NASCAR Santa comes Early
By Keith Ott
NASCAR Santa certainly was in a beneficent mood when it bestowed (allowed a transfer of) points, from the car of Kurt Busch, unto the car of Mr. Hornish, giving him a place in the “Bogus 35.” I have to, in the spirit of Christmas, assume the other teams, those not among the “Bogus 35,” were on the bad list, checked twice, and will receive coal in their stockings.
Now, my most favorable opinion of the T35 is that it’s BS. I don’t think racing owes anything to race teams. Racing owes the fans, and the best 43 cars should get on the track. The T35 means the “haves” have to do nothing to be in the event. The “haves,” keep “having.” But here, a major “Have (Penske),” gets to change his “have not” team into a “have,” with no effort, nothing. A snap of Santa’s fingers and KaZaam you’re a “have.” No risk. No fuss. No effort. NASCAR allowed the rich to get even richer, and that, IMO, is just wrong.
This is just a short one because there’s a sale at Wal-Mart and I have to get some shopping done<G>.
