I'm Back
I have been taking some time with the family over the past few weeks and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of ski strips to the mtns. of NC and lots of time working at the shop with all the new guys we have. I would be lying if i said it wasn't a little weird around here without Newman. This is the first time in 9 years that i will be pitting for a different driver. Obviously being good friends i wish him the best, but don't think i don't want to run better than him. I'm sure he would say the same thing as well. Things at the shop are going well, there are lots of changes that have been made to help improve our team as a whole. As far as our new driver goes, well, I don't really know him. He s been in the shop a few times and drover pit practice last week for us, so i guess we ll just have to see how we do at Daytona. I ll be back early next week to catch up on some of the rule changes that have been effecting our teams in pit practice and to comment on the how I think the economy is going to effect our sport. Thats all for now.

Sure won't seem the same with you being with another driver this year. Being a big Newman fan my support will have to go with the 39 - but I do wish you much success, as long as you are always chasing the 39:) Glad you enjoyed your time off and I am sure you spent some quality time with that new son. Best of Luch Trent!

Hey Trent,
Glad you're back.
New faces at work always take some getting used to. How much time does a driver really spend at the shop anyway?
I too will be rootin' for the 39 Army car, to be 4th. Behind the 2,12 and 77!
You most likely have not lost a friend, just gained another respected competitor. Now, get out there and make him wish he'd never left.

Micah, I think Ryan will do fine at Hass. He is one of the top drivers in the series and I think once he gets used to people around him he ll be able to adapt just fine. I just hope he doesnt hit me on pit road, you never know, he might think thats funny. Take care and enjoy your snowmobiling this winter.

Trent
I'm glad you and your family enjoyed your
vacation. I'm sure you and the guys will
miss Newman but the new driver can bring
some excitement to the team also. It will
take some time getting used to a new driver
but I'm sure things will work out good for
everyone. I'm a Smoke fan but will also
pull for Newman since he drives for Tony.
I wish everyone the best of luck.

Trent, I was skeptical at the hiring of Stremme to replace Ryan.Hope it works out but just not sure about the choice.

Trent, glad you're back and hope you were able to destress and refresh.
Newman will be fine. I mean no offense at all to you crewman - Newman will be much better off. No Dodge, no Cindric, no corporate BS. Good ridance. I am sooooo happy he is hooked up with fresh start, a bowtie and a fun lovin' boss.
Let the racin' begin!

68...I think Stremme will be fine. With such a crap shoot as far as driver's staying and leaving...I thought it was a solid choice at the time.BL wasn't available and I feel Stemme got the screws from Ganassi after showing alot of promise and improvement in his second year.I think this will be a make or break year for his team mates though, especially the 2.You know he is a better driver than what they showed. As far as the 77.....should have never left OW IMO.
09 will be interesting with the sluggish economy and new teams and driver changes.Could be a make or break year for Nascar.Good luck Trent and be safe..............

Trent,
welcome back! Gald to hear you are continuing with the blog! Hate to see Newman leave, but these days, you never know. As a B. Lab fan, I have been so confused the last couple of years since he left Gibbs, and actually rooting for several drivers. Anyway, not sure if you remember but the offer is still there if you would like to stop by in Brunswick GA for a boat ride. CG would not want us to fish though! Take care and see ya in Daytona!

Trent - Newman will be driving for STEWART-Haas Racing.
DJ - I think everyone will be surprised at the season Stremme is going to. Penske has picked up a new fan (me) for hiring David. I gotta root for another Indiana driver. :)

Welcome back glad yo had a good off season.
AAAHHH!!!
The start of a new Nascar season..... how optimistic most are sounding.
I hope the # 12 car runs good but rooting on the # 39 car to run better.
Big question for you Trent. What colors will the # 12 Dodge car wear and what colors will you guys wear on pit road?
Is Alltel racing Nascar or is it the forbidden Verizon rival to Sprint?
Is it going to be plain black/white hood?
I will be cheering loud for the # 39 Army Chevy and #14 Office deport/old spice/BK Chevy in 2009.
Trent did you see pics of Newman at Fort Bragg with the bad@$$ Buzooka/rocket launcher?
'Private Ryan'(the nicknames keep coming) was shooting some serious rounds. It's funny how he dropped cell phones for guns. If he doesn't beat y'all on track he will surely beat y'all shooting rounds.
As for Stremme,I wish him good luck, I think he will need it.
I really think his days are numbered in that ride and he may be warming the seat for Justin Allagier or I think they will go after big free agents in 2009. I could be wrong.
