We Won't Wait much longer....
By Mark Young
OK gang, just a quicky........Tony's deal to buy Haas is done. Management at JGR is aware. Truex could be going as well with UPS and Bass Pro as sponsors.
I might be a hack blogger and a half step behind but I am "hearing" the same thing some of these other sources are........I just have a real job, dammit
I am not Nostradamus (and don't care if it is spelled wrong) but if Truex leaves and Martin goes to the #5 ( which sounds legit) You heard it here in blog-land first people......Newman to the #1 at DEI

Even a hack blogger can be right, ESPECIALLY if what you hear is in accordance with what everyone else is saying. BTW your spelling is good!

Newman to DEI doesn't seem like much of an upward career move. He would certaintly be the "#1 guy" if that's what he's looking for. Newman to the 5 or 33 would on paper seem like a better deal performance wise.
DEI would probably do itself good to clean house of drivers though and get a fresh start, and Newman could be someone willing the interest and motivation to put in the time and turn that place around.
Frankly, i think the whole sport could use a good flushing and rinse. It just smells and looks bad at the moment.

OK, so you're saying Tony and Truex to the 66 and 70? Who would get the #20? Logano? What about Zipadelli? I'd say he stays at JGR, right? With the announcement that Mears is out at the 5 car (enjoy the rest of the season, Casey!), the Martin move makes as much sense as anything else. By 2010 they'll have someone to fill that ride.
And the 4th RCR car goes to ..?
Any rumors about goings-on at Ganassi? Are all three of his guys locked in for next year? You say Montoya, while unhappy, is staying. What about Franchitti and Sorenson?
Two guys who I think could do very well with the right ride: Stremme, Riggs.

They do say that if 1000 monkeys, typed for 1000 years, they might get a novel out of it (and some old-ass monkeys)...J/K. You did the homework, bro. If/when it pans out, you can be KOTM.

Michael, no truer words spoken "Frankly, i think the whole sport could use a good flushing and rinse. It just smells and looks bad at the moment. "
Mark, i put your predictions in a old castrol can and buried in my garage floor.
Tony is going to the "5" car.
Truex and Newman to a new team at JRM.
And DEI is getting set up to be a mueseum.

Mark
Good post and I agree with you.
Smoke is going back to Chevy and his deal to
buy Haas is done. Smoke and his crew chief,
Ziggy had a clause put in their contact at
JGR that if one left the other one could go
also. I'm hoping Home Depot will go with
Tony. What do you think? Home Depot and
Tony have been together for so long. I can't
imagine Tony driving a car without the Home
Depot logo on it.
I think, Martin Truex Jr. wants out of DEI
and is ready to move on to another team. I
don't think, Thresa has to much interest in
DEI any more because she is never at the
races to support the drivers and teams
like Hendrick, Rausch, Gibbs, etc.
Ryan Newman would be a good choice to go
with Smoke and so would Martin Truex jr.
I would really like to see Ryan Newman go
to RCR, he would fit in great there. Ryan
is a good driver if he has the equipment but
Penski doesn't seem to have it right now.
After reading everything on Casey Mears, I
can't see him at RCR. I would rather see
RCR give Stremme a ride if it comes down to
a choice of Mears or Stremme. Don't get me
wrong, I think, Mears is a nice young man
but he hasn't proved anything at HMS.
I'm sure there will be a lot of moves and
there are loads of rumors floating around.
I have the greatest respect for Mark Martin
but I just don't see him driving full time
at HMS, since he has stated he only wants to
drive a limted schedule.

What about Truex Jr. to the #5? I think with his ties to Dale Jr. that could be possible.

Mark-
I'm stickin' to my guns on this.
Tony to the #5,
Martin to the #33 with Wimmer,---
Truex & Newman to Tony Stewart Racing (T.S.R.).
Logano gets the #20.
By the way, just for s@%#'s and giggles, Stremme gets the #12

Mark,
Granted the off season in NASCAR isn't as long as in other sports, but I think it's akin to one shooting oneself in the foot to announce halfway through the season that you're leaving. Is that team going to give 100% to a driver who's leaving? How about the ownership? Sure, everything will be all smiles on the outside, and praises will be sung, but I think a performance decline is inevitable.

Great points Keith,
Look at Junior last year. That car became the DEI R&D car. It is strange that so much happens before the 1/2 way point but with so much $$ put into marketing and merchandise (NFL and MLB stuff doesn't change) it almost makes sense.
