Building some Momentum
It was a good weekend for Penske Racing. Coming into this weekend, we were hoping that we would have 3 good finishes and head into Las Vegas with some momentum. The 2 car had a good finish and was able to move into the top 5 in points and the 12 car finished well. The 77 car ran well all night and ended up going a lap down towards the middle of the race and couldn't get it back. Pit road continues to be a different situation than what we have been used to in the past. I saw plenty of teams loosing lug nuts and having trouble adjusting to some of the new rules. I never used to get nervous before a race as a pit coach but lately its been pretty nerve racking. You never know what could happen or how stops are going to go. Its hard adjusting so quickly and trying to keep the same speed you have always had during each stop. Heading into Vegas, I think all three of our cars have the opportunity to finish well. Its so important to get as many points in the first five races as possible. Hopefully, we can keep some of the momentum going and have three good finishes after Vegas.

First race of the year
The season didn't start exactly how we had planned. It was good to get back at the track and get over the wall for the first time in months, but we were hoping for a better finish. Daytona has always been an uncertain place and i was hoping we could have finished a little bit better. I don't know if we had the car to win but we had a good car until our tire blew. The worst part about our whole day was that we were supposed to pit the lap before and David couldn't get down in time to pit so we went another lap and that is when the tire blew. After the tire blew we had a good enough car to stay in the draft but we ran out of time. Hopefully this weekend in California we can get a good solid finish and start making our way back up the points.
