Nice Gesture Robby But You Still Need To JSU
By Mark Young
Now Let me start this blog off by saying that I did not watch the Busch Series race in Montreal last Saturday, we all deserve a vacation once in a while. But I did see the circus that Robby Gordon turned the finish of the race into thank to my DVR and regardless if NASCAR was wrong or not in how they scored him, there is a right way and a wrong way to handle things. MY mind was made up then and there as I watched him pretend that he had won the race even after NASCAR pulled his score card that this cat needed to just shut up.
U WANT SOME?
The sarcastic mock-victory celebration Robby pulled embarrassed NASCAR on a day where the event held on Canadian soil was very successful was likely the most childish thing I have ever witnessed in racing. I have no problem with Mike Helton's suspending Robby for the race at Pocono, I don't think they had any choice in the matter. I actually think that instead of the $35,000 fine they should suspend Robby from any Busch Series races for the rest of the year.
Then I read on-line last night that Robby has extended an invitation for Marcos Ambrose to make his NEXTEL Cup debut this weekend in one of his own Cup cars. This is a very nice gesture to make, in fact something very out of character if you look at Robby's past whenever he has created controversy. Ambrose is a very good driver and this may be the break he has needed to get attention he deserves.
BUT, the damage to Robby Gordon's public persona has already been done and I doubt this will make things any better. Regardless if NASCAR was right or wrong in how they scored him following the yellow flag, Gordon's actions following it has likely permanently alienated himself from the rest of the racing world. There is little chance that the next time a situation like the one we saw in Montreal arises that NASCAR will give him the benefit of the doubt. Even though you didn't say anything out of character Robby you still need to JUST SHUT UP.

Mark,
As you say, you did not watch the race. Well in my opinion Robby was robbed. He should have been slotted in second spot and he resented being put farther back.
We have never seen Nascar change a drivers finishing place unless he falls further down the list.
Was what Robby did correct, NO, after he dumped Marcos, he deserved what he got.
You have it right.
JSU Robby

Mark:
As per The American Heritage Dictionary, embarrassed means "To cause to feel self-conscious or ill at ease; disconcert"
Robby could not embarrass NASCAR, they did it to themselves. In my 40 years of officiating SCCA (amateur) events, I have never seen such a bumfuzzled mockery of race officiating as the NASCAR Montreal team did. NASCAR should be ashamed of its so-called "professionals."
