/Haas, hard to believe he thinks that will be better equiptment than at Penske, Ryan should be after the 20 seat if "performance" is the issue, GM doesn't sound like they will be competing with Toyota's money in the future...Stremme or Mears in the 12? From Newman to nobody?Sad Day indeed.
