NASCAR Got It Right
By Mark Young
Just a quickie my fellow blog-heads, but a quickie I feel is worthy of note. NASCAR has announced that Friday's and Saturday's races have been postponed until Sunday because of tropical storm Hanna. Stating the safety for the 100,000 or so fans that will be attending NASCAR has decided to do something I cannot recall as an avid fan, we will be treated to a double header of racing!!
This is almost......and I state ALMOST as cool as Memorial Day with the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600!!
What do you think about NASCAR's decision?

Once in a while they get something right. They may get by Hanna, but there are still a bunch of races in the southeast. The way storms are working their way over, this may not be the last rain day of the season.

It was a no-brainer. It's disappointing that it had to come to this, but when you pick a fight with a hurricane, you lose.

It's not much as far as storms go. 2-3 more hours and it'll be past Norfolk, 2 more and it's past Richmond, but it's better safe than sorry.
It does effect NASCAR in a couple of ways though. Sunday at 1pm NASCAR goes head to head with the NFL for the first time this season. I want to see those ratings. It also puts all the "bubble boys" next to each other at the start. Let's see if they play nice.

Mark's right. NASCAR nailed this one. The best thing about it is the decisive nature of the action. I'd rather see a leader make a logical, well-based and firm decision, even if it turns out to be something other than the best option, than have the leader waffle, and wait and wait and wait, even if it results in a "right" action. Even if it clears off tonight, even if it rains tomorrow, this was the right and sensible call.

Yeah, a good call for NASCAR and its fans. I like daytime races better anyway. Here's hoping Jr. is back in front at the end and Kyle Busch is....well, here's hoping he is in the back of the field, however it may happen.

Yeah, a good call. Too bad, though, as I had a green light to watch tonight's race, but have a granchild birthday tomorrow. Oh well, I'm sure Tivo will handle it for me, and I WILL remember to record an hour past the race.
