King Of The Mountain; Team Chevrolet
By Mark Young
After the race yesterday I spent the evening watching most of the post-race shows on TV as well as reading the Internet making sure I didn't miss anything while watching the TV broadcast of the race. During that time I was thinking of who to crown KOTM for this week. With Jimmie winning again I thought of giving him the throne but decided not to as he has been there already and should be really lucky Gordon didn't punt him at the end. Then I saw a stat that convinced to make make Team Chevrolet King Of The Mountain.
601 is the number I am referring to and that represents the total number of victories by Chevrolet in NASCAR, quite the impressive stat in my opinion. During that period of time Chevrolet has won something like 26 manufacturer's championships in the past 30 years. The debate between Ford, Chevy, and Dodge is a constant ongoing one but considering that 11 of the top 13 drivers sport bow-ties on their front bumpers and have won all but one race I would say that it would be hard to deny my claim that Chevrolet is King Of The Mountain.
U WANT SOME?

Mark,
I think this is a good choice. They do dominate. But, they should win mostly everything. They field more cars than everyone else. Also, the big money teams all run Chevrolet, except Roush. I have a candidate for just shut up: Jeff Gordon.
When he said he'd race JJ different now because he blocked him at the end I had to laugh. What is he supposed to do, move over and let him win? Gordon never used to bother me, but that was asinine to say something that stupid. Sorry I got off topic.

Chevrolet has got it figured out..They promote fun, youth, dependable and cool in their TV ads..That draws in more sponsors aimed at younger customers, which leads to more funding for the teams, who in turn can hire the better of the young upcoming star drivers, and that produces wins..Ford on the other hand has, Jack(i'm always pissed about something)ROUSCH.I think that alone turnes some sponsors away..Example,J.R. whined about TOYOTA to no end,,Rick Hendrick said bring it on..Robby Gordon never had sponsor trouble til he switched to Ford..By swithcing he lost all ties with DEI and Tons of possible sponsorship money that follows Chevrolet,Seems like TV throws a little more attention to Chevy ,before, during and after the race also..Just a thought.
