DEI Moves To Ginn Shop? JSU!!!
By Mark Young
OK, I have read on two very reputable sites, one being this one, that DEI has essentially bought two of the Ginn Racing teams. This weekend it is reported that Dale Jr., Truex Jr., Menard, and yes Mark Martin will drive under the DEI banner. Plus when Mark Martin is not racing Aric Almirola will pilot the #01 car putting Sterling Marlin, Joe Nemechek, and Regan Smith out of a job. Plus the #13 team's points will be transitioned to Kenny Wallace's team locking him into the field on Sunday. That makes sense to me but the final statement, from the site I won't mention (starts with J and ends in I) mentioned that "DEI will move it's motorsports operations to the Ginn facilities in Mooresville". ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
JUST SHUT UP!! U WANT SOME OF THIS?!!!
Now I haven't been to the Ginn/MB2 racing facility but I did visit DEI in May. If you haven't been to DEI it has been called the Garagemahal for a reason, referring to it's size and scale. That place is absolutely huge! I didn't visit the Ginn/MB2 shop but believe me it can't be anything close to DEI. To come out and say that DEI would move it's operations to Ginn IS RIDICULOUS.
The buyout of the teams, staff, equipment, and personnel makes perfect business sense to me but who in their right mind would say DEI would leave their castle to another shop? Someone prove me wrong or tell the other site to JSU!!! Is this just trying to stir up the media/Internet rumor mill or has Theressa finally lost her mind?

I've been to Dale Earnhardt Inc, and I know where MB2's shops where next to Roush Industries, but I am unfamilar where Ginn has set up in Mooresville...I have an inkling! You could see this coming, Bobby Ginn hoping to ante up, and sign one of the brighttest stars...would have been a license to print money, he'd have sponsors lining up to be associated with the "Earnhardt Nation". But it is all for naught. I feel bad for Mr Ginn, but this is what is! We can't hate the players...Just hate the game. What is so Ironic to me is the DEI/RCR engine program has set up a shop in Salsbury???!!!!....and DEI will shift it's operations ro the Ginn Shops???!!!....I guess Tony Stewart was right, Dale Earnhardt Inc without Dale Earnhardt Jr...will just be a Museum...how Prophetic is that!

No one knows how all this is going to shake out so why don't all of you STFU. It's all speculation at this point. I can't believe how everyone around here jumps to conclusions right away and usually the wrong ones. No one other than the parties involved know what is going on.

Mark, & #5, it is my unerstaning that DEI has outgrown thier shops in the GARAGEMAHALL, and was looking for more room. It seems that there is no available room to expand the shop and they have been searching for more room for some time now.
It is also my unerstanding the Busch cars will be built an prepared in the DEI shops while the 4 cup teams will move to the Ginn shops. Remember next year Jeffery Earnhardt and others are expecte to run the busch series.
The new engine/chasis shop in Salisbury is center to the Mooresville hops and RCR in Welcome NC. And there is plenty of room for expansion there.

Ginn Racing has a 7-post and DEI doesn't. Ginn also has expansion room and DEI doesn't. The Ginn facility has enough space to rent out a section of their shop to the Furniture Row #78 team. DEI doesn't have enough room for their own operation let alone an additional Cup team. Maybe Teresa isn't losing her mind.
ESPN's NASCAR Now host said Max Siegel will be a guest on their program tomorrow. Based on the reporting I've read from various sources this sounds like a done deal to me, canucken.

Sunday on Wind Tunnel (another plug), Despain interviewed SpeedTV's NASCAR guy and asked if Bobby Ginn could be compared to J.D. Stacy. Stacy was, I think, a coal guy, and came into NASCAR in the late 70s-early 80s, bought about four teams, and did OK, then pulled out about two years later. The answer? "If he's still in Cup in two years, no. If he's out, yes."
This is a pretty stunning development. While I won't be as vehement as canucken, I do look forward to watching this unfold.
And it still leaves DEI with an open slot for next year, right? Busch the Younger? Give us a call.
A tip of the hat, too, to Joe Nemechek. He's bounced around, won a few races, and it's sad to see him unceremoniously dumped like this. He may get a ride somewhere. I hope so. As for Sterling, well, he's done fine. He just wants to race, so here's hoping for him as well. Maybe we'll yet get to see the anxiously-awaited show where Ward Burton interviews Sterling!

Mark Martin has been running good with Hendrick engines. But I believe that the RCR/DEI engine program will be just as great.
Mark could really help Junior through this transitional period, as teammates. For this year at least.
I fear, as a Hendrick fan, that if Mark is with DEI next year, Truex might be unstoppable.
And if he is, he deserves it. Just imagine Mark Martin as your mentor. Don't get me wrong, Truex is one hell of a driver, and doesn't really need much help. But, damn, Mark Martin?
Good luck to Nemechek and Marlin. Sterling would be a good fit for the truck series, but Front Row Joe still belongs in cup.

I hear the Route 3 DEI shop is going to be converted to a Super WAL-Mart.

Doesn't take much to get us all stirred up, does it? Sometimes I wonder if the people trying to put these deals together are aggravated by the speculation, or if they get a kick out of our feeding frenzies?

Trucker you are right on. Evidently the Ginn shop is nearly twice the size of DEI and has room to grow.....
I am just amazed that you need more room. At DEI there is a room near the center of the building that has got to ba an acre in size with nothing but show cars in it that nobody can get into. Just seems like a waste of space.....

DEI will be used for the Busch and Truck Series teams, and the Cup cars will be moved to the Ginn facility which has considerable room to grow. RCR and DEI have made a commitment to dominate this sport with their latest moves, and I believe in a short period of time that is what will happen.
Junior is making a mistake. I am saying it now. Max is a winner, and he has been an incredible addition to DEI. His moves have been impeccable. It will also be a coup to see him sign Kyle which is rumored to be a done deal (waiting for Jr to announce his sponsor before they announce). If he can secure his services DEI will be a force in 2008 and 2009.

Mark and Trucker, go to google or Yahoo maps and use the Hybrid or Satellite images and compare who has room to expand, I'm still gonna say Teresa is gonna turn the old barn on route 3 into a museum
Posted by: Fan #5 | Jul 25, 2007 7:57:06 AM
That very well could be the case #5. Lots of room to grow with the Ginn facility.
Posted by: Mark | Jul 25, 2007 8:07:34 AM
Ginn stops a huge money drain and DEI gets space to grow. I don't find it all that awe inspiring. Business is business, afterall.

DEI has a bright future ahead-hate to see Jr. leave...oh well, it will make good tv to watch him have to battle his old team, who i think will be on par with HMS within 2 years.
Posted by: Josh | Jul 25, 2007 9:08:24 AM
AS said above this isnt about racing per se anymore its more about the business end to competete with HMS and Roush. Its a proven business model.
As Barb said Ginn has a top notch 7 post shaker and a hell of a shop. I have been in both facilites, shop and all . Cant dispute the fact DEI needs in fact more room to expand with the merger, Ginn currently has more room now, and will add on in the off season as well.
Knew when this came out it would turn into a lets hate Teresa and Max post. Cant blame them a bit, stay competitive. Mark will now have Jr to help him make the Chase and develop Menard, Aric and Truex.

I didn't intend to make it a hate Theressa deal at all. I was just truly amazed that DEI would be leaving the house that Dale built. Had no idea Ginn was bigger.
It is all making sense this morning now that the facts are coming out. But it sure is fun to try and figure it all out.

180,000 sq feet. How many illegals does it take to clean a place that huge? I know, back in the day, the wannabes had to sweep the garage. But, damn, you'd need a zamboni to make a dent in this place.
Tech tip of the day: If you'd rather put in your 2¢ than put in your $.02, then here's what you do...hold down the "Alt" key and on the numbers keypad type 155. "Alt(key) 155" is the ascii code for ¢.

DEI is dead. TEI is trying to survive. 2¢

Ginger,
On Theresa...Just like a woman. Mad at the family. Goes out shopping and buys something expensive. Me, at my payscale, would hope it was shoes or a dress...LOL.
Posted by: Keith | Jul 25, 2007 11:34:38 AM
Remember Ginn has a seven-point shaker rig and DEI does not. That's a multi-million dollar piece of equipment that would cost a great deal to move to DEI's shop. Add in the addition of a 4th car and the added space at Ginn could be needed.
It's all coming together now. You ever wonder was 50% of DEI available to Jr. but he didn't like the price or the percentage? It's so easy to blame the mean step-mom, but, this isn't the $2,000 street stock in the single-car garage out back. Money and family don't mix well.
Remember IMSA GTP, or CART. Got so insanely expensive only a few could even show for the race and even less were competitive. It's getting scary!

sounds like a good business deal.but adding kyle busch say its not true!
Posted by: gil | Jul 25, 2007 2:11:04 PM
People in key positions are still what drives the sport. All the money that you can buy buildings and equipment with do not guarantee success. I myself will have a wait and see attitude about this move. As far as Mark Martin goes, the 13 and 14 cars were not exactly setting the world on fire.

Sounds like a great deal between Ginn Racing
and DEI. DEI needs more space and now they
will have it. Hate Thresa, why, if Dale Sr.
left her a 100% of the business, she has the
right to do whatever she wants with the
organization. Who knows what happpened be-
tween Thresa and Dale Jr. Wish Dale Jr. the
best of luck at HMS. If DEI has signed Kyle
Busch, they made a good choice. Kyle is
young, yes, he's made mistakes but what
driver hasn't, he is a great driver and he
is out to win races. He will win races and
there is a championship in his future. If
he hasn't signed with DEI, I hope he goes
to RCR.

Hearing more and reading more...DEI just kinda absorbed Ginn and we have another 4 car team. I think NASCAR should set a date to limit them to 3 teams, and then 2. How about 2010 and 2012? Or, else we will have 5 or 6 teams running the show with no chance for a newcomer. NASCAR, who I know only cares about profit, has let teams get out of control.
That's my 2¢

What's REALLY gonna be f'd up is when Kyle Busch wins the Sprint Cup title next year in the #5 Budweiser DEI Chevrolet!! :)
