Is there a sleeper in the chase
As i was talking to my friend in the shop about what topic to write about an argument broke out about who I think could be the sleeper in the chase. I told him there was no sleeper in the chase and that it would be 18,99,or 48. That s pretty fair answer and i don't think anyone else has a chance in hell of winning the championship outside of those three. My friend says I'm crazy. Example A: the Giants of last years NFL season. He has a point but i don't see anyone who is capable of running any better than these three guys every weekend. Now, i do think there are drivers that can outrun each guy i picked at certain times but i don't think over a period of time that anyone could keep up with the pace. Let me know what you think and if there are any sleepers in the crowd. I ll take 18, 48, and 99 and give the field to anyone who wants it. Holla

I agree with Tiff. The 29 has been very consistent lately and if he can keep it up, he will be there. He does not wreck many cars and he is probably the best of the RCR cars right now.

Hey Trent,
Agree with Tiff. Don't know why for sure. However, if my gut was right my fantasy team would have done better.
The championship belongs to the 48 til' someone can prove otherwise. While Kyle has had a strong regular season, there is nothing to be taken for granted. Same with Carl. Last year proved the regular season just don't count for much, besides some big bucks. Remember, 30 top tens did not get a championship. wow.
Johnson, probably.
Busch, practically.
Carl, really
Harvick, the sleeper
Jr., electionyear
and
Gordon as, Dreamer.
Will we see Stremme in Cup before the season is over?

There are no sleepers. None of the RCR cars has enough muscle to outfight Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, or Jimmie Johnson. Those are the only three drivers right now with any muscle to win.

Luck could play as much a part as muscle in a 10 race sprint. A wreck at Dega and a blown engine or other part failure could be to much to overcome. Of course JJ did it but that is definitely not the norm.

I think it will take more than just top five or top ten finishes. You need to put a couple of wins in there also. I root for the 29, but I just don't think that anyone who hasn't won all year can all of a sudden put two or three wins together in a ten race span. So as good as the 99 and 48 have been lately the 18 has risen to the challenge so far this year and should continue in the chase.

Looking at the tracks in the chase and looking at how everyone has run at those tracks recently, I don't really see any sleepers. Gordon hasn't run well on the mile and a half tracks this year, Burton is fading the way he did last year, Bowyer isn't as strong as he was last year. Kenseth, Harvick and Biffle just don't look to be strong enough. The only one I look at that could be a true sleeper is Stewart. He led the most laps and New Hampshire, Talladega and Charlotte earlier this year and if he had better luck would have won all 3 races. He was second at Atlanta and has won at Dover, Kansas, Texas, Phoenix, Martinsville and Homestead in the past. So I think outside of the big 3, Stewart has the best resume for the 10 tracks in the chase. But the way his luck has been this year, I don't think he'll be able to pull off the upset. I think it's going to be Kyle, Carl and Jimmie, one, two, three, but not necessarily in that order. I do predict that it will come down to the last lap at Homestead though. I don't think one of those three is going to have a huge lead going into the last race. I think all three will be close to each other going into Homestead which will make for the exciting finish to the season that NASCAR is looking for.

I think Gordons gonna show that the last 26 races were all test dates. The chase has screwed him in the past.He wants revenge.

Harvick or Kenseth, I think they're both sleepers! I think Kyle and Carl will somehow hurt themselves in the Chase! Johnson, I believe will do fine but I still think your going to have to keep an eye on the 29 and 17.......
But I'm hoping that the Newman and you guys will win at least FIVE of those Chase races! Good Luck this weekend!

Of course I've posted this after New Hampshire, but I wanted to read the post and see the comments to see if anyone had picked Biffle, nope.

I have said for a month that someone else would step up and make it a foursome.. Biffle proved that on Sunday... now... the real sleeper is lurking.... this sleeper is keeping a low profile, kinda.... I have felt for months that several teams have been using the 26 races as practice sessions for the final 10 races... I would not bet on the 18,48,99... for the most part they have shown what they have, except for the 48 which has shown their hand only recently...... be safe and keep the faith...

Biffle only proved he can win one race in the Chase the way Clint Bowyer did last year. Bowyer won his one race then disappeared, and Biffle has been doing that since the end of 2005.

Yes, It seems that Biffle disappeared along with 25,000 fans at that piece of shit track.
